Morning All,
Looks like a nice day today so may attempt to put up new trampoline:j
Scotrae - hope your mum is back to her normal self now. Don't be downhearted about the job interview. Nothing is ever wasted. Its all good practise for the next time. You are obviously a good candidate as you are getting interviews. Well done!:A
5 for yesterday
1. Inspired by all the slow cooking going on on here, I put a big pork casserol on to cook first thing.
2. Returned jeans that don't fit to OXFAM shop and found some more goodies for me and OH.
3. While DS2 was at his dance class. (He does love it!). We went to mad cheap freezer shop in the market and stocked up on stuff.
4. Invited friends round for a meal to thank them for collecting trampoline for us. Ate huge casserole and lots of stuff from freezer shop, plus cooked some veg recipes from my Marther Stewart mag. Jolly nice evening. Don.t know what would we do without them :A.
5. Sorted some stuff to put on Ebay today as its a free listing day!
Off to get dressed and go out to buy dog shampoo to de-pong the smelly dog!
HAVE A NICE DAY:D0 -
1)Hubby managed to get out of bed long enough for me to change the sheets, woo hoo, no more crisp crumbs in the bed.
2) The snow has gone so I should be able to walk to work again.
3) Realising the the 'mouse droppings' were in fact linseeds, that had spilt from the jar when hubby tried to make coffee with them.
4) Said linseeds recommened to keep me regular, seem to be working well, maybe too well, back in a sec...........
5) Finding clementines @ £2 for 24 & being able to buy some for DD & the grandchildren.

It has been a while, but there have still been a few pleasures among the rubbish week I've had. Healthwise, I have a horrible cough that won't go, and it's hurting my chest. At least there have been some other areas I can work on.
1) Having 4 packs of offcut bacon for £2.50 from the market sat in my fridge waiting to be split and frozen. That's jambalaya/meat feast pasta/pizza toppings of the future.
2) Getting 2 pairs of pink fluffy bedsocks (so soft!) from the market for £2.50. They should have been £7.50 each original RRP but I got 2 pairs for £2.50
3) Finally getting around to watching Ration Book Britain. I find it fascinating to hear about how people managed.
4) Working out that of the 17 days of January so far, I've only had 5 days where I've spent on groceries
5) A nice long lay-in yesterday. I don't think I've ever slept so long. I must have needed it.
Have a good day everyone

Hello  everybody -
Sorry about my 'posting absence' - I'm having real problems staying logged onto the Internet for very long recently - convinced it's something to do with the workmen (heavy digging machinery, jcb's, bulldozers etc) at the side of my house. They've dug up the pavement (the BT phonelines run below the surface of the pavement) and road while they 'remodel the road layout'. They're also 'earth-moving' soil around and re-directing 'mains services' before they start to build our new Community Centre/Resource Building.
It's like watching a bunch of boys playing with Meccano and Lego all at the same time.
Just praying that THIS lot don't discover an unexploded WWII bomb like the last workmen did in 2008 AFTER demolishing an entire street of houses .
I'll have to catch up on all your posts and try and respond as, and when, I can.
:T for thinking about me - you're a bunch of :A:A:A - speak again later - love Ollie xxx
ps - many thanks bunnytoo for your pm.

I didn't have time to do my 5 yesterday evening so here they are:
1) Had a load of logs delivered. Went halves with my neighbour and my mum came to give me a hand wheelbarrowing them round the back of the house.
2) Had a proper chat with neighbour (haven't really done this in the 5 years he's lived there!)
3) Went swimming with sons and my brother and sister.
4) Went out in the evening to mum and dad's for Wassailling. (Basically a bonfire and "toasting" the largest of the cider apple trees followed by a big tea and games).
5) Actually got to spend an hour just with one son! Bigger son decided he wanted to stay on at Wassailling so I brought little son home. Bigger son was dropped off by my sister later on.
Hope your mum continues to improve, Scotrae.

Glad you're ok Ollie. Hope the workmen will be finished soon so that you can go back to having uninterupted broadband!
I have had a really good day today.
1) woke up and it was light and not even that late! Well it's was late for me at 8.30 as I am an early bird. It's so nice not having to get up in the dark. It was also so mild today which was a nice change! I didn't even wear my gloves when I popped out.
2) Went to collect a magimix type thing and a pressure cooker that I have been gifted through freecycle. I know the whole point is that you don't pay for things, but I felt guilt about not giving the nice ladt a box of choccies or something!! daft!!
3) Got my photos from my brother's wedding and Christmas printed with a few extra ones for my mum which she will be pleased about.
4) Scrubbed the new aquisitions as they were filthy and stank of smoke! They look as good as new now
5) Went to the Asian shops and bought loads of beans, peas and lentils, which I will soak and cook next weekend.
6) Made some delicious scones with some sour milk that I had. And frozen a whole load to munch on when I get bored.
7) Made a lovely mutton curry. I used my mum's recipe and then realised that I didn't have half the ingredients so improvised. I also bunged in some split peas and lentils from the shopping trip so bulk it up a bit. All ready for supper tomorrow night, once the flavours have matured.
8) Bought Delia's Frugal food book for £3.50 from the charity shop.
Have a good evening everyone and an even better week.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
My five for today:
1. Lovely bright sunny day in Bristol.
2. Delicious soup, toast and yoghurt for lunch, all homemade.
3. Unexpectedly meeting my brother and his girlfriend.
4. Good session at the gym - worked up a bit more sweat that usual (sorry if TMI!!).
5. A friend who I'd lost contact with joining Facebook, so I've sent her a message so we can reconnect.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -

4) copied more recipes from t'internet for future mealplanning/freezer batch cooking
5) chatted to dp about new recipes and sneaky ways to save more pennies
