5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Aaargh, typed up a lovely list then lost it. Grrr. Right, here goes round 2 for yesterday:
1. Managed to get into the office and was given a bar of choccy from Ghana from a lovely colleague who brought presents from home over Christmas
2. DD LOVED her first ever dance lesson and so is now signed up for life. We stayed to watch the class after hers and she was copying the girls, transfixed by it all. I'm so happy for her
3. Went crazy again in Mr T's when I popped in to pick up a PAYG mobile phone to be a backup for my dying phone and to get the 1,000 points. Bought yet more baked beans and special offer pesto, and more yellow stickered items. I think February is going to be a leave my purse at home month as the cupboards are full to bursting!
4. The snow is finally going.....in fact as I sit here, it's bucketing down with rain, hooray, I never thought I'd be so pleased to hear the rain!
5. I have a bid on eb&y for a wonderful birthday present for my mum, and so far I'm winning. It finishes tomorrow....and has an RRP of £50, so I hope I can get it at least half price, fingers crossed.
I'll be back later once DD has got up from my bed, her treat, and we've had some fun and adventures. Have a great day everyone0 -
My 5 are:-
1) A nice lie in as it's Saturday.
2) It's raining & washing all the snow away, so my journey to work should be a bit safer for a while.
3) Hubby bringing me a cuppa in bed, despite him being in pain with a bad back
4) Hubby getting an osteopath appointment on Monday & knowing I have enough money to pay for it.
5) DS popping in to see me yesterday.

1. My new pink polka dot apron!
2. Looking forward to making some fruit muffins while wearing pink polka dot apron
3. Spent £15 on the weeks food shopping (for 2 people) thanks to some amazing yellow sticker reductions at Mr T. Took me about an hour to get through the checkout lol they're a !!!!!! to scan
4. Getting a huge solicitors bill in the post, which doesn't sound like a pleasure but paying it means we'll be one step closer to completion on our new (OS) cottage!
5. Thanks to OS ways helping me save money we can pay said huge solicitors bill without impacting cashflow. Wahey!0 -
I agree with the fresh bread idea but it costs more to make than buying it. Any ideas to save money on this one?0

Hi all, here's mine, struggling to find some....
1. I have to be given 5 weeks notice or pay in lieu before redundancy so that's a bit more wages
2. Making focaccia bread (from the book "Dough") our new favourite bake
3. Making HM soup
4. Having a clear out and finding some art stuff and cookery books to put on ebay along with some different bits to give to three friends.
5. We still have our home, some food, our family etc - even with no jobs and worrying how to pay the bills, that's still more than many of those poor people in Haiti have.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

I don't think there's much difference if you are a little canny:
1. Buy your flour in larger quantities when it is on offer. Mix white with whole-wheat to eke out the whole-wheat a bit more.
2. Ask your supermarket bakery to sell you a little yeast (I know some give it away but mine doesn't any more) I got enough to make about 13 loaves for 25p:money: You can cut and freeze portions for future baking.
3. Make and bake as many as you can in one go. Cool and freeze the spare loaves and rolls. They cut much easily when not quite thawed.
4. Home-made bread is quite a bit denser that shop-bought. That doesn't mean doorstop heavy:rotfl: but it is much more filling so you eat less in general.
I'm sure others have ideas as I'm still quite a novice at the art.0 -
Can I sneak in and add an extra one?
My dd has just phoned to tell me that her Dad, my ex has just come back from his hols in Jamaica (where he owns 3 holiday apartments) & he has terrible sunburn, I'm sorry I know it's wrong, but I'm sat here chortling.

Sorry but I have to add another one!
6. Just made a hat made out of leftover material from the dress I made. It's very funky! I feel it needs a crochet flower embellishment now...0 -
FM, there is a pattern for crochet flowers here http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/teeny-tiny-flowers.html

Hiya everyone

3 Few offers shopping and stocked up on a few things as on offer
4 Worked out food budget/meal plan for next week so feeling very organised
5 spent the afternoon making a keyring sock monkey and will finish it tonight (did enough housework today - its the weekend!)
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
Edited to add number 6 - our lovely neighbour just gave us another bottle of wine!! whoo hoo!!!0
