Lovely day but early start -

    1. Took car to garage expecting a big bill - but just a wonky fanbelt that was fixed in 20 mins FOR FREE!

    2. Collected my bargin ebay buys from postoffice - less than half RRP

    3. Peckish in town - OH got a pizza slice but I stayed diet queen with a bag of yellow stickered grapes whilst walking round.

    4. Got my crocet needle & wool (£1.99) and looking at tutorials on Youtube (saves on buying a book)

    5. Looking forward to a nice night in with abit of wine and TV tonight.

    Today's pleasures:-

    1. A very long lie in, can't remember when I slept so late.

    2. Decided to cheer up a grey day by going out to lunch in a lovely garden centre with DD and family. It took a very big bite out of this month's 'Happy Money' but I don't expect we'll be going out for too many 'Happy Days' in January. If we do we'll have to find somewhere for free.

    3. Only needed a very light tea, so no cooking and little preparation.

    4. Not being tempted in the bright lights and beautiful presentation of the garden centre to spend any money.

    5. A nice cosy quiet evening with DH, he's preparing to do a tapestry which my hands will no longer handle whilst I do my knitting.

    Bella.

Edited to add number 6 - our lovely neighbour just gave us another bottle of wine!! whoo hoo!!!

    Hi All...

Nuttybabe - I want a neighbour like yours!!

I have been really productive today so am feeling pleased with myself:

    1) cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, and did a heap of washing

    2) spent 2 hours laughing at a thread called "Daughter caught us having sex..." it was hilarious!

    3) baked bread - it wasn't perfect but still very yummy

    4) HM soup to go with the HM bread

    5) Am still trying to find a way to get cheaper car insurance... it is still sitting at £523...

    6) Lovely long soak in the bath with medical strength emolient for my dry skin. Following by getting in to bed with fresh sheets and a hot water bottle... bliss

    Have a great evening everyone!

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    1. DD saying thank you for a lovely day today has put a big smile on my face :)

    2. We went for a swim this morning and had a great time and bumped into one of DD's old nursery chums. Even though my back was making me cry out in pain before we went and I can't actually swim at the moment, I still had fun and the painkillers/buoyancy of the water helped a lot.

    3. Popped into the library before coming home and borrowed some great books for me, and the Jungle Book dvd which we watched this afternoon cuddled up on the sofa.

    4. Being told my home-made bean soup was scrumptious at lunchtime.

    5. Going to friend's for play and 'pizza party' for tea this evening, and having a good girly catch up with my friend, the mummy, so DD and I were both happy girls!

    6. Lost another 2lb :)

    7. Have done lots of washing and ironing today and actually enjoyed it - even changing the beds wasn't the hated task it usually is!! I must be coming down with something ;)

    8. Managing to resist more "bargains" on the Lakel*nd website......

    Evening all,

Glad to hear Ollie is well and looking forward to her lovely posts again.
    Mine for yesterday / today:
    1. Getting a lift to and from work yesterday so no walking in the rain
    2. Saving OH postage on an eay item as lots of stamps from a survey
    3. Resisting the temptation to get a takeaway last night and finding something quick and easy in the freezer to cook instead
    4. Today has the beef and onion pie was going to make yesterday and it was yummy
    5. Getting my hair cut today, I can see again plus resisted the temptation to have one of the lovely treatments they do.
    6. DD joining the library today, think I may join as well.

Hugs to all who need them and goodluck to those job hunting.
  • 1) picked up Rose Carrarini's 'Breakfast Lunch Tea' from the library and spent this afternoon reading through the yummy recipes
    2) cleared out dd's crayons and gave a bagful to the library got a lovely thank you from the librarian
    3) lunch at Sainsbury's and chat with dd/dp spent £1.85 on kiddie breakfast apple and drink included (dp had trad. breakfast, dd had packed lunch her favourite)
    4) dd made a bracelet from her M&S bead collection (birthday pressie from a classmate)
    5) chilled out this afternoon on the sofa reading through Old Style threads and updating recipe collection

    Evening all! Mine for today,

    1) Enjoyed my early morning cuppa in bed courtesy DH

    2) The continuation of the great big January de-clutter. Started on the little spare bedroom today (we need to re-decorate). Demolished the extremely rickety computer table and drawers. Took the collapsed computer chair to the recyling centre with the computer table and bin full of empty glass bottles etc. Found 3 bags full of cardboard, cards and mags. for reycling. Filled another bag with things that couldn't be recycled. Where did it all come from:confused:

    3) Loved reading thru some of the old cards before deciding which one's to keep and which ones to recycle. Some of the words made me cry (in a happy sort of way)

    4) Munching on the last of the homemade cheesy straws for a snack and DH bought me a bar of chocolate (so unhealthy:o)

    5) My lovely hot shower after a very busy but productive day and being able to sit with my feet up for a while.

    Hope everyone is well.

I couldn't sleep last night and ended up downstairs trying to do another application over hot milk and honey for hours ... so ...
    1. DH was treading very gently and brought me a cup of tea in bed then left me to doze this morning.

    2. My godmother and her sister came to our home for coffee (Mum's cousins), exchanging belated Christmas gifts. My boys played some music for them and were very engaging.

    3. DH made some veggie/bean burgers for lunch and defrosted rolls from the freezer, which we all appreciated.

    4. After two very scary hours with my mum in A&E she started to gossip about her neighbours again and tell me who had done what earlier in the week ... and I knew she was regaining her memory and returning to normal after what appears to have been a TIA / mini stroke.

    5. The nurses and doctors in A&E being so concerned and courteous. The ambulance driver came to see how things were and shake dad's hand (although Mum was still on a 2-minute loop asking where she was, how she got there and why at that stage) and the lovely nurse came to say goodbye when she finished her shift and told dad they'd 'worked their magic' and got mum better.

PS - 6. Managing to smile and laugh each time Mum told me how much weight I'd put on ... every five minutes for a while, as though it was the first time she'd noticed!

I'm hopefully going to sleep well tonight, just thankful for the way the day panned out because at 1.30 it looked so grim. Puts the tears over my job disappointment into perspective from yesterday!

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    1. Winning yet another £8 on the bingo game overnight, the joy is it's their money I'm playing with :D
    2. Slept in late, the new curtain linings make the room so dark my sleepy state makes me thinks it's still the middle of the night
    3. A lazy day, I did the absolute minimum housework - just vac'd all the cat n dog hair up and other routine daily chores
    4. Out to supper with friends this evening. It was supposed to be early an evening but we never seem to stop talking and having fun when we get together so I didn't get home until almost midnight
    5. Wearing a pair of trousers that I haven't been able to get into comfortably for a year, and not feeling any strain on them even after a huge supper and lots of nibbles later :T

    Night night, sweet dreams
