Good evening all!
missmoneysave ((hugs)) get well now !
OT - Clever DS and the German birds
Tealady - my my you are a very talented lady !
tilams - OMG - you would not like most of my family then! Not many under 6ft 3 ! My niece has just turned 16 and she is well over 6ft already - 38ins legs - I think she is beautiful and I am sure that she will find herself a nice big rower or basket ball player. I think Frankie Dettori is probably a void bet though
6. for today
1. My DM's birthday ! Popped next door and gave her her pressie- she has had half of it already (theatre ticket ).
2. My brother , father of tall niece picked niece up as she has been to France for the week on an a school exchange trip. He phoned her earlier this week and he got a tearful "I am soooo tired Dad" snivel snivel "I am going on a picnic tomorrow, but I am sooo tired Dad"snivel . This made me laugh and I bet the French family got a shock when they saw the size of her :rotfl:She would definitely not fit in a 2CV
3.Day off - had an afternoon nap
4. Thai green curry for tea
5. HIGNFY later
6.That disrespectful MP has resigned- good .
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

Missmoneysave: R&R hope you feel better soon
Ampersand: Thank you, and wow your days sound like long hard hours at the moment, but worth it for NZ.

2. Did manage to get the washing done and up to date;)
3. Made shepherds pie and scoffed the lot between the 2 of us:o
4. Had a lovely hot bath and feeling very relaxed but also a little bit guilty as lots to do, but also learning it will always be there.:)
5. Did a bit of paperwork, made 5 pages of inroads into a pile of it...:rotfl:0 -

That's very impressive, Tealady.
Sorry, Ampersand, no wine in this house, I don't like it! I have the occasional glass of sloe gin in the winter and a pint or 2 of cider over the summer. Probably less than 10 alcoholic drinks per year! I do, however, have a cupboard full of different tea bags.0 -
Oh Frith, I'm so pleased for you and so angry that it all took far too long.
Congrats re healthy hearts, passed tests, jobs, new chickens... (Re Helga Chicken . Helga was what most people called my Mum as it was the nearest version of her (Estonian) name in German and she lived there for some years.)
TILAMS, tsk, re the tall women comment the other day. Tongue in cheek? My DD is 6'1. She and DSoL (5'10'') are happy and have been for many years now.
There is a lot of uncertainty over my (self -employed but classed as associate) job at the moment, I'm trying to keep positive but we keep being told 'no decision yet'... Another contract which should have started by now hasn't. What it means is I'm still working, but generating no income from the work.
That notwithstanding, we are not out on the streets yet.
Collected pleasures.
1. More MS meals.
2. Freebies in post - meerkat toy 'Vassily' for DGS, free biccies, dictaphone and maths book on the way from Amazon to review. If I still have work in that line, both will be useful!
3. Asked to babysit by DD as her childminder was at a hospital appt. Nice afternoon with dog & then the kids came in from school, later. Gladioli from DD as thank you, she is coming over on Sunday. :j
4. Watched some TV.
I enjoyed half of Bake Off, (then went out) Wartime Farm and Ian Hislop - watched him at Aberfan,a most beautifully done piece for his Stiff Upper Lip series... Watching IH made me think of one of my favourite reads. I'd stopped getting Private Eye (Hislop is editor) a little while ago, but decided 'stuff it' and took out a year's subscription online. Spent £28, yes, but both DS and me will really enjoy reading it each fortnight. That's effectively just what the music club costs me each month.
5. Expressed interest in a new project being launched nationally. It may come to nothing but I have a lot of experience in the field. X fingers.
6. Enjoyable and fairly cheap night out at live music club.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

Hello, I have been the Australian life for 2 whole years today, who knew that we actually would feel happy and settled here! What a difference a year makes. This time last year I had just discovered that I did quite like it here after all. A huge life changing experience , new people , new ways of doing things, new experiences, new schools , totally different education system for kids and me to get my head round. Some new traffic rules, hot weather( never will get used to that! ) , working full time( first time in over 17 years since I had kids).......became too familiar with a new and very different medical system but most importantly 2 full years of being together as our family of 5 .
Yes, I miss friends and family and pets back home but I (and I mean I) keep in touch and make the effort to maintain contact. I enjoy my phone calls to my friends and sometimes it's as if I've never been away.
However I've met new people and extended a circle of friends . I live in a lovely, old house with a lovely garden , I see beautiful birds every day.....I even have 2 possums that pee on my car! Kangaroos live nearby. We can be in a beautiful, vibrant city centre in 35 minutes by train where I feel safe wandering around.
1. Up very early , phoned my sister in law and had a lovely blether with her.
2. Catch up with papers and supplements and a BLT.....was too late for a Saturday scone!
3. Went to library ( another constant pleasure) with DD2 and had hoped to watch last Saturdays Casualty but watched 2 episodes of Nigelissimo instead....I do like Nigella.
4. Had a wee snooze when I came in.....was reading and dozed off!
5.I have the most beautiful roses blooming everywhere in my garden ..l.not so pleasant are the weeds though.
Have a lovely day whatever you get up to...about to have pizza and salad for tea.:)0 -
This has definitely been an OS pleasure that made me smile today

Oh KK, how sweet. I used to gets the same when Beavers swam the salmon run. Never had to buy chocolate malteasers!!
Oh, and the Daily Mail bit. Can IO have a bunny please?
5 Perfect full English, with poached eggs and the trimmings. And why has the cat got a fad for the tomato sauce. He always slurps it up good and propper.
4 Doing Rugby again today, crown of about 1,000 and two stewards, one on teh car-park, the other on the bar. Last night, again FOOTBALL FAILED.
3 On an anti garish food quest the now. How all the stuff in the emporiums look the same fried yuck straw gold colour? The chicken rubber bits, prawns in filo pastry, sauasages, onion rings, the platter you share at the cheap frill pub. All the same. Looks awful, all tastes like rubberised glue.
2 Waking up with stupid cat and Ms Sonny is a pleasure to ...
1 Be thrift today.I hvae nt snept th lst fw mntes writg ths post fr yu t cme alng hre nd agre wth m!

Early pleasure.. Got up a bit earlier than usual and was glad I did - my favourite jockey, Mattie Batchelor, was the guest on the C4 racing programme, The Morning Line.
He was great, in a sport where personalities are sometimes a bit dull (and those that aren't can annoy!) he is such a bright and witty spark.
I just told him that on FB too... say what you like about FB, something that allows you to connect with those you admire has to be good.
The superb racehorse Frankel runs later on, 13 races unbeaten and going for 14. The ground is heavy in places, and it may not suit him. I so, so, want him to win (and Carruthers for Mattie later on, but that is definitely more of a long shot.)Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again...
