Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

My apologies for the lack of posts recently - I've been out several evenings and, when I was at home, I haven't felt like switching on the pooter. :o

There's a lot to catch up on, but I think the key ones are:

Frith - I'm glad that things seem to finally be moving in getting things sorted out for your poor SS - I hope he'll be much happier from now on.

missmoneysave - I hope the doing nothing is doing the trick (if you see what I mean ;)) and you're feeling better already.

DD - I'm glad your trip to Birmingham went well. Was the Thai restaurant you visited the one right next to the Bullring? I went there on my last visit and wished I could bring the place home with me!

PK - that's truly great news about the job. :j

mhagster - I love your post today - it's lovely to hear you sounding so happy. :)

Apologies if I've missed any crucial updates!

Right, some pleasures from the past few days:

    1) Won the quiz and the bonus prize on Tuesday, and came third in Thursday's quiz, which will do something to feed up our currently rather skinny-looking Xmas meal kitty.

    2) Bought some RTC soup, and only realised when I got back that the assistant has accidentally put it through as 7p rather than 70p. I should have gone back, I know, but it was pouring and I couldn't face going back out in the rain! :o

    3) Advice from a friend on how to rescue my HM jam - I obviously did something wrong as it's gone mouldy on top, but I think it should be salvageable now.

    4) Went out for dinner with my DSis last night, which was very pleasant even though we did have to send the chips back as they tasted of fish (unpleasant for me, potentially very unpleasant for my sister as she's a long-term vegetarian and tends to react quite badly to meat or fish ). We were promised a replacement but they never turned up, which turned out to be a good thing as their portions are huge and we were stuffed anyway! :o (We got our money back, of course. :money:)

    5) Found a cheap DVD of the original series of Bagpuss, which my sister loved!

    6) Sister didn't wake up until gone 12 today, which meant I could get on with some much-needed studying (much needed as I've been out so much recently I'm in danger of falling behind :o).

    7) Lunch out today before sister went home - the TV in the pub was tuned to the horse racing, which I don't usually watch but thoroughly enjoyed. We had to leave before Frankel's race, unfortunately, but my sister and I both fell in love with a very handsome chestnut called Cityscape. (Any of the horse racing sorority on here know him?)

    8) Enjoying having my flat to myself again this evening. :o I love having my sister to stay, but it's also nice not having to knock every time I enter the living room (which connects the bedroom to the rest of the flat, so it's not somewhere I can easily avoid).

    9) I had a big lunch so I don't need much this evening - I'll have my uber-cheap soup with some garlic doughballs I got free with a pizza delivery a while ago which went straight into the freezer. :money:

    Have a good evening, all.
Back after a very long break!
  • Good evening all !

Mcculloch and Skint- I don't have ANY finger nails left !! I chewed them all off before 4.15pm ;) Wow what can I say , I don't think I will ever see a horse like Frankel in my lifetime . Sir Henry is a legend anyway .The colt had switched off in the parade ring and going down to the start , so I was not surprised he needed a teeny shake up after he got left in the starting stalls. Just shows how classy he is .I wish they would ban the parade in front of the crowd . Racehorses are taught to "jump off" when the handler gets them on to the racecourse , many have boiled over before the start . I led up in one of the Grand Nationals in the '80's - 40 horses getting in a right state in the stupid parade, not funny or necessary?A bliddy free for all when 40 horses are lining up at the tapes :(

    Dr Mcculloch Jessen:)

PK - sometimes only a sleep can wipe out head pain . I am glad you feel better now.

    5 for today

    1. Went in to town with OH . Got some bargains for the many birthdays my family seem to have in October, November and December.

    2. Banked some change - more to put towards our Christmas meal .

3.Took advantage of the Q & B 20% offer and asked my cousin to pick up four fence panels and trellis. I said that I would go Dutch with my Mum , who is responsible for it really. It looks nice. The chickens grew another foot taller when they saw fence panels "walking" by:rotfl:

    4. Had an afternoon snooze.

5.Got a top rtc for £3 in Primarni with little zebras on it and a lacy dress .I had one just like it in the mid '80's :rotfl:

    Have a good evening all!

Happy 2 year birthday of being in Oz :)

    1. Feeling a bit delicate this morning after the quiz, I had a pretty quiet day....

    2. Thankfully (but am also very irritated) the insulation chap didn't turn up and didn't bother to call, so DD and I were able to enjoy watching a film on DVD

    3. Fresh sheets on my bed tonight, lovely

    4. Just had a shower and feel all sparkly clean

    5. Put my academic record into teacher training application site. Darn it, I can't remember what courses were on my degree 18 years ago, so am just going to have to put "French studies" 100% 3 years and hope that's ok. It's all changed since my day, etc etc.....but at least I'm another step closer!

    6. Lovely bits of salad and hummous and crackers for lunch and oh so deelish baked potato for dinner (could have done without forgetting the skewer was hot and burning a few fingers though!!)

    7. Strictly was great :) Love them all, apart from the ones that deserve to go, they know who they are.....!

    8. Lots of lovely cuddles with the cat we're popping over to feed, none from the guinea pigs or fish though, good job the kitty loves us!

    9. I can recognise that I'm starting to feel a bit low over the last 2 or so days and am going to have to get out my CBT books and do some work before it takes hold.....not much of a pleasure, but at least I'm aware!

    10. Looking forward to church tomorrow morning :)

Hugs Kittikins - felt a bit that way myself over the past week or two. Always do at this time of year. It isn't easy only liking summer..

Was on a real downer last night, couldn't be a rsed to post, wallowed in my kitchen in my misery :o

So, for the past 2 days

    1. DD made it to half term. it's been touch and go but she has finally admitted that she really likes the school :T
    2. Made marmelade - only from a tin as I can't be doing with cutting up all the marms. it is very easy and very nice.
    3. Lunch with the girls - tho mine wasn't all that
    4. Yoga - nice to feel the s t r e t c h again
    5. Having a dump  of 2 bags of rubbish, some old carpet underlay and a bag of rags :D

    Today

    1. walked miles and miles and miles - to train station and home, from oxford station to sil house and back. More weightwatchers points
    2. catching train to Oxford - so much nicer than driving
    3. Coffee and bacon sarnie in the covered market.
    4. SIL house - what an amazing improvement. It really isn't the same house
    5. Pizza xpress courtesy of Mr T (well and my CC) but nice to give them a treat and all the kids enjoyed it.
    6. Bought a skirt in White Stuff (I know, Frith, but I never find them in charity shops), but had a 15% off voucher + a gift token so only paid £13.

There was an article about Frankel in the Telegruff magazine today. I didn't read it
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Dear mms - quickly looking in and out.
Just want you to remember that Number One on that list is 'learning to let go'.

That apart, while ptnr's bruv is sorting out your heating, nip over here to me for some 'misty but clean and crisp', altho it's a grey start. We'll be loading trailer for the dump -garden stuff and neighbour's 'little farm' DIY leftovers which I offered to sort yesterday. About 3 runs should do it, then I'll sit out while you find another mug, okay?
    Tea - black please:-)

I was listening to these earlier, the letters of Winston and Clementine Churchill, 'Pug' and 'Cat'. This really was a total loving partnership, dysfunctional though several offspring turned out to be[mirrors something of Dickens' unspoken disappointment and another of my revered, IK Brunel. You might find them both gentle and strong to listen to....while you continue along the Path of Pastry. A little something with our tea would be très nice.

Nearly bedtime here, almost start of a new week. How quickly 2 days off go!

    Sunday pleasures:
    1. Me up early and had a potter, did my ironing, listened to a borrowed from library CD.

2.sunday scone and read through the supplements.

    3. We all went out shopping, needed a new Hoover or vacuum cleaner as they are called here! The one we had kept cutting out after a few minutes, would manage to get one room done at a time, then would have to wait ages again! So a fabulously powerful Hoover and a clean house again....every room! Managed to get it at a reduced price. They are very expensive ( as everything seems to be! ) here.

    4. Came home , had a bath, finished the book I was reading. Into my Jim jams :)

    5. Lovely chicken tacos and salad for tea.

    6. We had popped up to see kangaroos which live near by the shopping centre we were at, the housing estate being built has taken up so much of the land they lived on. We were disappointed not to see them when......hurrah.....boing,boing boing over the hill a mob came bounding. Not very mat left it seems. Sad that their habitat has been destroyed for the sake of some huge houses.
  • Sleep tight Mhags. Good news your 2 years in Aus.

Thrid pleasure. I am absolutely steaming.
