Welcome Wuvvies
Both DH and I spent the day in the garden, I dug a boarder then also put bricks in at an angle to make a line to strim to, to find I can’t do straight lines for anything:rotfl: so it’s a not quite straight brick boarder. Tidied up where the shed will be built, while DH cleared all around the pond, this took us all day!:o
1. Some Garden work done, and a scary amount left to go for such a smallish garden.
2. Mash and quiche with leftovers was lovely.
3. Meal planning, so roast dinner tomorrow, yum followed by left over roast the day after.
4. IceAge 3 is on in the background.
5. Time to apply for a few more jobs tonight, I work on the idea that then recruiters go into the application
6. Looking forward to a bath I seem to be rather mucky from the garden work.
7. Nice to catch up with DB who is missing his son safely ensconced away at Uni now.0 -
Welcome minicazzybee and wuvvies
vjsmum water testing?
Well done on the gardening pk i cleared lots but didnt put my new heathers in yet as think i need to get some peat or environmentally friendly alternative to dig into raised bed -all that weeding has lowered its level
1) another stunning autumn day -all the windows open, washed all the floors and general clean
2) lots done in the garden too including good turn for neighbours
3) scrummy tomato and lentil soup made with passata (29p from l!dl)
4) while sorting cupboard found one fruit slice in box. Bbf end sept but still fine. Had with custard and thought of sonny
5) watched silly chick flick and managed after several goes to master single crochet:TMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Another warm welcome to minicazzybee and wuvvies. Sparrer, go to the Art Gallery in Barcelona - it's astonishing and our ticket lasted two days.
1) Got some new walking boots. The old ones have been up mountains, down bogs and done sterling service on the allotment but now let in water so we shopped locally and got a named brand for £40. Part of the pleasure was the guy in the shop. He was so helpful and patient, even after we'd had about eight pairs out.
2) Went for a lovely walk with DH in the sunshine. A sort of moving date.
3) My brother and SIL arrived unexpectedly as we were coming back for lunch. Fortunately, there was enough food in the fridge for quite a decent meal and we got some family issues aired without having to go through any third parties, which always helps.
4) Am wearing my woolley, which is extremely warm, and am not feeling breathless over the horizontal stripes yet. DH says he likes it.
5) Made Salade Nicoise with DS for tea out of the left-overs from lunch.0 -
Don't think ever posted on this board...! Hello!
Today -
1) mended as a favour a friends jumper which had a big unravelling hole in, that she had given up on! quite pleased with my handiwork!
2) had a long hot bath, not sure how OS that really is but was heavenly!
3) baked a cake using up very ripe pears that needed eating
4) went to aldi, spent money but was bargains of things would normally buy aka lager! :-D
5) had a lovely cup of free coffee that I was sent as a thank youI love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D
Trying to find a work life balance...:rotfl:0 -
Hello new chums, ouch to poorly chums and yay to lovely weekends all round by the sound of it!
My recent pleasures......
1. Very spendy day at Co$tco today but have bought DD a fabulous C-word present that she chose and has promised me she will forget all about, a chemistry set and also a present for my bro....
2. Great day at a uni's open day yesterday, came away really excited about the prospect of applying
3. Lovely weekend with my folks
4. A couple of glasses of nice wine last night whilst watching Chicken Run with DD and my parents.
5. A lie-in this morning, much needed as my cold is still lingering
6. Bought a new pair of reading glasses in primarnii yesterday, for £1! They're rather lush, feel nicer than my Spexsavers ones.
7. Great guitar jam with DD and my dad on banjo. I'm now looking at getting her private lessons rather than the group ones.
8. Watching a good film now but really do need to get some sleeeeep!

Just before I i-play another David Barby antiques In Memoriam programme -
1. A full day's digging and gardening, probably looks like an hour's effort to most, but isn't.
2. Secondary herb[mostly]bed triangle adjacent to kitchen dug out and re-planted. Quite a few bits were saved/grown on by self, which feels good and surprising. Hope they survive, especially the banana mint and the tiny autumn cyclamen.
3. Following recent OS green-fingered ?, took courage and upended all rhubarb tubs, split crowns with spade and have put them in a stretch of ground beyond raspberries. My failure to do so earlier is something to do with reluctance to think of permanence here.
4. Also set to out back along boundary with farm and de-nettled, de-brambled, dug, weeded and struck in a number of things to make a line: hibiscus, St John's wort, cotoneaster, pennyroyal, lemon balm[found old pot half-dead] iris, honeysuckle, all odds and sods having been potted by me in years past[many from birdy-poohed seeds that 'took' in ground or grass below fence]. Finally I've done something with some of them. Sorted out round foot of elderberry tree and planted that with more.
5. Before any of this, got to grips with PAYG phone and successfully made it internettable again. Achieved this by following instructions, which is an extraordinary event in its own right. £7.50 monthly and I'm defensive to self about it, a recent indulgence, but DO find it v. useful.
6. Had terrific listening throughout day in form of T20 cricket commentaries - Ladies'[England lost by 4 runs]and Chaps', a bizarre and astounding match won, I am glad to say, by the Windies. This may help good sporting times return for them.
7. Zapped casualty rhubarb with wrinkly apples and dried apricots with h/m rosehip syrup. I made it 2 years ago and haven't tried any yet. Smells lovely and will be good with the yogurt I usually eat au naturel.
8. Chicken carcass for stock embellished as I dug with odd stems and leaves of rainbow chard etc., and herby/salady things gone to seed.
9. Robin and blackbird company and song throughout the day with the cricket. A happy mix. They couldn't wait for me to move on from one bit of digging to the next.
10. Remaining bag of wild apples rough-chopped and simmered down through the day with mint, basil and rosemary. Jelly to come.
11. Another 400 gms framboises. That's 700gms in the current bag.
12. dd- I have only i-player and computer too. Still haven't been able to sort digital changeover from over 18 months ago. It doesn't really bother me.
13. I have these good things in memory bank to carry me through tomorrow's Big Dental Final.
14. Only just opened yesterday's mail. Crikey! a letter from London end shipping agents saying that my 13 cubic metres[as much as that?!?] of goods ex-NZ will be in 9 October and to please return to them 'the forms enclosed'. No prizes for guessing there are no forms enclosed....also means I need to get there this week, before storage charges start mounting.
15. A decent pair of fair autumn weather days, for which upward thanks...but still no hot water.
16. May skip watching to read instead - 'We Still Have Paris' is a lively and very readable scholarly warts'n'all a/c of the US tourist experience i.e. fascination with /loathing of, Paris and France through that particular 'golden age', up to - say - the late 30's and then through/beyond WWII.
Happy 'Come on in' to wuvvies, pinky pig, minicazzybee and any newbies who lurk or pop in here. You're all welcome, very :-)!CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Evening all, and a warm welcome to all the newbies
PQ thank you for that, it's on our list but nice to have a recommendation
VJsmum just listened to Rufus Wainwright version but it didn't do it for me. I did run through some of his stuff on Utube though and loved his and Martha's version of Hallelujah
1. Hot shower followed by a (too) long lazy breakfast. Thanks to ampersands white steel toe-capped wellies I got a lot done before going to a meeting with friends
2. Called into Mr M for rf cream and rf cheese, both of which were ys
3. Stopped at the little bungalow in a nearby village for eggs, the large ones look almost like duck eggs!
4. My Barcelona travelling companion came for lunch and planning of next week's itinerary. She didn't leave til 9pm, it's going to be a very full 5 days
5. Praise where it's due - I tried to enter some essential details on the Ezejet site but it was down. Phoned and spoke with a very helpful, polite and efficient young lady who sorted the problem and dealt with it in about a minute.
Jiggered, going to bed to dream of museums, cathedrals and cable cars. Sleep tight0 -
Good morning all !

2. Washing dried on the line.
3.Did a bit of "research" of possible outfits for my brother's party next year - toying with an '80's fancy dress theme came up with Robert Palmers girls (Addicted to Love video) or the Dungaree'd clad female in "Come on Eileen" -Dexy's Midnight Runners . The former will be easy. I greased my hair back and slapped on bright red shiny lipstick OH just stared ......mesmerised by my big mouth..( a bit blow up doll like) .:rotfl:
4. Eight hens marched in to the kitchen at 12.02 as their "dinner" was 2 minutes late!!!!
5. Easy day , chicken pie (UnYummy!!!) for tea rtc from Mr.A . Did 20k on the exercise bike as feel sluggish .
Have a good day all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

Nope - it is alledgedly the second most boring profession behind accountancy (apologies to any accountants) but I don't think it is. often work with a bloke called Bob.VJsmum just listened to Rufus Wainwright version but it didn't do it for me. I did run through some of his stuff on Utube though and loved his and Martha's version of Hallelujah
No Rufus is a bit marmite but I proper love him. I was in the second row for the Judy Garland concert and adored every minute of it - Martha was there too as well as their mum, Kate Mcgarrigle (RIP). I am gutted that his next concert at Symphony Hall is when I am off in Korea again.

Why thank you - that is one of the nicest things you could have said. I rather think "It takes one to know one". Robert Palmer bird is a great idea. What is OH going as?
Welcome to all the lovely new people.
Yesterdays - I think there were some pleasures despite me not getting Glastonbury tickets
1. At least the fact that they sold out in an hour and forty minutes meant I could do something else with my day
2. DS team won 4 -1 and he got man of the match :T
3. Knitting and Downton - perfect Sunday. Though the story lines get more and more ridiculous, however the knitting lines were straight
4. Blackberry and apple crumble for pud with free blackberries and apples
5. 2 loads of washing line dried - almost.
Painters are in today and reckon they'll be finished on Wednesday so we can get straight again and get a carpet ordered for early next week.I wanna be in the room where it happens0
