ampersand - I'm shocked and saddened that you don't like Just a Minute (or as DD calls it, Half a Second
)....!

Thanks TILAMS, No-one got murdered. Nearly, but I managed to control myself. Thank God for the Serenity Prayer.
I'm not a great chocolate lover ampersand but there are times it's appropriate. Yesterday was one of those times so thank you for the kind thought
Managed to glean a couple of pleasures from yesterday's disastrous visit to DM. They really are becoming difficult, I don't look forward to them at all so I empathise greatly with Caterina's holiday to her family. Unfortunately DM drinks roughly 1/2 bottle of brandy a day, and has recently started to critisice everything I do/wear/say etc., particularly the amount I used to drink. She can be pretty spiteful and deriding, and yesterday she actually poured me a brandy when she said she was making tea. It's been a while but still one day at a time. However, my responsibility to deal with it, with the help of my programme and my sponsor, of course, so all will be well. No wurries, as my lovely Aussie friend would have said
1. Mways reasonably clear, drove 'sensibly' and used less petrol than I usually do going to Henley
2. There was a street market with a rug stall with a yellow/beige/cream vaguely-striped rug ideal for my newly decorated lounge. Did a bit of mental arithmetic and decided I could afford it, in fact it was perfect so I would have afforded it whether I could or not. Not really OS but a bargain price for a pure wool rug. A very kind gentleman saw me struggling with the rug in one arm and DM hanging onto the other so took the rug all the way to the car park for me.
Today
1. Neighbour's DD had her baby boy by C-section. All is well
2. Gym - felt the need to work hard after yesterday so took my frustration out on the vertical traction. Increased the weights so much that every times the bars/handles went up I almost flew up with it. At least it made the other members laugh
3. Called in to Mr M, their YS meat section was a treasure trove. Got two ribs for £1 each, both have cut into three good pieces, a piece of frying steak for 60p and 2 lamb chops for £1.05p. Lots of meals for little money:)
4. DNeighbour (t'other side) made some French cream slices and gave me one with tea and sympathy.
5. Painted the hand rail the plasterer had to remove to plaster the stair wall, hardly got any paint on me for a change
6. Mr M had some beautiful lemon begonias for £1.25p, on of which is now sitting on my sideboard making me smile every time I look up and see it

1) Rediscovering my jumpers and finding one that goes with a favourite necklace. I'm sure I put them together last year too but it seems such a long time ago.
2) Taking decluttered highlighters and sticky notes to work, where someone might use them.
3) DS being tech support when I got my emails in a twist.
4) Curry for supper, cooked yesterday while the oven was on and reheated for a few minutes this evening.
5) Some of our apples for dessert, peeled and dipped in Greek yoghurt. An odd dessert but tasty.0 -
Sorry kittikins and DD - not my verre du vin.
I'm enjoying these 2 newbies though:

and there was sth else new in either the lunch or evening funny slot, but I didn't catch its title.

sparrer - this:

Hugs to all who needs them, especially Frith and Sparrer.
Here are mine for today:
1. The cold is receding, feeling much better
2. Got Dinner ready in the morning (leftovers soup all blended and enriched with bulgur wheat) so no need to cook on my return from afternoon work with the boys school pick up
3. Started serious clearing up of paperwork, burned a ton of old documents in the woodstove
4. The boys behaved relatively well today and their mum seems to like my way of caring for her kids.
5. Being here at home with my family feels wonderful, a real grace and privilege. Am quietly happy.
Good night all xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Have a good day all!
Sparrer, You come across as a very strong lady within your posts, family can be trying.
I've woken up to a very ill animal, shooting off to the vet and hoping for a better outcome than I fear it maybe:(0 -
Morning
Sparrer - Hugs, families can be a blessing and a curse all at the same time.
VJsmum - Glad to hear DD is settling in at college and keeping fingers crossed she gets the part she wants in the production
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. I had a NSD even if DD didn't with my money
2. HM butternut squash soup made in the morning so lunches sorted for me this week just wish DD and OH would eat it.
3. Another baby blanket finished, have made 2 now out of the 5 requested. Have had enough wool in the house to make the first 2 but will have to top up stocks to make the rest.
4. Managed to finish something at work that I kept putting off and in the end was so easybut at least one of the department managers is now happy as we have a new accreditation even if it is a sham one IMO.
5. Simple dinner of lamb and noodles followed by current favourite dessert of frozen fruit kebab (I know I'm strange but honestly they are yummy)
Hugs to all who need them0
