Good evening all !
VJsmum - what can I say ??? oink oink;)
Caterina- what a lovely post !
5 for today
1. Rubbish day at work -no management cover , no staff cover so minimal phone cover.Still I am off tomorrow:D
2.OH engrossed in preparing for his tribunal tomorrow- pumped up with the drink that gives you wings , eyes on stalks .... I don't think he will be a Tamworth tonight :rotfl:
3. Hens a bit too pleased to see me when I got in as OH had not given them any attention today. One jumped on the half door in the kitchen which was not locked so she was swinging on the half open door opening it so the other seven could get under my feet in the kitchen.
4. Gone cowardy - phoned up place I had job interview with next week ...to decline. If the application form had stated that if selected for int. you would have to take a test and then another interview I wouldn't have applied anyway tbh. The HR person asked why, and I said that I had been out of this role for over 3 years and would not represent myself fairly , new legislation. in place and would be freaked out doing the "test"then would have an hour interview, feeling like a thick twit. The other way round would be better , surely?? HR person said mine was a good app . few were selected and it shouldn't put me off applying in the future. My colleagues said they would strap me in to the Evac chair and wheel me down there to make me do it :rotfl:
5. Wartime Farm - I believe pigs were "rationed";):AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all.
A quick five while my dinner's cooking:
1) Received a HUGE box of chocolates from a student's mother in thanks for some help I'd given him.I'm not keen on chocolate, as you know, but it's the very generous thought that counts, and I'm sure my colleagues will enjoy them.
2) A bowl of minestrone-flavour pasta risotto for lunch. (It started out as a rather thick minestrone soup, but I always forget how much liquid pasta soaks up and it had set solid by lunchtime.)
3) Bought a pack of SO Chinese snacks in M&$, and only realised after paying that I'd been charged far more than the price label indicated. It turned out the pack I'd picked up had been put in the wrong place so they gave me my money back - probably a good thing as there isn't really room in the freezer for them anyway.
4) Didn't get to meet up with my DF after work - that's a pleasure because it means his journey to London and back went smoothly and he didn't end up getting stuck in Portsmouth waiting for a ferry.
5) Pub quiz tonight, if I can stay awake long enough after being back at work all day!
Caterina - I'm glad you made it back safely.
Frith - that's a seriously posh cinema!
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Apols for last night, I had a Treadderectomy, a stoked Pu$$y anbd a massive blow back, all in the same timeframe.
5 Was out on Treadder, when tanking it, handlebars came rather floppy and loooooose. No brakes and as long as the canal strayed on the right, somewhere on hill to bridge I should stop. Phew, close. had to walk it off, well home. Quickly fixed and out agains this very fine morning. Minded me of reading Frith and her puncture repairs.
4 Then had rit it all last night and blessed tiger, our pu$$y needed [STRIKE]stoking[/STRIKE] feeding and flew up razor clawing, down goes OiPod with offering to one n all, loosing it I did.
3 That was a call for wobbleades .. Cheers!
:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:
2 Ms Sonny is out on her bits tonights so I has freedomn of the Spa. Should be curl up[ toes time and a couple of jars of fermented watres for me. That should ensure that the snores are back.
1 Want some more friends?, one who listen and care. Shut up then and sit at bar and listen. Do not complain but say, Wow, that is so ...I hvae nt snept th lst fw mntes writg ths post fr yu t cme alng hre nd agre wth m!
Cheers! :beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:0 -
Another strange pleasure. Have just removed the stitches from next door's cat.
They'd been in for weeks (after neutering) and she said she was pushed for time to drive down to the vets. So I snipped the knots off and pulled.0 -
Evening all
1) Not very MSE but had a nice lunch with DD before posting her on a train back to Uni. Felt a little sad but DS is going to an Open Day nearby so we will see her in two weeks.
2) The promise of a jumper from a friend who knows I've been looking for an enormous jumper since the demise of my favourite grey one.
3) Heaven and Earth for tea - roast potatoes, apples and bacon all done on the same tray - with some of our beans on the side.
4) DS has gone out for a pint with some friends.
5) Sitting in front of a roaring fire made with logs from our trees. Rather too hot actually, but at least the heating isn't on.0 -
Caterina Welcome back
Chickenopolis:- I completely understand I didn’t want to write this yesterday as I didn’t want to put you off but I freak out at tests and exams, any job that wants a presentation interview is a complete no go here, it stresses me out so badly I would call it a phobia, I thought it was just a peculiar thing to me.
1. There was left over catering carrot cake on the side at work from a meeting, so I had a slice, followed by the book lady noticing how my face lights up at books, and she gave me some promotional books, they’ve been reviewed on Richard and Judy and they are free,:p I warned her I am leaving next week but she doesn’t mind I am getting a couple more tomorrow.:T
2. Went from work to Lidl for something specific but didn’t get it but picked up fruit and veg.
3. Just made err what would be the word for it a “frittata” leftovers inc potato, egg, peas, cheese grilled tasted okish.
4. DH took poorly animal to the vet, where he’s been treated, he’ll be sleeping in with us for the next few weeks while the treatment kicks in . It was ouchy expensive but the animals have their own cash. They are better off than us.:rotfl:
5. I’ve got to do some job hunting tonight, I have had a few recruiters ring up with amazingly well paid roles but it would mean staying away from home, and DH and I just aren’t sure we are game for that at the moment, the money would be lovely, but not worth not having a life at all for x months. Mabbe thats why we are broke:rotfl:

Evening all, briefly as my eyes keep closing - so frustrating when I'm trying to listen to a programme on the radio
Welcome back Caterina, so good to have you back in the fold
1. 1 hour treadmill, almost completed the computer circuit for the first time
2. Load of washing line dried in the breeze
3. kitchen and bathroom floors washed on hands and knees, it always seems to look much cleaner than when I use a mop
4. Friend in for tea, spent four hours talking through some issues and she said she felt a lot clearer as she left. Shades of TILAMS #1? She brought me a lovely wrought iron three tiered plant stand for the garden
5. Found a builders yard that sells a 25kg sack of salt for £6.50. I use it for Winter of course, but also one mug dissolved in 3 litres of boiling water and poured on the cracks of the patio gets rid of weeds for about 6 months. The 25kg sack should last about two years for my size patio. Much cheaper, and a better option than, chemicals
Can't stay awake another minute so up the wooden stairs to Bedfordshire...not far to go then! Sleep tight0 -
I've just checked and it's 9 days since I posted! How did that happen?!
Hugs to all needing, Mhagster in particular.
Chicken don't be put off for next time. I can remember being horrified at one interview that involved a practical test with online materials.
But I'd done the job before, so gave it my best shot.
Everyone else seemed so confident - it was a group interview at this point. I remember one woman whom I was convinced would land the job.
It turned out I was the best person by far at the practical test as I was the only one who could do it well and I landed the job on the strength of that. The others must have been panicking inside and bluffing like mad.
So, my pleasures!
1. Being told I am eligible again for Disabled Person's Tax Credit. The falling income since last Dec. has been a worry, but I was told a few weeks ago to apply in April on the basis on 2012-13's income. That was duff info. TG I rang again, as I was sure it was wrong.
2. How's this for random luck? The fire brigade knocked on my door thinking it was part of the residential home next door. They were fitting smoke alarms to vulnerable people's homes. My walking stick was duly spotted and 15 minutes later I had lithium powered smoke alarms fitted upstairs and down replacing elderly normal ones. 10 year guarantee.
3. Clare Balding's new book in post.
4. Offered Gareth Malone's new 'Choir' book as a freebie on Vine. Accepted.
5. My new fur-lined mock Crocs that were a fiver from Ald*. Others now in wash and fragrant again.
6. Arthritis has been improved of late - I am trying to eat less and it seems to be working. I rarely watch TV but was transfixed during the Olympics and Paralympics and the weight went on so easily.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Sparrer, I'd forgotten the salt trick for the patio. Thank you. I swear they add slow acting fertiliser to chemical 'patio' weed killers so that the beggars will grow back...Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Hello everyone. All this talk of pigs is very funny. I lost my keys and the vicar sed to pray to st anthony but not the egyptian one cos he's the patron saint of pigs. Since then my world is full of porcine references (but i did find my keys)
1) had a meeting on main campus so walked in with OH
2) freshers at uni being given guided talks. I was working in the silent zone. Cue 15 students trailing after librarian saying loudly 'and this is the silent zone' oh the irony
3) bumped into DS who was off to a lecture :T
4) DD1 still home. Lovely hearing her violinig and pianoing. She's written a piano piece as well -very nice
5) Watching first series of coupling. My sides hurt soooooo much from laughing :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
K one more episode then definitely off to bed...MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
