DD - do watch them, all on i-player atm. Montalbano may be nothing like your imagining of him[and the viscous liqueury accent is something special, even when le français is my preferred tongue. It's that sublime Mediterranean ancience partout that fells me every time] I was quickly happy with them all, although no Livia yet in the one I saw hier soir. Let us know what you think.

TILAMS I wish they'd have left the education system as it was pre-comprehensive. They have to change things, it seems for the sake of change, too often, and when they're not happy with their new system they do it again! Not an academic so I don't understand the reasoning behind all of it but surely it's not only difficult for the teaching profession, but also expensive
    ampersand thank you.
Chicken congrats on your first day back, and driving the OGV. I wonder if it's the one beginning with M, I'd love a roadster but that will remain a dream as I doubt I could see over the dashboard! :D
PK lots and lots of luck with the applications, will keep everything x'd for you
Skint congrats on your savings, much more like that and you'll have to change your name ;). I usually get get no more than 20p, but it's better than nothing..

    1. Made my first chapatis - not sure how but I ended up with lots of oddly shaped bases for canapes/mini pizzas/what have you. Will have another go later in the week
    2. Called into the farm shop for dog/cat supplies. As I came out I spotted a lone parsnip on the ground, immediately thought of ampersand's trailer foraging and grabbed it, if only for the dog!
    3. DS sent me some money for a new set of hubcaps
    4. A friend visited this pm, she was very pleased with the little gift I brought back from my weekend away. She's lovely to listen to, talks a lot of sense and makes it interesting at the same time
    5. Have just booked me and the muttley into a B&B in Devon for a few days in November for a quiet break, and maybe visit one or two old friends at the same time.

    Sleep tight :)
  • Good morning all !

Kittikins - good luck at the school .

Sparrer - The OGV begins with an "A" - they call me "fifty shades of grey" at work ... except hers was a red one ;) I do like the "M's" too nice solid cars .

PK - good luck with the job application - go for it !!

Have a good day all !

    2. DD enjoying frozen fruit kebab when she got in, cheap and healthy most unlike my DD
    3. NSD
    4. Catch up with a friend at lunch time and a few giggles. Nice to see her smiling.
    5. Nice chat with dad on the phone and he has offered to buy DD a kindle for her birthday (anything to encourage her to read) so off to order it for her now, lucky girl.

Hello, been MIA past few days as we have had poor Internet connection again. I can read your posts on my phone but it takes ages but I do keep up with your pleasures.

OH saw another specialist this morning, more tests to follow and we are both quite worried and scared what they will reveal. Got upset at work but all my lovely colleagues were very kind.

    1. I asked DD1 to hang a washing out(again) she forgot....the pleasure? After A beautiful sunny start to the day it poured!

2.ducklings, lorikeets , parrots, moorhens .....I always say old morning as I walk to work from carpark.

3.went swimming again on Sunday morning.

    4. DD2 has a night off from being an actress tonight....last night tomorrow which I'm going back to.

    5. DS has just applied for his university courses next year.....yikes! Where does time go to?

    6. I bought a lemon tree! Well a little one....looking forward to growing my own lemons!

Take care and have a good day :)

Good afternoon, not been here for ages, but thought I'd make some extra time today :)

    My pleasures are:

    1. Small pink slept through until 6.45am, which was bliss as she's had a couple of weeks of disrupted sleep due to a cold.

    2. The sun is shining and I still have lots of things to eat growing in the garden.

    3. I spent a lovely half hour in bed this morning browsing through Nigel Slater's new book, whilst OH played with little pink, and as a result came up with a dish of tarragon chicken to use up the leftover chicken in the fridge, now all cooked and awaiting the children coming home!

    4. I found a nail polish I bought months ago and put 'somewhere safe', so will be able to paint my nails when I get a bit of peace tonight!

    5. I'm off to meet OH for a coffee whilst he's on his break this afternoon, a bit of time for us to chat and catch up in between his mad shifts :)

Have a good day all xxx

I is entickled as to what as dubbled in price! Shame they now servce KitKat in foiled wrappers instead of tins.

5 &rcgh. GroinAche. That bastion of the [STRIKE]working class[/STRIKE]. Got better than my parrot. Sorry, but ... Another reason we has too many tick boxes in schools and not enuff skills in the workshops.

4 Well, TILAMS did come up with his usual warning YestaDay. Cor, now all I needss is Scoical Workers, Educationalist and the truancy officer telling me that keeping kids forced fed in school until 21 is good for them. Thare is always shelves at the emporium for them to stack when the finmish with their paper qualifications.

3 Blooming chain slipped again this morning and after a quick slam dunk, bounced back.

2 Dog and Onion rolls for munch with jellied fruits and ices as well. Lubbly. and a jars of wobbleades tro wash it up with.

1 I am not scrap at the age of 12, why did you test me, yet never saw my woodwork! Notice at the event I attended last night.

    Post Dog Roll Edit.

    Afternoon all.

Well, I'm back, albeit half asleep as mog decided to welcome me home last night by singing to me on and off from 2.30am onwards. And to think I was looking forward to coming home to a bit of peace after a weekend in a city centre! (My hotel room overlooked New Street, which is blocked to traffic with some barriers which speak an alarm when a vehicle gets too close - or indeed if a person walks in front of the trigger point (as I found out, not entirely intentionally, on the way back one night :o) - I've rarely come across anything quite so annoying as that spoken alarm, particularly in the early hours of the morning.)

Anyway, some pleasures from the last few days:

    1) Fantastic weather - I only got rained on twice, and on both occasions it was no more than a bit of drizzle which soon stopped.

    2) Canals. I love canals, and Birmingham's are particularly fine and well cared for.

    3) Exploring some lovely old buildings, the best of which was Aston Hall - highly recommended if you're ever in the area.

    4) The friendliness of the Brummies, many of whom seem to have a commendable enthusiasm for showing off their city - I found some areas which I would never have come across without insider help. :T

    5) Bought a couple of really nice pieces of jewellery - I went for quality rather than quantity, which is fairly OS, right? (Well, maybe! ;))

    6) My enthusiasm for Birmingham seems to have inspired my DM, who is now talking about possibly going to a forum meet-up there if I go too. :j (I'm not sure if it's this forum or another one she's a member of - both have some lovely people so I'd be happy either way.)

    7) The friend who looked after mog for me while I was away took all the jars I left on the side for her, to be filled with HM chutney. I like things to get used. :)

    8) Writing some reviews of the places I've visited - I don't know if anyone finds my reviews useful, but I enjoy writing them which is what counts.

    9) Thinking I might be very lazy tonight and extend my holiday by having dinner at the pub before the quiz starts - I'm just too sleepy to feel like cooking. :o

ampersand and mummysaver - welcome back - it's lovely to hear from you both. :)

    (((mhags))) and (((Frith))).
Back after a very long break!
