Evening all.
I must make more of an effort to read and post on this thread. Reading all your lovely posts does make me appreciate what I have got rather than what I haven't.
Mine for today are:
DS enjoying taking new mindee on the school run. He's reluctant about going to nursery and thought he'd assume that's where he was going (as it's at the same school) but for some reason was really excited about walking her there!
Had a lie down this afternoon and completely indulged myself by having a rest. Veeeeeeery early mornings taking their toll and DD was sound asleep in her cot.
Had a small firework display this evening which my parents, H and the kids all enjoyed (although the smoke it created was a bit choking). Not quite OS as the fireworks are bought but at least was part of a BOGOF deal
Eating some HM hobnobs - nice and crispy just how I like them
Loving the cooler weather (although not the wet stuff) and kicking up the leaves when we walk to and from school.
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Well done for looking after your friend Bella. :A
Sorry you are having to go through the legal process Rummer. x
Mine for today
1. Completely clearing my in-tray in the office. :j
2. Coffe with a friend and tickle time with her giggly little boy this afternoon.
3. Beef stew done in the slow cooker yesterday, served with bread and butter so no cooking today.
4. Spectacular fireworks display in the town and great pleasure from seeing my girls wrapped up in their hand knitted by me hats and scarves.
5. Home for hot chocolate and toffee.
Haribo x0 -

I really should come on this thread more often. It has such a feel-good-factor. Anyways here’s mine for today
1)making a batch of Twinks this morning (at 6.30!) to take to work
2)passing the recipe for said Twinks on to 2 people
3)actually buying a Christmas pressie, and it was half price (1st one I’ve got)
4)watching clips on youtube of past Lewes bonfire night…can’t be there in person, but there in spirit
5)realising that its Thursday and OH will be home tomorrow
Oh can I have a 6...DD texting me a pic of a magazine page, SIL had sent a pic of DGD2 for a smile of the month thingy and it was published, was probably only wind cos it was taken when she was about 5 hours old, but it was one hell of a smile :rotfl:whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine
Stopped smoking 20:30 28/09/110 -
Five pleasures for Thursday:
1. Waking up to a clean house.
2. Good home-ed meeting for DS2 and me.
3. Loving the drive to the meeting there and back through little villages and very pretty scenery. We don't rush it (so save fuel) and spot new things each time we do the journey.
4. Cold, leftover, stuffed courgette for packed lunch that sounds awful but was actually delicious.
5. Supper out with my parents tonight (they paid) and the meal was yummy.
Sweet dreams.

Wow!!! I dont think I have ever experienced that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That must be so nice, I usually trip over a toy or meet a pile of washing up or carpets need vaccumming or floor sweeping!! Or a pile of crisp packets/sweet wrappers next to where dh sits!!!!!!!!!!!! :P0 -
Thinking about it, I'm not sure I have either! I think that's why it was such a pleasure. I must try it more often.0

Evening all  - another wild, miserable day here again
.
bails - shame about the Village of Happiness - maybe one day. Sounds like your dad is looking forward to your wedding as much as you are
.
Muppet81 - well done on your 'waste not, want not' lunch :T.
SunnyGirl (and Louba) - do you mean to tell me that you're not supposed to sniff fabric conditioner bottles while shopping? wtg on sorting the digibox.
bunny too - thanks for the Lentil Pate recipe- it sounds lovely .
bella - how lovely to see you managing to find a couple of minutes to post - we know how busy you are at the moment, so it's really appreciated - as I'm sure your friend appreciates all you're doing for her.
Rummer - wtg on sorting out those work tasks :j.
Caterina - your long day sounds as though you need ((((HUGS)))) and well done to your DD and b/f for making dinner for you.
ACEY - sorry to hear you're having a drawn out court case, but good luck for when it actually goes to court. Sounds like you've had a lovely family bonfire evening.
Bitsy Beans - Good for you taking advantage of an opportunity to put your feet up this afternoon.
Haribo - sounds like you and your girls enjoyed your Bonfire Evening together.
nuttybabe - :T on your weight loss and great that people are noticing the difference.
Dazi - :j another person spreading the 'Twinks love' around.
Broomstick - well done on your No.1 - very rare it happens here and there's no children in this house (unles they're visiting) to blame for the mess either.
Mine for today:
1. Easy day in work and the 'Handy Man' arrived to sort out three tenants having digi problems.
2. Great freebie lunch of cheesey jacket halves, barbecue chicken wings, samosas, breadcrumbed mushrooms, salad, coleslaw, sausage rolls and wonderful assortment of sandwiches - Housing Trust really did us all proud . The meeting went well with lots of positive proposals put forward.
3. DD has had a good day and hosted a Bonfire Evening for her brother and some friends - looks like some of her confidence is returning.
4. DD also visited SureStart today and was given information about perhaps being able to claim extra money for dgd2's dietary needs (cow's milk intolerance). Also being pointed in the right direction for help for dgs1's ADHD/ADD/ASD - she has found (lost in the moving house process) the Education Psychologist's report where he stated that, in his opinion, dgs1 has ADHD and ASD - she hadn't realised the importance of what was in the report . Some days I despair of her, I really do!
5. Cooked diced Turkey Thigh, with onions, garlic, sliced peppers, mushrooms, tinner toms, shrivelled toms from fridge, courgettes, cayenne pepper and chilli powder and served with stonebaked garlic bread for evening meal. OH ate half of mine as well, as I'd had a good lunch lol.
That's all mine for today and I'm ready for beddy-byes now. Nitey nite love Ollie xxx0 -
Spicey Pumpkin Soup (have to say that this was my first attempt and I'm not even sure what it should taste like - but we've enjoyed this version lol
).
I used the flesh that I removed from the middle of the Hallowe'en Pumpkin and removed the seeds.
I chopped 2 onions and sweated them in some vegetable oil in the bottom of a heavy pan and added the chopped pumpkin flesh and some curry powder (to taste). As there was a lot of it in the pan, I was worried in case it 'caught' on the bottom while it was sweating, so I emptied it all into the biggest roasting tin that I've got and put it in the oven on Gas4 for about 30mins.
I then emptied it all into the Slow Cooker and barely covered it with boiling chicken stock (and the meat scraps) that I'd made from a couple of carcasses plus some dried mixed herbs, 1 veg stock cube, 1 chicken stock cube, a shake of celery salt and two handfuls of red lentils. My Slow Cooker is the 6.5l one - but you could use a really big pan (like a stock pot or a pressure cooker base) and do this on the hob. I let it cook for ages until I thought it looked thoroughly cooked.
At this stage, I let it cool down and then blitzed with my 'whizzie-stick'. I suppose, if you have the pumpkin flesh in small cubes you can perhaps leave it chunky, it's just that mine was scraped out of the pumpkin and very uneven/fibrous.
When it had really cooled down, I put it into margarine tubs with 2 servings in each one and freeze. Make sure you put the lids on properly and LABEL CLEARLY.
confession time - I didn't even buy the pumpkin - so it was a 'waste not, want not' freebie. DS2 brought it with the dgs's 2&3 for me to make a lantern while baby-sitting on Hallowe'en.0 -
