5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

-
1. Have finished my mealplan for next week - woohoo organised!
2. Eating sandwiches with homemade bread for lunch, delicious even though the bread has gone slightly stale...
3. Having two duvets on the bed, the house may be cold but I am like a bug in a rug, toasty warm! It does make it difficult to get out of bed in the morning, have been late for work two days in a row due to not being able to peel myself out of my nest
4. OS cooking this evening, going to make a squash and butter bean casserole for tea, some soup for tomorrow's lunch out of a bag of sorry looking carrots left in the fridge, and some sort of baked goodies - not sure what yet, possibly some fairy cakes yum yum
5. Finished knitting a scarf for my grandmas Christmas present last night, which has the added bonus of leaving me some spare yarn to finish my crochet blanket! Only 7 squares to go (72 in total), I know this has been mentioned in previous post but it is very exciting!0 -
Muppet81 That's wonderful news :j

Muppet81 that is fantastic news xxx
I'm a bit behind on this thread already so I'm going to have a read later and catch up.
1. A cuddle with my lovely family, we've had a rubbish few days and I've not been as patient or as loving as I want to be. Fresh start today.
2. The beautiful November sunshine.
3. Going to rhymetime with DD2.
4. A lovely coffee and biscuit.
5. Appreciating DD2 (15 1/2 months) is growing from a baby into a little girl. I finished bf her on Friday and although it feels the right time for both of us, I've still been feeling very sad about it. I'm going to stop dwelling and enjoy the new things we do together.
Have a lovely day everyone,
honey x0 -
Hi all and thank you very much for your congratulations - I feel truly blessed to have left all the mortgage worries behind. As I told my DH: now that we have a secure roof over our head, even if either or even both of us lost our jobs (hopefully not) we would still be able to make it ok, what with our frugal ways!
Muppet81, I am so glad for your good news about breast check, it reminds me I need to push for my doctor to send me for my first mammography (I am 52 and 3 months and still not been called).
Here are my five for today:
1 - Had a surveyor visit today. Although he found problems on the party wall, I am delighted that I have made such a fuss with the pesky neighbour that she is no longer having the load of her extension put on the party wall (the builder changed plans). It could have affected my house in a disastrous way. Now all I need to do is monitor the cracks etc and if they get bigger I can claim on insurance. A day well spent.
2 - Even with the surveyor in I managed to do most of my paid work (3 hours), just got to finish a couple of things now and I am totally done for the day.
3 - Good weather this morning, a load of towels washed and drying in the garden (being finished indoor now that it has started spitting with rain). The smell of fresh laundry dried in the fresh air is one of the best pleasures ever!
4 - DD coming to tell me that A) she has taken on board the "5 pleasures per day" habit - she thinks them in the evening rather than posting or writing themone of her pleasures of yesterday was when we were having a drink of tea in M&S cafe together and we were joking and laughing about her very clumsy dad (in the kindest possible way, not maliciously!).
5 - Planning to go and see my friend down the road once I have finished working, to discuss making some "morsbags" together in preparation for "no plastic bag day" in September 2010. If anyone does not know what a morsbag is, here is the link: http://www.morsbags.com/
Love to all

Honey, I remember that feeling well, I breastfed my twins until they were around 17 months and it was with a sense of grief mixed with relief that we made a mutual unspoken decision to stop the breastfeeding.
It is great that you have persevered so long, the benefits to you and your child are unquantifiably high. Also, you are in a minute percentage of mothers to do this - imagine that only 45% of UK born babies are still being breastfed at 1 week of age
Well done you and your darling little girl! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
So much for my good intentions of posting around lunchtime !
muppet81 - thank you for sharing your wonderful news with us - celebrating :j:T:dance::T:j with you.
BitsyBeans - I've been told that mine are 'lumpy, bumpy breasts' - how dare they call my pride and joys that! - so echoing what you posted .
funkymunky849 - lol at your two duvets on the bed. I've still got the option of attaching my lightweight duvet to the spring/autumn one - but I know that once I've done it, it will be like that till Feb at least - trying to hang on until December before I do it though
- but there are 2 of us in the bed
. I'm sure your Grandma will really appreciate a lovingly knitted scarf for Christmas - I tell my grandkids that there's love in every stitch when I knit them something
.
honey - ((((BIG HUGS)))) for you and your family. Don't believe all that 'permanently happy families' stuff in the adverts/magazines - most of us have our 'family wobbles' from time to time. The fact that you've all had a cuddle shows that you really love each other and THAT's all that really matters. Well done on fully weaning your daughter - do you think that the hormonal changes from that could possibly have something to do with how you've been feeling recently .......?
Caterina - love the morsbags ideaand wtg to your DD that she's thinking about the blessings in her life each day.
Mine for today are:
1. Think I may need to tell my DD to think about the pleasures/blessings in her life for when she's feeling down - her GP has given her Seroxat (for her panic attacks) and Valium2mg (to tide her over till the Seroxat kick in) to take when she feels the need. She had one of the Valium this morning  - but still hasn't taken the Seroxat. I'm not sure that I like the idea of her taking either of them as she is a single mum living alone with three children. She's very 'laid-back' as it is and frequently needs a 'rocket up the rear' never mind Valium !
2. Oh well Digi switchover day has arrived and I've had three tenants complaining today about not being able to get BBC1/2 on their boxes today. One of them is even getting BBC Wales instead :rotfl:. One aerial guy has told a 93yr old that her TV Aerial isn't compatible with the box - Oh yes it is! These aerials were installed three years ago with the intention of being digi-compatible - so I think he's on the make. No doubt there'll be lots of dodgy aerial engineers rubbing their hands with glee that people don't understand what's going on! Our Housing Association has arranged for our 'Handy Man Scheme' to visit to check any problems with the boxes/aerials etc.
3. dgs1 went into school with a smile on his face this morning at last :j and has made a friend of a little boy called Matt. Matt has drawn him a picture of them playing together and invited him for tea. dgd1 went to school, eventually - after much persuasion. Seemed to think she was getting a full week off after not being well on Monday - think again, little girl .
4. DD had her first Tenancy Inspection this morning. I'm sure this was one of the things that's been playing on her mind recently. All was well, so that's a relief.
5. Surprise visit from DD and dgd2 at lunchtime, then DS1 arrived as well. What on earth would my kids do if I had a regular 9-5 job like most people !
6. Three loads of laundry (for OH's grandad) done today, but will have to be dried on the airer/radiator rails as it's piddled down most of the day.
7. Need to get off to DD's in a couple of mins - she reckons that she's seen a 'walkie' in dgd2's hair and needs help to 'sort her out'. dgd2 is 2yrs old, with really thick, long dark hair (past the shoulders!) - so this could be a marathon job on our hands to keep her still - oh happy days.
will check in later after I've done my 'nitty norah' impersonation - love Ollie xxx0 -
I'm suffering a bit today from stuff but I'm trying to be positive.
Here's mine for the day though:
1) Finding cute little stocking fillers (pretty socks in reusable cupcake moulds) for £2 each - aww
2) Getting an impromptu lift home after an accident in town meant I couldn't get the bus back. Unfortunately it meant a 15 minute fast walk to the outskirts of town to get that lift, but at least I don't have to exercise tonight.
3) Enjoying eating fruit and seeing the benefits in my skin quality.
4) Cooking for myself as DH is out - which means it is just pasta with soup as a sauce. I enjoy that as a rare treat, but it's just what I fancy anyway.
5) Planning to make some Christmas decorations using some free thread from a magazine
I'm off to eat my tea and will be back in a bit. See you soon

Another lovely post Ollie :A My dog actually blocked the cycle path and caused chaos the other day with a huge stick/telegraph pole.
:D
Great news Muppet. :T
I too remember that feeling well Honey.
Pleasure are few and far between today but I shall try to scrape together a few...
1.Finding a chicken that went missing at 7am. Enlisted the help of neighbours, passers by and the bin men and found her 4 hours later sitting in a hedge about 8 feet from the garden.:o I suppose it was a pleasure to have entertained the neighbourhood.:o:D
2. Giggling at the man who, when I asked him if he'd seen my chicken in his garden, asked me to describe it.I mean... How many escaped chickens does he see every day? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
3. OH selling his boat at last and added some money to the Christmas pot.
4. Beef and beans in beer in the SC with a crusty loaf for tea.
5. A few rows of knitting in the garden while keeping a beady eye on the great escapee.
