    Mine for today

    1. HM curried pumpkin soup for lunch
    2. Batch cooking today knowing that I have the next 3 evening's meals made including tonight's kedgeree.
    3. Lovely trip to the woods between showers with the mad dog who insists on carrying sticks bigger than herself. :rotfl:
    4. OH working from home and insisting I go for a lie down after my cooking. I'm in bed now and he will brave the rain to collect the girls from school.
    5. Updating the budget and realising that I am sticking to it for the first time in ages. :o

    Happy Birthday ZippyChick.

    Hi all

Really quick one and sorry for not posting for a while, weekend in Bristol and then a couple of really difficult days due to some real nastiness from our next door neighbour.

Before I start on my pleasures, though, I want to give my warmest congratulations to firstyearisthehardest for your wedding, hope you have a long and happy life together!

And now for my pleasures for the last few days, in no particular order:

1 - The meet in Bristol was lovely, great to meet all the people there, old and new.

2 - The kindness and hospitality of savingforoz who put us up (me and DH) for the night.

3 - On Sunday the very unpromising morning rain stopped and the weather turned lovely, so we were able to walk all along the Bristol canals all day.

4 - Coming back home earlier because the megabus driver allowed us on an earlier bus for an extra £2 per person (which we would have spent anyway in a cafe waiting for the next bus!).

5 - Meeting an old acquaintance at the bus stop and traveling to London together, exchanging stories of our good times together (we used to go to hippy camps when we were much younger).

6 - Coming back to a lovely warm soup, courtesy of our DD.

    Today:

1 - Only ONE pleasure for today but it is so big that it is worth five (or more):

Today, after years of forking out extraordinary amounts of interest (on top of the capital) we are for the first time ever:

    Mortgage-free!!!

Love to all and catch up soon with all the missed posts.

    Caterina xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Wow - found this thread by 'accident' - which probably means it's no accident! Looks great. So here goes:

    1. Going for a walk and seeing the moon rising over a field on the edge of town
    2. Remembering how excellently the job interview went that got me the job that has brought me to this place from London!
    3. Eating a bowl of leftover HM chicken soup for lunch
    4. Eating a flapjack (before the soup ;-) that I'd taken home from an event (so was free)
    5. Meeting someone new that I liked.

Thanks to whoever had the idea to start this thread!

    Hi all

    Hope everyone is well.

    Mine for today are:

1 Being given 2 huge sacks of clothes for dd all in great condition

2 Finally getting round to sorting out dd's old clothes and bagging up a sackful to give away

3 Ds's teacher keeping him back today to tell me he is very clever and is one of only a few in his class who she wants to start reading a book at home (he is in reception)

4 Having a lovely tea of gammon in the slow cooker that EVERYONE ate and liked

5 Snuggled up under blanket knitting my scarf (knitted one for dd and using up all the wool for mine as I liked it so much) and catching up on Eastenders

I am really proud of ds. He is doing so well in school and his teachers cant priase him enough and now he is one of the first to start reading. How chuffed am I!!!!!!!!!!!

    5 for today:

    1) Helping out in smaller son's class all day, making puppets.

    2) Going to their parent evening and not hearing anything too untoward!

    3) Having a tea just to pop into the microwave (left over roast dinner from last night).

    4) Having a long chat on the phone with a friend just now.

    5) Going to have a bath now and read Good Housekeeping then go to bed and watch Holby City on the iplayer (very quietly as have just noticed smaller son is asleep in my bed!)
