Toonie - wtg on your bargain shopping trip
- but you don't have to let on to your OH hun - what they don't know doesn't hurt them
Ah, but he made me lunch and dinner and did the washing up whilst still looking amazed, so I think it worked quite well:rotfl:
1. Getting to drink a cup of tea in peace while OH is in bed!
2. Buying Christmas presents online-so handy with four nieces and two nephews, plus three boys and two girls I look after, to buy for!
3. Sorting out stash to make five birthday cards and one anniversary card (three nieces, my mum and my brother, plus my parents).
4. Saving the vegetable water from yesterdays dinner to make a simple soup for lunch.
5. Having roast pork (reduced to clear) with all the trimmings including apple sauce and plum crumble for pudding (fruit from my mums garden) for dinner later.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650 -

Evening everyone,
last few days been a bit manic, Teddy the lurcher ripped a toenail off racing round the garden, and had to go to the vets, about 15 miles away! the terrier dissapeared and i discovered he had jumped over a 5ft wall into next door probably after a cat,and couldn't jump back !Cue lady of certain age getting the stepladder to climb over said wall, tipping the little #*% back over and then scrambling back myself, the ladder still in my garden ,and i am only 5ft tall!!! so not very ladylike!
My 5 are...
# the pleasure i had from seeing the dogs greet their owners, and theirs at seeing their pets
# taking Ds2 and DDil an anniversary prezzie and dgd her 6th birthday present and catching up with them and the stepdgk's, it's lovely having this extended family
# making a veggie bake for tea, haven't had this for ages,
# the smell of the bread baking in the oven, comforting
# knowing i can have a lie in tomorrow as i don't have to let any 'guests' out for an early run!
have a peaceful night all

I love reading this thread so thought I would add my own.
1 - (yesterday) Had my very first kids party and everyone seemed to enjoy it which was really nice after I spent half term with the kids making decorations and Friday and Saturday morning cooking lots of scary food.
2 - Having a lie in this morning as kids worn out from party - yay!
3 - My sister buying lamb etc for roast dinner as long as I cooked it so free food!
4 - Cooking a low fat, low sugar malt/fruit type loaf cake thing that my kids and myself love whilst cooking the roast.
5 - Kids had a early night as school tomorrow so having a glass of wine with dh.0 -
We've been on a trip into mid-Wales this weekend. It's been about six months since we last spent a night away. Lots of pleasures and adventures (ten since it's two days!):
1. Bookshopping/browsing the secondhand shops in Hay on Saturday. The children went off together with some pocket money to search for their kind of books and left me to it in peace.
2. Very nice cheapish supper in a hotel bar last night watching all the guests, dressed in amazing halloween costumes, come in for a quick drink before going out on the town - this sort of thing is absolutely the opposite of my idea of a night out, but people had gone to so much trouble that it was great fun to see the costumes.
3. Don't want to be a killjoy but missing all the trick or treating at home was a pleasure for me.
4. In true halloween style, driving in the hazy moonlight (but given my name I suppose we ought to have been on broomsticks ), late last night through spectacular silhouetted scenery to where we were staying...
5. ...where there was a very kind manager who went out of her way to make us welcome and get me a cup of tea
6. Enough time after oversleeping this morning for the children to fill up on a big cooked breakfast while I went and had a much-needed, very long, hot shower.
7. Seeing one little tree all alone ontop of a very steep, bare hill. It had been so blown by the wind up there that all of its branches were tipped over in the same direction growing at right angles to its trunk. It looked so determined that it would never let go that it made us all laugh.
8. Spending today with a whole range of different friends catching up on news and sharing support.
9. The children dozed in the back of the car while I drove back home tonight in the dusk and even brighter moonlight through towns with mountains and castles and leafless trees all showing up against the sky. It was soooo lovely.
10. Treated myself to the Sunday paper so I'm about to go to bed to read it and do the sudokus.
Sweet dreams
