5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2
Options

-
1) Having a car. I know it's lazy but in this weather, I do appreciate it.
2) Going to Parents' Evening with DS to find out what subjects he would like to do next year and meeting one or two people I haven't seen since he was in Primary. I was able to guess which subjects he'd take and so I'm glad we're in agreement.
3) Coming home to a roast dinner - I'd popped a chicken, potatoes, carrots and onions in a roasting tray, put red cabbage in to braise in orange juice and baked some apples in another dish after that. I only needed to mix gravy.
4) Washing up with DD. The dishwasher is still out of action. The visit on Thursday will be our fourth, so we're getting a bit cross, but it is lovely just to chat at the end of the day.
5) Finished another hand-made Christmas decoration - fleece, blanket stitch and a few buttons.0 -
Lots of good happenings in people's lives today.:j An especially loud hooray for your milestone Caterina
My five pleasures for today:
1. Getting a large veggiebox delivery again - it's been months since the last one and, oh... the smell of the parsnips when I opened the boxIt'll be parsnip and apple soup for lunch tomorrow.
2. Getting lots of tidying and cleaning done. It's really starting to feel as if we are getting somewhere post-move and everyone helped lots today.
3. Discovering how good microfibre cloths are. I'm so impressed at how they work without the use of chemicals. I'd never tried using one before.
4. Cooking a really yummy celebratory meal this evening with enough left overs for soup stock and a main meal for supper tomorrow as well.
5. Getting a ton of shredding done ready for recycling. I love seeing paper clutter disappearing.
Sweet dreams

Morning all.
Caterina :T :T :j :j Hooray & well done!
My five for yesterday are:
1. The smell of Imperial Leather soap as I opened a new one in the bathroom. My Nana & my Mum always used this soap so it brings back memories
2. The children had all met up on the way home from college/school & walked in together singing, chatting & laughing. It was lovely.
3. Getting all the washing dry so I'm caught up again. It had all got a bit behind with not being able to peg anything out.
4. Gorgeous HM spicy lentil soup for lunch with plenty left over for today.
5. Half an hour with DS2 watching a dvd in his room last night. I'd gone up for a bath & popped my head round his door to see how he was so we had a chat & a catch up at the same time.
Have a good day everyone & I hope you find many pleasures in it.0 -
I post very sporadically on this thread but thought I ought to make more of an effort to appreciate my life as sometimes I can't see the wood for the trees.
Mine so far this week have been:
Despite whinging about going seeing my DS rush out of nursery with a big smile on his face and he's pleased to see meOh and he told me he "had fun" LOL!
Watching DS draw - it's come on so much and he loves to point out what he's drawn.
Looking at DD yesterday as she's toddling round the house. Can't believe how much she's grown in a year. This time last year she was a babe in arms still.
Cooking my cheese scones - they are sooooooo tasty.
Feeling everso naughty and sitting reading a book for a couple of hours whilst DS was at nursery and DD was sleeping. Felt terribly indulgent but gave my batteries a recharge
The change in seasons. OK it means it's colder which I really don't mind and I feel excited at gearing up for Christmas
I had a pleasant half hour looking at this website http://www.jacquielawson.com/ It's an e-card website and they are so beautiful (especially the Christmas ones). You have to be a member to send them but I just like to view them and get into the spirit of the seaonsI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Tuesday's pleasures:
Stripping the kitchen sofa and washing the covers for the first time in ages - inspired by the Flylady thread. One small step at a time!
Sitting down with DS1 to make a miniature bust of King Henry VIII, which took me back to my childhood.
Taking my boys into town for a very efficient, target-driven trip - with no overspend or arguing!
Making a tasty stir fry for DH and I with whoopsied ingredients and very cheap noodles.
Making a birthday cake in the shape of a cow's backside (udder and all) for Dad's big birthday. (He's a retired dairy farmer in case you were wondering!) It's not brilliant but I'm hoping he'll appreciate the time taken and originality. Besides, my lack of artistic genes is largely down to him.
Have a lovely day everyone.0 -
Morning to everyone, my 5 today are.
1. Thanks to Sunnygirl:A for her post about sorting out recipe files. So inspired i'm starting mine today.
2. Still having fun with that thriftlady all in one bread recipe. Determined not to buy shop bread, unless ys this month.
3. Working on budget for the year, i've been keeping all my receipts, adding up time has come. Month by month i know i have improved.:money:
4. Few phone calls to make to gossip to friends that have moved away, love the first week of the month getting all caught up.
5.Only me for tea tonight, having pork chop spread with english mustard and topped with brown sugar. Cooked until all yummy and brown, fat very well done. HM roast pots. straight from freezer and into remoska.
Have a great os day everyone, cuddles to all that need them.:wave:0 -
 good morning all - really good to be sitting here with silence - no sound of rain/wind - outside
.
nuttybabe - wtg to your dd :T - hope that progress continues for you all and well done you on almost reaching your 'target weight' - few more :j:j:j this coming week should see you there. And wtg to your ds on his schoolwork - reading is a wonderful milestone
.
Broomstick - that coat stand sounds like a great find - today's houses don't seem to have enough hidden storage for things like coats, shoes, bags etc. We have coat hooks facing the bottom of the stairs (by the builders), but it doesn't look good in an open-plan house - really need to move them to under the stairs, which are also open and then rig up something to screen-off under the stairs. Well done on your house-sorting.
bunny too - ermmm can I just query your No.4 pls - son driving himself to school - not going out today - is part two of that phrase because of part one. Hope he enjoyed your bread rolls
.
SunnyGirl - you'd be very welcome to drop by for tea. I think all dad's are like that - I know mine never 'talked' on the phone and he always assumed that any calls were for somebody else - in fact he would only answer the phone when he was the only person home . I can smell that Lentil Soup .
bails - sounds as though you're enjoying your time away. Only just read your avatar properly - well done you.
Haribo - having a good chuckle at visions of your dog in the woods with a giant branch catching on the trees as she runs past :rotfl:.
firstyear - :T to you and Mr First on your wedding and Cameron House for your honeymoon  - we pass it every year going on holiday and it looks fabulous.
Caterina - wtg on the Mortgage :T - but so sorry to hear your neighbour is being a nuisance. Hope that sorts itself out - bad feelings with neighbours is not good. How lovely that you actually had 2 meet-ups in the one day - lovely to catch up with old friends and reminisce about our 'more carefree days'.
grandmasam - well done on being 'skyped' by dgs- you've now got me wondering if your #5 is anything to do with the 'invitation' you posted about a couple of days ago
.
saffouri - :hello: and welcome to the thread - we have had some lovely 'moonrises' recently with the current full moon - last night's was particularly great here and I've watched it 'disappear' this morning as well.
ACEY - lol - sorry - thought you were heading 'out on the razz' as well;)! 'nothing untoward' was as much as I got to expect from my ds at parent evenings too  - unfortuately there was often 'very much untoward' to be said.
katieclampet - :hello: to you as well - well done you :j - dgd's come before boring housework (they do in this house too).
Patchwork - Well done you and DD for using 'sink time' for mum/daughter time chats - a real blessing out of a real inconvenience.
BitsyBeans - well done you on cutting the first apron string- it does hurt at first but the rewards, as we see them grow and become more independent, are great
. Won't be long before your dd goes too as ds goes into school
. Well done you on finding some 'me time' in your day. Thanks for that site :T- somebody once sent me a 'Chudleigh' card and I wondered where it had come from - they're brilliant.
I'll post mine a little later - need to be starting work at the moment.
love Ollie xxx0 -
I only need 1 today :j
1) Waking up without fear
Yesterday I went for 2nd stage breast cancer screening and although they found a lump, it is nothing to worry about and will be monitored regularly. Since getting the letter asking me to go for further tests, I have been in a state of total panic and felt that my life had just about ended.
NUDGE: Anyone putting off going for there screening, PLEASE make an appointment now. Don't put it off. As they said to me yesterday ... "that is the thing about regular screening ... it picks things up early".Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -

That is such good news Muppet
I have fibroedema's in my breast and whilst I am no more at risk of developing breast cancer than the next person it ALWAYS pays to check and follow up with screenings.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
