LxMortgage as at March 2010 £225,000 target for December 2012 £170,000. Blog link http://beautifulorpractical.blogspot.com/2010/07/oh-this-is-all-new.html :j0 -
Good morning  all - it's a 'bit nippy' here this morning and the radiator has 'kicked in' (timer set for 7-9am/7-10pm at 16C).
I've noticed that a few of us have been feeling a bit 'down' recently (maybe a time of the year thing or general life stresses) so a bigto all who needs one.
Kitchenbunny - well done on the Christmas Decoration making - I have a couple of embroidered ones that I made a few years ago. In fact I forgot to take them down last year so they've been on my firesurround all year - same as the Xmas Windchime in the downstairs loo window.
Haribo - specially for youand well done on the 'extra' for the Christmas Fund.
grandmasam - you deserved your long soak/glass of wine after cleaning floors on your hands/knees  - if I got down like that, I'd never get up again.
nuttybabe - well done on 'spreading the love' with some Twinks at the schoolgate.
SunnyGirl - Thanks for the kind wishes for DD - we had a real giggle last night over the 'nitty-norahing' :rotfl:. Good Luck with the digi-stuff for Mum and Dad - if you have to get somebody in, PLEASE make sure it's one of the recommended helplines and NOT just 'a guy out of the paper' - there's some right sharks out there!
ACEY - that happens to me all the time as well - makes you so , doesn't it. Well done to your ds on opening up a bit about school stuff - it must have made a real impression on him - bless. Hope you're feeling a bit better today.
mineallmine - found this today and your post made me think of it:.
Jevvers - I've noticed the odd butterfly still around too - had a bee around here on Tuesday afternoon as well - in November . Strange to see the seasons changing so much and so quickly.
Broomstick - another person with a tenancy check - glad yours went as well as my DD's :j.
Souk08 - well done on your HM meals - mmm sausage casserole .
Rummer - :T on all the paperwork - something I need to tackle too, but keep closing the office door on.
bails - can't wait to hear a bit more about 'the village of happiness' - hope it's all you expect.
bunny too - that lentil pate sounds good - something I may just 'have a go at'. Do you use red lentils? Now I understand about the car- I was thinking that you were deliberately staying indoors BECAUSE he was driving on the roads :rotfl:.
Louba - well done on the bargain train tickets :j AND the lunch treat.
Mine for last night:
1. Spicey Pumpkin Soup with crusty bread for evening meal.
2. Enjoying some mum/daughter time with DD and the dgk's again. Poor Katie (dgd2) - we really upset her. But RESULT - sorry to any Buddhists among us - 4 are no more ! Told DD to do another spraying in about a week to make doubly sure. She had been playing with DD's friend's little girl . Double checked dgd1, dgs1 AND DD while I was there as well. Got back home and did my own as a precaution .
3. Got a cuddle from dgs1 and he told me all about his new friend at school - seems to be enjoying his new school (for now at least).
4. Helped dgd1 with her geometry homework - can't believe it's all done 'on-line' with log-ins/passwords. Kids without access to a computer can stay behind in school and use the library computers before going home. When I think of the number of books I had to drag around with me for homework ........
5. DD has made great strides with bedtime routine. All 3 of them in bed, one after the other at half-hourly intervals with each having 30mins 'personal time' with her before going upstairs :T. Last week there was 'screaming hab-dabs' over bedtimes. Then she told me off for washing her dishes while she said goodnight to dgd1. Said she needs something to do AFTER they're all upstairs and that the dishes/kitchen are part of HER night-time routine. Omg - has some alien taken over my DD's body .
6. Tenants' Federation Meeting in work today. These are usually quite lively events (last one was about Crime/Anti-Social Behaviour) and last about three hours. All tenants are invited but only around 200-300 turn up (out of a total of 13,500 tenancies) to daytime meetings. Sometimes they're held in the evenings and we seem to get a totally different crowd of people at those, so a good mixture altogether. Best of all is a Freebie Lunch :j!
7. Have taken some diced turkey out of the freezer for tonight's meal. Will do a kind of 'stir-fry thigy' with mixed peppers, garlic, onions, mushrooms, spices and have with pasta and garlic bread.
I need to get off and start my day's work - oh hum! - hope everybody has a good day - speak again later - love Ollie xxx.0 -
Thanks Louba
Sadly I won't be going to the Village of Happiness Ollie as Tibet is very restricted - we're only allowed to go on the official Chinese 'tour' - but it's on my 'one day' list. Guess this can be the 'vilage of happiness' til then
Right, let's have a think:
1) I'm missing my OH today and am appreciating how much I love him and what a wonderful time we have together:heartpuls
2) a lovely long chat with my amazing dad about wedding plans, and my pets back home - he was even talking wedding dresses to me :smileyhea
3) coming in from outside and being struck by the cosy warmth of my room
4) being full on cheap, gorgeous food for most of the day - I'm definitely bringing this recipe home to help with my food budget
5) needing to put my comforting blanket coat on for the first time tonight to stop the chill in the air - I feel all snug and happy in it
Ollie, would you mind sharing the spicy pumpkin soup recipe please, sounds yum! There have been lots of delicious sounding foods on here actually :T
Have a great rest of the day peeps and see you tomorrow xThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Thanks all of you for your lovely thoughts yesterday. It made my day even better.
Today:
1) Spending and hour sweeping up leaves this morning whilst it was still dry, cool but nice.
2) Having a mug of coffee outside after sweeping said leaves.
3) Watching my 4 ex-battery hens enjoying a free range round the garden whilst I drank the coffee. Love those girls.
4) Once the rain started, coming in and making a lovley lunch using last nights leftover butternut squash and carrot casserole and adding a dumpling!
5) As it started to get dusk, lighting the wood burning stove and sitting in front of it with a coffee and my cat and the latest edition of the Home Farmer magazine and watching the rain pouring down outside.
PS Haribo .... pleased your little escapee returned yesterday. They do love to go of on adventures.Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
Louba I'm [STRIKE]obsessed[/STRIKE] very keen on the smell of fabric softener too. I've even been known to undo various ones in the supermarket just to smell them
My five for today are:
1. Getting my parents digibox sorted and doing the ironing for Mum while I was there. It was nice to have some time minus the kids to talk to them both & we always have a giggle.
2. Then coming home to do my ironing :rotfl: The pleasure is the feeling of it being done.
3. Spending half an hour chatting with DS1 whilst doing the above.
4. A lovely restorative cup of coffee this morning.
5. Being particularly thankful for our armed forces today after yesterday's horrible events in Afganistan. I bought an extra poppy this morning, not much I know but my small tribute.
Have a good evening everyone & take care xxx0 -
Louba Lentil pate came from the 50p a day thread by weezel:money:
150g red lentils *1. Cook for 20mins. until nice and soft.
3/4 pint veg stock
2 med. onion
3 cloves of garlic * 2. Fry until lovely and yummy
3teaspoons mixed herbs brown
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 slices bread crumbed
1 teaspoon salt * 3. Add and mix remaining ingredients.
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons white wine vinegar
I put in very small tubs. It freezes very well. I put a little mayo in son's sandwich along with the pate. He has to have mayo on everything.
Really cheap sandwich filling. Hope you enjoy it.
Ollie I made it with red lentils, tried to find the recipe again on the recipe page and failed. You being an old hand may have better luck than me.:A
Has reverbe not came back?0 -
I'm not just falling behind, I am loosing the thread completely, no time to catch up on the posts, I'm afraid. I still have my friend here recovering from her hand surgery, she has been here for 4 weeks now, so I've nearly forgotten what 'normal' feels like.
I will have to dig deep for today's pleasures:-
1. Managed to dry sheets on the line.
2. Winter Density lettuces emerging from the cold earth, I wonder if they'll make it.
3. A long talk to DD on telephone. She understands me.
4. Managed to make a card for my aunt who will soon be 90. Been working on this for 3 days now.
5. Can't think, except that finding time to type this is quite a coup.

Good Evening!
It has been another long yet productive day!
1. Completed a whole load of work tasks that I have been putting off for ages
2. Just eaten a nice bar of chocolate
3. Looking forward to my DH coming home for cuddles and chats
4. All the cats in the living room keeping me company (one on my shoulder!)
5. Just going to organise my DD birthday partyTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Hi all
Another long day on a very slow computer, luckily my employers have allowed me to get the services of the Geek Squad (a 24/7 IT support service that fix your computer remotely) and they identified that I have insufficient RAM memory. So I have bought it and as soon as it arrives my PC will KICK A**!!!! (I hope).
Here are mine for the day before I collapse in front of the tv with a bowl of soup in my hand:
1 - Early AM, another batch of sourdough bread kneaded and fermenting, ready to be made and baked tomorrow.
2 - Soya kefir went into a batch of soda scones, yummy.
3 - Dairy kefir and two of the scones went to my friend, who always gives me her treats and also uses the kefir to make her own soda bread.
4 - Geek Squad intervention (paid for by employer!) and subsequent purchase of 1GB of RAM memory, can't wait for this machine to start working properly again!
5 - DD and her BF are making dinner, bless them, I could not have done another thing tonight (long and challenging day, long story not worth sharing).
Love to all
Caterina xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hello, everyone!
1) Went to see my solicitor this morning. She's a force to be reckoned with and I got a lovely aerial view from her office of some vicars (I think) in a procession outside the cathedral!
2) Things went reasonably at the solicitors in that I have my 1st choice of barrister when I go to court, a fortnight today. Turns out my ex is moving again, and slightly further away so he may be less of a nuisance.... The whole court thing is a very long story.
3) Had a look round while I was in the city and had a cup of tea in the library cafe.
4) Had some lovely messages on Facebook from my new college friends asking if I am on the mend.
5) Went to mum and dad's who had a massive bonfire. Mum had made pumpkin soup then hot dogs then we sat by the fire for a couple of hours and the boys played happily and chatted a lot to mum and dad and my brother and sister.
6) Still not quite well so I am already in my dressing gown for yet another early night!
