Quick five for Friday. I'm really tired and need to get to bed!
1. Remembering to collect DS2's old violin from the menders (where it's been for the last two months and I'd forgotten we'd left it there!) and it's been properly fixed, at very low cost, so we can now sell it.
2. A very nice tomato, pesto and mozzerella panini for lunch.
3. DS2 had a prezzie of some chocolate fudge and wanted to share it with me.
4. Bit of catching up on iplayer with a big cup of tea.
5. Clean jamas and warm socks to go to bed in.
Sleep well everyone

Well, mine for today are:
1 Buying pizza whilst shopping as I knew dh would want takeaway pizza tonight so saved some money!!
2 Let the kids stay up late to watch a film as a treat and we all cuddled up together
3 Taking the car on the school run when it rained
4 Fixing my clothes horse all by myself so dont need to buy another one
5 Dh letting me choose the film to watch and agreeing to a romantic comedy (think its just guilt as he is out drinking tomorrow), the disc didnt actually work but the thought was there!!! :P0 -
Hope you have a nice weekend, Bella!
1) Coffee at a friend's house this morning. She's moving in two weeks' time (and is inexplicably calm about it). The other Musketeer and I have been finding and collecting boxes on Freecycle for her.
2) The other Musketeer (our three husbands used to work together in the good old days) has just found out that her husband is about to be made redundant at the end of December. However, they have no debts, other than the mortgage, and feel confident that all their insurances/redundancy will tide them over.
3) An embroidered hanky from the above friend. I'm the only person she knows who uses them.
4) Going Christmas shopping and feeling pleased with what I've bought. Usually, I'm so busy trying to keep to the budget that I'm not sure, in the end, that I've got it right. Then I add another present for everyone ...
5) Thanks to MSE, we managed to save money last month for the first time in years. (Did I say this before? I'm so pleased!)
6) Managing to cook a 'proper' tea (meatloaf, roasties and baby cabbages, with left over cakes for afters) instead of making something out of a tin.
7) Refreshing a wool jacket by washing and gently tumble drying it. I like it better now.
I think I need to stop. Have a lovely MSE weekend, everyone0 -
:wave good evening all - another typical November day
. Blessing is that the gardens/plants certainly don't need watering :j.
bunny too - Hope all went well for your ds with his music exam and :T to Mr and Mrs E for coming to the rescue over transport - what lovely people!
billy858 - Hope you enjoy the soup and good to hear that your dog is improving. My childhood soap memories were something called Lifebuoy which just left you smelling 'clean and well-scrubbed'.
hotcookie101 - well done on having the day off work and hope you both enjoyed your evening.
Louba - well done on the success of your work project and hope you enjoy your busy weekend.
honey - good to hear that things are much better for you now. Good Luck to your OH on the job front.
savingforoz - You and your size 6 jeans - oooooooh you've got me green with envy. I doubt if I was a size 6 at 'age 6' :rotfl:. Best of luck with getting your house ready for letting out.
mineallmine - I got a big box from Wilko's and sorted out a pile of goodies a couple of weeks ago - so that I could see what else was needed. Really helps to get things organised in your mind - I'd bought some goodies back in Jan and had forgotten they were there lol. Got an ExtraSpecial Christmas Pud for 50p (use by July 2010) plus 2 boxes of Paxo Celebration Stuffings.
Layla - Welcome and thanks for popping in - looking forward to you sharing your pleasures with us.
Reverbe - Welcome back ((((HUGS)))) - we've missed you and your posts. Can see you've been really busy on the whoopsies and freebies all this time.
Rummer - ((((BIG HUGS)))) for you too. Good luck with the kitchen - mine needs doing too, maybe we can motivate each other.
Jeevers - Well done on the baking session with your ds - bet he enjoyed eating them too.
SunnyGirl - Best of luck with the Nursing Home hunt - will you be able to view a few to make comparisons? Will your m-i-l be able to go and view as well before the final decision gets made?
ACEY - You've been a busy bee today - skip the ironing and go straight to the damson gin!
bella - Hope you and OH have a great weekend and make sure you get some rest.
Haribo - Well done on your lovely relaxing day.
BitsyBeans - :T on your busy day with children/budding astronauts. That cupcake recipe book with silicon cake moulds sounds like a bargain.
lol at the toddler strop - dgd2 (age2) tried to do one last week and we all walked away from her. She was not impressed at not having an audience :rotfl:.
Broomstick - Hope you get a good sale for your violin.
nuttybabe - good for you on the pizza - makes a big difference when you just put one in the oven AND it's hot! My favourite is Asda's Veggie Lover's Feast - had one tonight between us with a few oven chips .
Patchwork - Well done on the Christmas shopping within budget and on box hunting for your friend's move.
Mine for today are:
1. Finding out that the Handyman managed to sort out the digibox problems for my tenants.
2. Gas Engineer arrived to service my boiler. It was only done in April, but what the heck - at least I know that it's ready for the winter months.
3. HM Winter Veg and Lentil Soup with bread rolls for lunch.
4. Was really cold this afternoon. Checked the thermometer and it was 15deg in my living room. Did the over-ride on the c/h timer to warm the place up a bit.
5. Went out to deliver some leaflets about the Handyman Scheme for tenants. Only managed to do 13 properties and the rain came bouncing down - like stair-rods, it was. Good excuse to go back in again :rotfl:.
6. Whoopsied Deli pizza (£1.49) with oven chips for evening meal and a slice of Banana Loaf to follow .
7. Watching Emmerdale and Corrie from under my fleecey blanket on the sofa earlier.
8. A couple of very helpful pm's from a lovely os'er with information on ASD/ADHD that looks very promising indeed. Thank you Claire - most appreciated :A.
9. No child-minding planned for the weekend - so will head for my favourite charity shop in the morning for a relaxing cup of Fairtrade Coffee and a home-made scone. Got some stuff to take to them as well.
Hope everybody has a great night's sleep and a lovely weekend. Nitey nite - love Ollie xxx
ps - has anybody seen sparrer around recently?0 -
This is always such a lovely place to come, never fails to brighten my day. Thanks everyone x
For Friday:
1) sitting for ages watching the world go by the stupa and feeling my mood improve
2) being befriended by a cute stray with a nasty skin disease who just wanted some lovin' - I was happy to oblige
3) a nice chat with an old friend on FB
4) my book - I love reading
5) getting a reply saying my job application was 'excellent' and arranging an interview :j:j I am so happy about this last one as I have been out of work for 4 yearsThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Morning all,
1. A bright sunny morning here, crisp blue sky with a glimpse of the moon.
2. A cooked breakfast sizzling away as I type.
3. It's Saturday. A trip to the charity shops today to drop off some books.
4. A trip to the butchers to get a chicken (which has no added water and comes out of the oven the same size as it goes in!).
5. Maybe a trip to the bakers to get some cream cakes
Have a great day everyone.

Recent OS pleasures, as I've been a bit busy
1. The full moon covered with tatters of midnight blue cloud on the way home from work.
2. 2 squares of dark chocolate a day being good for you (yaaaaay!)
3. Seeing a squirrel really close up through a fence.
4. DH making me a cup of tea in a huge cup that said "morning gorgeous" on it
5. Planning more meals.
6. Not using thick black eyeliner anymore and getting back to neutral makeup and being complimented on it.
7. Colleagues banding together to try and find fund-raising ideas for Children in Need.
8. Eating more fruit has meant my skin is a bit clearer.
9. It being slightly dark as I leave work at 4pm. It reminds me how close Christmas is.
10. It being colder. I love the feel of the cold morning air, the crisp smell of autumn and me being toasty in my snuggly fleece.
Well, I'm off to buy some thermals todayA necessary evil, but knowing my luck if I buy them it'll be lovely and warm this winter
I've got to pick up some moisturiser and a few more Christmas presents, then I'll be done.
Have a good day everyone

Oooh, our Reverbe is back!!! Really pleased about that, so my pleasures are:
1. Reverbe is back! Lovely to hear from you again, don't ever leave us.
2. A guilty pleasure this - getting a text from the lady who was coming to see my foster cats, saying she wasn't coming. So I get to keep my foster babes for a while longer...yippee!
3. Delicious homemade veg chilli from the slow cooker yesterday.
4. Arranging a Japanese meal out with a friend next week.
5. Being able to help my lovely colleague who has just been made redundant, by talking with her and finding some software that she can use in her new business (she is going self employed as there are just no jobs going in our line of work). Wishing you good luck sweetie x
And belated congratulations to Caterina for being mortgage free - hearing that also counts as one of my pleasures!
Also well done to bails for the job interview - wishing you all the best x
Anyway, off to make hummus and spicy beanburgers now, hugs to everyone, hope you are all well xxxLife is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Thanks, Ollie and Patchwork DH and I are really enjoying having the house to ourselves and doing our own thing for a day or two. By the way, I use 'proper' hankies too, how OS is that?
Good to see Reverbe up and running again. Keep it up, girl.
The day is young but so far:-
1. A lie in.
2. A leisurely bath.
3. The sun is shining.
4. Been able to read some of these posts at last, although I doubt I'll ever be able to clear the 'backlog'.
5. Looking forward to a firework party at DD's tonight, only a family affair but the menu sounds good.
Carrot and coriander soup HM
Baked potatoes
Chicken drumstics
Hot dogs
HM toffee apples
HM Ginger cake
Well done to my exceedingly OS DD. I wish she would post on here but she only lurks.

Good Morning all  - what a beautiful morning we've got here today - makes you feel all smiley
!
bails - congrats on your job interview - is this back home or for where you are at the moment? Good Luck with it. What kind of stray have you befriended - dog, cat, goat
?
mineallmine - Wish we had THAT kind of butcher around here. One has recently opened and people are flocking to it, BUT I recognise his packaging and I just KNOW that everything (apart from his home-made sausages as you can see those being made) is from a local meat warehouse. It's 'ok quality' but not 'brilliant' IFKWIM - I'll stick with Asda for the time being - similar quality and a cheaper price
.
Kitchenbunny - awww at your squirrel - we had a red one coming outside our caravan on holiday last year- he (and the pine martens) kept pinching the fat balls that we were putting out for the birds! Good Luck to you and your colleagues with your Children in Need efforts :T.
savingforoz -on keeping your foster kitties for a little longer - looks like you're really attached to them now
. Hope your friends new venture works out well for her.
bella - :T to your DD on her choice of menu for this evening - hope the evening 'goes with a bang' (ouch! - just couldn't reisist the comment).
Mine for this morning:
1. Bit of an unaccustomed lie-in and felt all the better for it.
2. Call from a neighbour as her electrics had gone off. Not on-duty but what can you do- can't leave somebody without the where-with-all to make a morning brew! Ran out with my thick fleece jacket over nightie, checked the fuse box and found the Mains Switch had tripped. All sorted now, but it looks like her toaster could have been the problem. Left her putting the kettle on and making toast under the grill on the gas cooker :rotfl:.
3. Lovely letter from United Utilities (water supplier) REDUCING my DD payments :j:j - all down to having a water meter, showers, water butt for garden and small toilet cistern.
4. Porridge (made with water) with honey for breakfast . Lovely Rowse honey that was only £1.25 in B&M Bargains instead of £2+ in Asda. Must get some more for baking with.
5. Going to have a lovely shower in a minute as I'm still sitting here in my nightie. Then I'll have a quick tidy-up and go to the shopping centre late afternoon. Decided to leave Asda until around 5.00pm to satisfy my 'whoopsie cravings'.
6. Going to get the washing machine on in a couple of mins - drat it could have been done with the amount of time I've spent on this site this morning - not very time efficient of me today.
7. Must remember to unplug the house-phone and turn the mobile off BEFORE 'certain people' realise that I'm child-free today :rotfl:.
That's me done for now. Hope we all have a lovely mse/os day and a great Bonfire Evening for those with get-togethers this evening. Love Ollie xxx0
