Hi bunny- Quite a maze isn't it
. Have you had a read through this thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=783151 - it's one of the 'stickies' on old-style.
I think with most of the things, it's just a case of browse and try not to get lost. The entire site had me totally befuddled when I first joined :rotfl: - and could never find my way back again.
I think I even 'reported as abuse' when I really wanted to 'thank' on a couple of the threads when I first joined - but that's just between you and me- please don't tell anybody
:o.
love Ollie xxx - now I really must get off this darn comp and go shopping.0 -
Afternoon everyone. Mine for today are:
1 After having no electric all morning as trip switch kept tripping I have narrowed it down to the downstairs lights so have electric but no lights so have the opportunity to use my wind up lantern and the kids recharable torches and make it into a fun game for us all when it gets dark!!
2 a lovely sunny morning that kept my living room lovely and warm
3 Stocking up on squash and sugar on offer in netto this morning
4 Having a lovely bacon and egg sandwich for breakfast with really thick cut bacon from the butchers
5 think this one is for dh - getting a free ticket to watch the football in corporate box so free food and beer (at least I dont have to feed him today!!!)
Getting a bit dark now so must dash round and find any torches/night lights to brighten up the living room. Already have the solar powered light up garden knomes on that I never got round to putting in the garden!!!!0 -
Good evening all.
Ollie MIL doesn't want to see the home, she says if we like it then she will. It does seem fraught with danger to me as she can be a bit on the [STRIKE]stroppy[/STRIKE] stringent side when the mood takes her  but her daughter is adamantNot a lot I can say really. It was a lovely place though, with a really nice feeling to it. I've known one of the managers (an RGN nurse specialised in elderly care) for a couple of years as DD knows her & a friend of mine has a Mum there so I think it'll be ok. If it were my parents I'd want them to see it though
Bella Enjoy the weekend :A
My mind is blank now with anyone else who needs extra hugs etc at the moment so I'll send anyone who wants one a hug.
My five for today are:
1. Seeing the lovely nursing home whose ethos is 'We are working in your home, not you are living in our workplace' Lovely I thought.
2. My Mum has been down today and taken my wet washing home to tumble dry for me. She's an angel. I sent her home with some soup that I'd made, a portion of chilli for Dad (Mum doesn't like it) and a plant that needed intensive care
3. DS2 asking me if I was alive when the Berlin Wall fell :rotfl: After I'd finished laughing I told him that I'd been married a year when it happened and we had a nice chat about it all.
4. HM celery & potato soup with HM flatbread (recipe from the grocery challenge) for tea.
5. I bought some Arctic Roll for after tea as a special treat for DS3 as he loves it & I don't usually buy much ready made. I'm looking forward to it actually
I hope that everyone is having a good Saturday.0 -
Hello everyone, here are mine for the day-
1.Watching my lovely little dog hopping and skipping through the leaves in the sun this morning.
2.A friend popping in and having a chat.
3.2 lots of washing done and drying on rads and airer.
4.Having the fire on for a little while this afternoon, it is spending money but it's cheaper than the ch and I've had a lovely, snuggly afternoon!
5.'De-gunging' the shower plughole using my multi-purpose tool, the old toothbrush(!), and some soda crystals and boiling water.
6.Looking forward to a nice evening with half price sirloin, hm chips, some wilty mushrooms that will still cook up ok and the x-factor, lovely!
Hope everyone else has had a good day, Ali x.£2 savers club no.107 :j £36 so far.0 -

Bunny too - sorry, I forgot to reply to your question about my stuffed courgettes
. Apologies for the long reply. I'll come back to do my pleasures later but actually this will be number one on the list for today 'cos it was nice to remember the meals!
The filling was based on my standard Quorn mince recipe that I use for shepherd's pie and for bolognese sauce to have with pasta but I expect it could be adapted for use with soya mince as well.
I fry two or three onions in a generous slurp of olive oil, add the complete contents of a bag of Quorn mince (chilled or frozen doesn't matter) and fry that until it looks a bit brown (and completely defrosted if it was frozen). Tip in 2 tins of plum tomatoes and chop them up in the mixture and add two or three large diced carrots. I then cover it with just enough water to stop everything boiling dry in the pan and give it a good bubble through until the diced carrot is cooked and the sauce is reduced down. If I can, I use up veg in the mix as well things like leftover red pepper or mushrooms if I have them. It's a good mix for bulking out with more veg and extra tomatoes if you need to stretch things further.
A deep layer of this stuff with mash (spuds on their own or carrots/celeriac/parsnips mashed in with the potato) on top makes shep pie; the mince mix (with a good load of relevant herbs cooked in with it) spooned onto pasta with grated cheese on top makes bolognese; or, as I discovered the other day, if you pack a baking dish with courgette halves whose seeds have been scooped out, then fill the shells generously with the mix (to which the scooped out stuff was added when cooking) and cover with grated cheese. put a lid/foil on the dish and bake for 30 mins at 200F then remove the cover and grill until the cheese has browned, you have a veggie stuffed courgette meal. Two filled courgette halves was enough for me for the main bit of a hot meal (although my starving teenage sons wanted more) and the same amount was lovely cold in my packed lunch the next day.
