Evening all.
Kittikins - I'm really sorry to hear about your job.I'm sure a lovely shiny new one will be along for you soon, though.
Tealady - that's so sad about your friend's DD. I hope she gets better quickly.
Chicken - look after yourself!
1) A much-needed and long-overdue NSD. :money: I haven't been indulgent so much as careless - I keep realising after shopping that I've forgotten something crucial and having to go back the next day.
2) Hearing that my DPs' vet has agreed to go to their house so their cat can be PTS on Wednesday - it's very sad, but at least now she won't get stressed about a car journey on top of everything else. :T
3) £33 cashback from a website ordered, and a £28 cheque for a loyalty card received. :money:
4) Baked aubergines for dinner - I don't feel particularly hungry, but they smell so nice I think I'm going to be tempted.
5) I've got the rest of the closing ceremony to watch tonight, as I decided it finished too late to watch it all in one go last night.
Have a pleasant evening, all, and hugs to those who need them.Back after a very long break!0 -
Chicken, at the risk of finding to many positives, your OH is also around almost fate, when you are feeling poorly, hope the pain gets under control, I know what you mean about co codamol, Ive got some but it makes me “muzzy” – even more blonde, good luck with the MRI.
Kittikins:- Hugs, It’s always a shock even when there’s an inkling.
1. Another day closer to Friday,
2. An amazing thunder storm as I type
3. Getting home and finding DH has done most of the things I planned to..
4. Leftovers made into risotto for tea and vienetta for dessert.
5. The sound of heavy rain when we are inside.0 -
Hugs kittikins and to tealady's friend. Quick 5
1) lovely unexpected pressie in the post
2) free lunch
3) ok no such thing, it was at a seminar. very full and i had to sit on the floor. I managed to sit cross legged. My personal trainer stretching is working :-)
4) my 4th session with personal trainer. Core is aching, but survived
5) Watched the closing ceremony (hence late post) fabMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Chicken get well in OS-style, now
VJsmum welcome home holiday planner extraordinaire!
PK I'm envious, we haven't had any storms this year, they come within about 10 miles then we just get oppressive heat and a dribble of rain
1. Back to normal after a fantastic weekend, loved every second of it but my body says to slow down so have been very lazy today, just cleaned the windows and done the ironing
2. DGD home from her holiday in Alsace with her best friend who had to move there due to her fathers job, and who is staying for a fortnight. Said friends father paid for their flights with BA, he gets a discount as he works for the French equivalent of our BAA. Very OS
3. NSD, went a bit overboard at the weekend and have had to padlock my purse. Checked the food situation and is okay, and checked giant whiskey bottle, there's enough in there for a tank of petrol if I need one before the end of the month.
4. Took 3 carriers of glass jars to the bottle bank. The container was empty, it made a smashing noise, (literally!) when I emptied the bags. Very satisfying
5. A family of mum and two baby hedgehogs has moved in, taking over my, and both neighbour's, gardens. Frontlined the mogs and dog, then ordered more from an on line company at half what the local vets charge
Sleep tight0 -
1. Our chick is doing great! (baby chicken almost 2 weeks old)
2. We had a terrific nap this afternoon
3. It's too hot to eat so I got by with making two lots of sandwiches!
4. I walked the girls (our black Labs) up to fetch DS and they both behaved really well and people ooh'd and ahh'd at them waiting patiently outside the gym.
5. It's almost bedtime and we have made it through another week without running out of moneyhooray!
"There is no substitute for time."
Competition wins:
2013. Three bottles of oxygen! And a family ticket to intech science centre. 2011. The Lake District Cheese Co Cow and bunny pop up play tent, cheese voucher, beach ball and cuddly toy cow and bunny and a £20 ToysRus voucher!0 -
Here again, apologies for Olympic related absences, but as I don't watch TV normally, staring at the PC as well as the TV other than for work became a bit tiring. Loved every minute of the Olympics.
1. Slept in and rose without feeling guilty.
2. House to myself as son at GF's. Meant I could choose when to cook. Or not to cook...
3. Daughter and g'children round for unexpected visit. Woo-hoo!
4. Daughter helped with decluttering by taking some clothes and by tidying up.
5. For £2 each, grandchildren tackled the bindweed in the front border. It will come back but daughter has offered to dig it over.
6. Daughter told me her ironing board had broken, and I have one spare, tucked away in the office. (Don't ask). Isn't it nice when you can offer a solution to a problem so easily?
7. Had to ask daughter not to tidy up for me completely as my cleaner is coming tomorrow. I don't let the cleaner tidy the lounge most weeks as I'm usually working in it. However, daughter knows exactly where everything goes and I don't spend ages relocating stuff afterwards, so she tidies round as I work without fuss. Cleaner won't find much to do, I had better think of a few extra little tasks for her as it will cost me the same for her to do nothing as for 2 hours work.... Does that sound mean?Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
My OS Pleasures.
1) I got my Professional Catering Electric Fly Killer today courtesy of the Office, as the Manager came round, with the Delivery (much needed as living in clouds of flies and half the Insect Kingdom that is/was getting in everywhere). The flat is blissfully free of insects bar odd miscreant, I have had it on since 1pm so it will be on 24/7 unless otherwise.
2) I made Boiled gammon, carrots, riverford potatos, celery with bay leaves (always 3x), a few black peppercorns, 1 solitary clove!, onions, for tonights meal. The rest will go into sandwiches, tommorows lunch. I served it with homemade parsley sauce, flour butter mixture premixed by moi ready to go in when ready, milk, cream, added flour and butter mixture then wodge of parsley barely survived the freezer that is playing up.
3) I Plan to use leftovers for sandwiches, soup etc.
4) Walnut and Rye HM bread very satisfying. I proved it for a good 30+ as much as possible time which has paid off handsomely in nice springy loaf. Very filling. Eat one slice at a time.
5) Nice chat with manager which exposed a lot of vulnerabilties about me. Fear that I have !!!!ed up the ESA Appeal thing, fears of meaning well actions of sister advocating for me in it, she suggested I go to the Office for a Big Chat, must do it. I keep too much inside and don't get help I need bar some oustanding occasions here and elsewhere.
6) nice chat with neighbours!! the neighbour who apparently has got in in for me seemed to be quite nice after he approached me after I had a barney in the garden on the lines of basically the TRUTH; I've seen it got it and thought I got the T shirts mostly with this place throwing up more troubles, and adversities as if the Benefit system wasn't bad enough,(very depressing news on benefits and work and rightsnet ).
To the lady who has just been made redundant, you need to ENJOY life on benefits even though it is not the most desirable life you could ask for. Your enemies are the benefits bashers responsible for creating an environment where the Govt can rip into the disabled and take away their benefits. Get onto welfare rights sites like the above, get an welfare rights advisor and DON'T TRUST THE GOVT.
I have been unemployed fore 15 years, you get used to it.
Doesn't mean you are useless, there is lots of things you can do. So don't give up.xx#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Thanks for all the hugs and positivity chums, I'm feeling quite okay about it all at the moment, but have got to go into the office in a mo.
Anyway, yesterday's pleasures.....
1. My boss wielded the axe very sensitively and was his usual lovely self. We had a good chat about lots of things.
2. At least I was reasonably emotionally and practically prepared for what happened, I wasn't particularly surprised when it happened.
3. My parents and OH are being fab, coming up with all kinds of ideas, plans, strategies etc etc.
4. DD is being a cutie and I've explained what's happening and what one of the big plans might mean to us for the next year or so.
5. Started making my thoughts of a new career into more concrete ideas and plans. Watch this space!
6. Feeling boosted by a couple of lovely chums, we went over to a friend's last night, and ended up having a sleepover, lots of wine, yummy dinner and I had a rubbish sleep but feel better for having had company and DD had a great time with her little chums too.
Right, onwards and upwards, I'm in the office (and will be for probably another couple of months) and feeling reasonably perky!0 -

1 Do not complain. If your spouse goes and gets a new toy, such as a motor bike, you get all het up about it. So go away and get angry! Why squarrel over it. Just insist that a side car is bought as well.
That way you can remain together.I hvae nt snept th lst fw mntes writg ths post fr yu t cme alng hre nd agre wth m!

Good morning all !
Thanks - for all of your kind words x
tealady - ((hugs)) to your DD's friend and family .Soooo difficult the whole feeling in control when you are almost dangerously out of control in relation to food. Family and friends have to try and be supportive but its hard not to blame yourself, or not be suspicious and wonder if they are actually eating or hiding it /purging. No easy answers just a long painful process for the family as a "whole" I feel.
Mcculloch - nice to see you back from the podiumNo- let the cleaner clean I say
or send him/her around to VJsmums house to give her DH a tutorial :rotfl:
PK - thank you !I am not a very patient errr patient and he is starting to wind me up.. My OH needs a rocket up his backside in order to join up the dots sometimes, such as the washing in the machine has finished so it needs to be taken OUT of the machine and hung on the line...empty loo rolls need replacing for the next person etc . Sorry I am such a b**ch ! He is used to it though ... and he knows where the front door is!
Dundee - or should I call you Bendy Wendy :rotfl:sounds like you are going for Rio 2016 then ?? Glad you are enjoying it x
5 for yesterday
1. My cousin came round and she works in my team and took my g.p's note in .
2.OH was here and was able to prevent the hens from tearing apart a young gull who had landed in the garden and put it on the shed roof .It was fine but OH got dive bombed by loads of seagulls.
3.Scampi for tea- nice and simple
4. Co Codamol has taken the edge off of the pain.
5. Slept like a baby .
Have a good day all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0
