5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Evening all.
My DP's puddy tat was PTS today. It was the only thing to do once her quality of life started to go, but it's very sad to say goodbye to a cat who's been around since before I did my GCSEs. (Yep, she had a good long life!
)
1) My current favourite breakfast of toasted HM seed bread with butter and honey - not exactly the healthiest start to the day, but so good.
2) I was chatting to a colleague today about redundancy (she suspects her job will go soon, and I think mine may well disappear within a year or so, too), and I realised that I actually want to stay and see the effects of all the changes I've helped make, even if the end result is that my job will stop existing. I guess the pleasure is that I have a job at the moment, and I want to stay in it until it goes.
3) Very naughtily treated myself to a posh smoked salmon sandwich for lunch - it cost a small fortune, as RM sandwiches tend to, but it was utterly delicious, and shouldn't be too hard to recreate if I fancy another one at a more reasonable price. :money:
4) Cuddles with mog when I got home. It's good to be reminded how much I enjoy having him around, even while nursing the feline toothmarks with which he registered his displeaure at me going out last night.
5) Easy, cheap dinner tonight - 'free' Qu0rn curry, RTC green beans and BOGOF rice. The curry was a 'try me free' offer - if I send them a brief review, they'll send me my money back, which suits me as I enjoy doing product reviews.
mhags - I'm sorry to hear about your OH - I hope things improve rapidly now. I hope you get something sorted out for your poor DD, too.
giddynici - I'm glad you're feeling better and enjoying your food again.
Chicken - I hope you're feeling better today.Back after a very long break!0 -
Good evening all !
CCP- sorry to hear about the family catbut nice to know that you were able to see her when you visit your DP's recently .
mhagster- sorry to hear about your DH's appointment .
Frith- if my memory serves me correctly didn't you have that chimney re built within the last couple of years ?? I am thinking guarantee ??
Kittikins - thinking of you x
5 for today
1. OH let the hens out so I could sleep in, which is lucky as I didn't hear the alarm anyway.
2. Back just sore now and not in spasm, which is good
3. Downloaded 50 shades of grey on my Kindle, ipad and Mums Kindle all for £3.02 (birthday voucher ) Was most surprised that my Mum in her mid 70's new far more about "50 shades" than I did!." I have heard all about it " she said :rotfl:
4. Finished one of the free Kindle books today .
5. Found a free posh moisturiser sample that I have had for years . It feels really nice on my skin which is unusually spotty at the moment.
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Mhagster - so sorry re your OH's hospital visit. Hope things improve for you all soon
Chicken - glad your back is improving. You'll be shaking that tail feather again in no time.
CCP - I'm not an animal person as such - but sorry you are sad. At least puss had a good long innings and, as Millie said, better sooner than later. (Millie, come back - you are missed)
Kittikins - sounds like you have a plan?
1. Well, the news is out and we enter a period of uncertainty re OH's job. Still, it was always going to be uncertain whatever the outcome. The pleasure is that OH is remarkably ok about it.
2. Journey into Brum with DD, listening to "cabin pressure", love it!! - she was armed with £150 as she needs loads of stuff for her new school. We got a considerable amount of change! <<insert fainting smilie>>
3. Curtains in student house we let, just in need of a good wash and not replacing.
4. 2 glasses red wine with tea. The quality of the tea didn't match the quality of the wine, but c'est la vie
5. Going to watch Olympics opening ceremony whilst doing a sewing project that needs finishing.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Chickenopolis;- Thank you for the kind words.. I hope the soreness in your back eases with the painkillers now the spasms are at bay.
1.Finished reading my book in a park at lunch. Onto the next book on the commute in tomorrow.:) Very very tempted by a kindle.
2.Went straight from stn to Mr A and it was a fantastic bargain find as always
3.From RTC hawl they had their cheap burgers reduced to 10p, I wasn’t holding out much hope but they were not bad, even better at that price.:money:
4.May be a weird pleasure but dosed up a bit today with anitibotics and painkillers and it took the edge off.:o
5.Feeling strangely contented, despite work and everything, the mortgage went out, and some arrears of an old water bill went out, while we aren’t left with too much, I look around at our stocked stash of things and feel grateful.:o0 -
Kittikins just to send you best wishes and remind you of two things, which I am sure you already know: the first is that when a door closes, so many other doors open. The second is: you are a strong and seasoned OSer, you will cope just fine for as long as it takes to get you back on your feet. (((HUGS)))
CCP very sorry about your poor cat. Very sad event.
Mine for today:
Lovely Zumba class
Lovely lunch at my friend's
Did my friend's accounts so I got a bit of cash of my own
Nice restful couple of hours after being dropped home by my friend
No need to cook tonight as we had a family meal out, invited by DH's cousin.
NSD except for 51p worth of texts (not included in tariff as they are abroad) sent to family members to wish them a happy Mid-August (Ferragosto, for the Italophiles among you)
Good night xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
McHagster I was just reading the posts on here and catching up and yours really are inspiration in finding the pleasures - (Big virtual hugs) I can do virtual hugs as I'm not a touchy feely person in real life.:rotfl:0

Mchagster scottish hugs across the waves
Ccp sorry to hear about the cat. A friend of mine had to have one of hers pts today
chicken wow burlesque. Had thought of belly dancing but burlesque now down as distinct possibility
1) walked to hospital where i was observing 40 4th year medics present on a topic of their choice. Was making good progress till took 'short' cut through hospital. It's a rabbit warren!
2) morning's presentations included how to make a victoria sandwich, a chocolate cake and raspberry muffins, all with samples...
3) afternoon's presentations good though no free cake (probs just as well!) then given terry's chocolate orange by organiser as thank you. I know it's sort of my job but still nice to be thanked
4) bus to gym where i survived despite a belly full of cake :P
5) bible study with a pint of cider. Aids prayer lolMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

(((Mhags))) am thinking of you all and praying for an improvement next visit.
Chicken pleased your back feels a little easier today
CCP so sorry to hear your DP's mog has gone to the Rainbow Bridge
(((Hugs))) to everyone who needs, such a lot of redundancy news which is a sad repeat of the 70's, 80's and 90's. I feel deeply for you having lived through all the above and had close family experience too much of the same. You're sounding strong, hope the new doors open very soon
1. No gym as DD has a possible stress fracture in her foot, which is a regular occurence. She, DGD2 and her friend and I went to Bedford to buy her some special trainers, then had brunch at a very reasonable street cafe. Thought of TILAMS and gave away a smile to a lady at the next table but it went down like a lead balloon - perhaps someone kicked her cat this morning. Very humid, it was quite nice when it started to drizzle - luckily we'd finished eating by then.
2. Went into a £ shop, spent £11 and can't believe how much cleaning stuff etc I got. I almost wish there was one closer but think it would be too much temptation so perhaps just as well there isn't. Gave away a smile to a lady in the queue, then had to listen to her telling me all about her bus journey to town  Perhaps I was the only person she had to speak to today. (Decided to draw a line under the smiling for one day in case someone noticed this strange little woman grinning at everyone, and called the authorities :rotfl:)
3. A good downpour this afternoon which saved me watering, so helped my water bill
4. Got the gas and elec bills, the company owes me a combined total of £90. A big relief as it's been an expensive couple of weeks, so I'll request a refund tomorrow
5. Decluttering, now have almost a full bag of clothes/shoes for the local charity shop, and have put by a few more bits for DD's forthcoming boot sale. Trying to do a little every day, even if just one or two items it's clearing the house, and my head!
Sleep tight0 -
Sure they'll give you and Jenny a clean bill of health TLAMS, hope for the doctor's sake, he sees you before lunchtime though....I went to Bedford to buy her some special trainers, then had brunch at a very reasonable street cafe. Thought of TILAMS and gave away a smile to a lady at the next table but it went down like a lead balloon - perhaps someone kicked her cat this morning. Very humid, it was quite nice when it started to drizzle - luckily we'd finished eating by then.
5 Could has had lunch with Sparrer Legs, just do not tell Ms Sonny!
4 Long day there and back, but Ms Sonny finally realises that the ticker did not have a heart attack, just that the booming boday parts are past it. Still got lead in the pencil though! Note to youngster, I know lead is banned, but I am from the old school yard.
3 Uggs and Jenny bits :heartpuls to those that need them, especially overseas and as for DD and her weekly challenges, apparantly, there is a lot of zip wiring at the moment.
2 Cannot listen to radio today, as it seems to be silent. Just then, I realise that I had not switched the thing on.
1 If we change our systems, that would open the flood doors? We have to remove from this the self opinionated views of one, against others. Only 5 weeks ago I sat waiting for Ms Sonny, due at 4 in Hospital, only for a selfish individual with no thought on others to walk into Sapperton and not go home. Today we must not allow the flood gates of the terminator to come to reality.
Sorry, but had to be harsh, it seems sometimes that we think we are just in our way. Think instead of the mother bird, and the young one who cannot fend for them self. Does she toss them out of the nest? She does not before they are ready to fly.I hvae nt snept th lst fw mntes writg ths post fr yu t cme alng hre nd agre wth m!
Cheers! :beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:0 -
Thursday evening....surely that's almost the weekend?
1.Slept very well and just woke up 10 minutes before my alarm went off....not been sleeping well, so nice to have a decent sleep.
2.Work was okay! 1 more day of the week to go.
3.We are landlords as of today, rent will not cover (anywhere near!) our mortgage but more importantly we don't need to heat an empty house for the 3rd winter and we don't have to pay full council tax on a Band E property for absolutely no benefit to us. It also means we still have property if we have to return to UK (not in immediate plans) at anytime.
4.Bought my mum some flowers, (which will be her pleasure!) as she has checked the house every week for us. I had a 10% discount code and also had points to redeem as cash, so a bargain!
5.A letter from my letter writing friend with a lovely drawing done by her granddaughter for me.
6. (this one is just fabulous!) 2 glossy mags from UK. My friends in Sydney were home in UK for 2 weeks , and posted these for me & an olympic teatowel too. So I have been flicking through my new mags and feeling very pleased with myself! I do miss my magazines!
I should probably iron but can't really be bothered so think I'll just flick through mags instead! Ironing will still be there tomorrow!
Thanks for the good wishes for OH too, it does mean such a lot0
