    Evening all.

    1) My half-hearted attempts at losing weight finally seem to be taking effect, as I've lost a pound this week. :j

    2) Popped up to the shops to get the kidney beans I needed for this evening's dinner (as I used my last can in the curry last night without thinking through the consequences ), and arrived just as the shop staff were going on a yellow sticky offensive. I picked up a big punnet of grapes for 57p, a big bag of French beans for 45p, and a couple of types of cheese (including a garlic roule, which I haven't had in ages ) for half price. :money:

    3) Mog finally deciding to be a big brave cat and defend his home, chasing off an intruding cat (my little calico friend, who's starting to become a bit of a nuisance) who I was unsuccessfully chasing around the house after she wandered in through the open patio doors. :o

    4) Making a fuss of calico cat and her tabby friend / housemate (I'm guessing, working on the basis that they have identical collars and name tags) at the front of the house - I'm hoping that doing so out there will persuade them it's not worth trying to break in at the back. :undecided

    5) Harvested my first ever HG garlic. :j The bulbs are a bit pathetic - only two or three cloves on one, and no more than five or six on the other - but I grew them from a bulb that started going rotten before I could eat it and which I would otherwise have had to throw away, so it's still food from nothing. :)

    6) My first HG tomato of the year is starting to change colour. :j

    7) Making the most of the last day of the Olympics and watching sports I'd never usually watch - modern pentathlon today, which is great fun although I feel a bit sorry for the horses as they must end up with very bruised mouths from inexpert riders yanking on the reins. :(

    8) Preparing to watch the closing ceremony tonight with a glass or two of apple wobbleade. Then it's all over  - at least until the Paralympics starts. :D

    Have a lovely evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Here are mine:

    1. Lovely weather again!

    2. Completed the No-Spend-Weekend with DH as planned, did not feel deprived at all, nor did he, we had a great time!

    3. DH did not really want to go to the free concert at the Italian Institute, which is great because I could also not be bothered after all the hard work at the allotment!

    4. Amazing progress made at the allotment, lots of weeding done and seeds planted.

    5. About to cook steamed salmon and steamed veg, all in for simplicity, then crash on sofa to watch a (free) DVD.

    6. But before cooking, a nice hot shower to remove all the grime collected working the land.

    Good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

TILAMS - I hope you had a good time at the football - I didn't see the match but, from the look of the final score, it must have been a great one to watch.

TILAMS I watched the match - of course - and wasn't it just amazing?! Anyone who was just making a cuppa at the start will have missed that first goal, couldn't believe it! The last one was a surprise too, so well done to both teams.

At times like this, I wish I could change my name to the King of the Foes, Nora!

Words cannot describe yesterday, just being there says it all. I, wait for it ladies, I went for a Brazillian, spotted some Tiger (Everards, wobbleade, aka pu55y!) and ended up eating a Mexican Chilli. Had not got sat down at Kick Off when ...

3 Worthwhile going with the neighbour, it was so GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. Into Paddington, Tube to Wembley Central, Into Wetherspoons. Couple of tasters of decent Pu55y.:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:. Into ground. What can I say. Just think that if Oscars header had gone in, those, why do they do it, left early, would be kicking! Left after the medals, back to tube, back to Paddington and home, via Swindl!e Town

TILAMS Sounds like the experience of a lifetime, which in fact it was. Pleased you had such a good day
CCP congratulations on your loss :D
OT your #2 reminds me of DD and DS's earlier riding days :)
Mhags so pleased to hear your house is let, which will give you some much needed breathing space :)
    giddynici discount is good!
CCP/Kittikins do persevere looking for a dentist who understands phobia. No receptionist/dental nurse/dentist worth their title would speak to a prospective patient like that . I didn't go for 25+ years and knew I was in big trouble with my teeth, I phoned some and found a very understanding person who didn't even sit me in the chair until my second visit, and didn't do any work until my fourth. I admit to being very sick those first two visits :o. I had an enormous amount of work to be done and kept going because she made it easier each time, now I regularly (but even now with just a little trepidation) go for check-ups. You don't have to go to the first one with a vacancy, you're the one paying their wages so just be sure you're 100% happy with whoever you choose before you part with your pennies. Good luck :)

    1. Up early to go to a football match - maybe not as grand as the final but great fun nonetheless. DD's Sunday League pub team played another village pub team and won 6-1. Or was it 7-1? Everyone was having such a good time we lost count!

    2. DS referee'd, said he needed a translator as one of our players has a broad Scots accent and we weren't sure if he was calling for the ball, or swearing at the opposition ;)

    3. The other team's pub put on a super spread for everyone, very generously let 'our' team go to the buffet first, even though we beat them. Certainly didn't need to make any lunch after that! I did enjoy myself, I'll definitely go to more matches, on sunny days of course

    4. Sadly DS had to go back oop norf straight afterwards but he's phoned to say he had a safe journey and enjoyed his weekend :)

    5. Back home and I was at a loose end so sorted out the big pile of video's (remember those?) and wrote new labels for them, then stripped DS's bed, did the laundry and mowed the lawn. Now ready to watch the closing ceremony - whatever will we do for the next two weeks?! Housework, I suppose. Ugghhh

Enjoy the closing ceremony, night night :)

Have had 1.5 hours sleep in the last 2 days so may make even less sense than normal

Chicken - sorry your back continues to give you gip
    TILAMS - glad you're a buzzin
CCP - a pounds a pound - and in the right direction
SParrer - My DS footie matches aren't like that. You are lucky if you can pay a pound for a cuppa

SO for the last couple of days

    1. Last brekkie outside in soaring heat
    2. A very frantic last hour as the traffic meant we were in danger of missing our flight. Luckily we made it.
    3. Uneventful flight - as they should be
    4. OH was at airport to meet us - and I didn't cry. Told him I was hurt he hadn't come. He said he understood that and missed us so much he wished he had
    5. House is amazing - well the garden, front and back is transformed. Haven't inspected the sewers yet, Chicken :rotfl:
    6. Went to bed for an hour or two this morning, but actually got some stuff done that is getting urgent this afternoon. Watching closing ceremony now - hope to god they don't wheel McCartney out again.

I don't get Stomp. What's that all about?
I wanna be in the room where it happens
