Dundee and KB - I will get the ice bucket and glasses and KB you can bring the err.....strawberries:)
PK - what a coincidence I said to OH yesterday that I like the architecture in the City , but can't deal with the pressing of flesh on public transport . You have to be careful where you put your hands when stood up on the tube :rotfl:and so many people have body odour or flatulence ! Glad I only have a 3 mile care journey to get to the salt mine !
Skint - we have one of those "magic" sofas that also doubles as a wardrobe as does the exercise bike
Have a good day all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Some for yesterday, if I can remember. (NB reading back it has turned into a bit of a rant, sorry!)
1) When I went to bigger son's high school open evening on Tuesday, we were told all uniform has to come from M and S and were even given the code numbers so all the trousers etc would be identical. So I spent some time on the phone yesterday saying I couldn't afford M and S prices (which is true) and had already been given a lot of the uniform second hand. The new policy from September is this weird, matching thing. I pointed out is is impossible for a lot of people and unethical. In the end, they said I should go to M and S, look at the styles they want, but could then get it from Sainsburys/wherever. I should think so! Pah!
2) Wrote to the MP about bigger son not being entitled to a bus pass because we live too far from his new school. Despite being in the catchment area. Had a reply from his secretary that he will look into it over the next few days.
3) Re-potted the enormous plant that lives on my bedroom windowsill.
4) Kitten proofed the garden gate.
5) Played with kittens.
6) Watched the man from Autoglass change my windscreen.
7) Cooked a nice piece of gammon for tea and have some left to make into a pasta bake.
8) Had a stupid, stupid letter about my sons exclusion (can you tell I had a day of stupid people??) saying he is not allowed out in public for 5 days. So I had to get my brother in to look after him while I picked up bigger son from school. So got onto the phone to the demon headmistress and said this is absolutely unworkable as I can't expect someone to watch him every time I drop off/pick up bigger son for the next few days (school is in the next village, 4 miles away). So she agreed and smaller son is allowed out for that. How thoughtless people are!
9) Then his teacher was supposed to set 5 days of work. I received a massive folder with basically all the work he has missed in the last 6 and a half weeks. If _I_ sat down now and worked til Tuesday, I don't think I could do it all and smaller son certainly couldn't. So that annoyed me. And all the maths hand outs she must have just wanged in the photocopier as half the work is missed off the edges. BUT.... smaller son read one of the guided reading bits and did a page of maths, which is a start.
10) Enjoyed watching the Murray match.
11) Emails from OH.
That's about it! Going to do some work with smaller son when Top Gear is finished. :-/0 -
Morning
Frith - Hugs to you. I had the same issue with DD's school uniform in that it could only be bought from one very expensive shop. Needless to say I had a few runins with the head. He did conseed on some bits but not others:mad:
Purple Kitten - The one good thing about doing a moonwalk is you get to see London at its best but walking 26.2 miles through the night in your bra is a bit of an extreme way to see London when its not crowded.
Pleasures for yesterday,
1. DD put the washing out for me and put some more in the machine
2. She had also cleared the draining board and done the last couple of bits of ironing
3. Lunch with friends to celebrate H engagement. She looks so happy it is so nice to see.
4. Good chat with mum on the phone. She is sounding a bit down but not as bad as I expected her to be but will need to keep a close watch on her over the next couple of weeks as it is the anniversary of us losing my DB at the end of the week.
5. Sorting out some more bits for holiday just need to get our Euros and should be all ready to go :j

Happy Birthday oldtractor! - Hope you're having a lovely day
Here's some pleasures for my day:
1. Had a lovely impromptu air show this afternoon, as the Vulcan did some aerobatics in the skies above the office. I was able to watch it bank and glide, and dip down as though preparing to land but coming back up again above the trees. It was absolutely beautiful, and most of the office had a good look at it.
2. Got a few more MPG out of the car this time. I'm getting to like hypermiling
3. While I am having difficulty sticking to the grocery challenge this month, the things I bought ARE store cupboard ones and WILL get used at some point. Just got to get out of the habit of going for something to do.
4. A nice easy tea tonight of Black Bean Chicken with Noodles.
5. There's a light breeze wafting through now.
Ugh, what a day. Got home and collected the black bin (general refuse) and noticed a bit of a smell. Opened it and saw that a carton of milk had gone off and been put in the bin. Unfortunately, the bag it was in has obviously split as there was a kind of primordial cheese at the bottom of the wheelie bin. Cue much scrubbing from me, sloshing it with water and wheeling and sloshing, wheeling and sloshing. It's drying at the moment, but half-crawling into a cheesy wheelie bin is not my idea of a good time. Ugh. Am seeing the funny side of it. I must've looked a sight!
Have a lovely evening, all. Sending positive vibes.

5 for today
1. Last day at work until Monday !
2. My courgettes are blooming marvellous this year - must be all the rain !
3. My aunt came over to visit my Mum and I took broody hen over to see her, who shares the same name as my aunt. She was "bok bokking" whilst being stroked and being fed a digestive biscuit in my Mums kitchen (the hen that is) .
4.Looking forward to picking courgettes and sorting out garden over the next few days.
5.Fed OH "fridge" scraps for tea last night and he loved it, plotting what debris to feed him with tonight :rotfl:
Have a good evening all!:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0
