Yes, we've had a chat to some ladies from the cat rescue place when they were collecting at our local supermarket, and they said that they often get elderly gent kitties in who are happy to stay in the back garden, so we may get lucky. I would far rather have a cat than a guinea pig tbh....0
-
:
guinea pig?
hamster?
gerbil?
I've owned all three at various times and I would definitely say guinea pigs, every time. Much as I loved some of the hamsters and gerbils we had. Particularly beautiful Biscuit the hamster and lovely Wilfred the gerbil.
Two g. piggy females together from the same litter is ideal, but if you have a solo g. pig, be prepared to give him/her a lot of attention as they are social creatures.
I've heard of a novel method of providing bedding for them - putting them on the washable absorbent mats used as bed /chair protectors for incontinence. G. pigs MUST have hay and they MUST have fresh food containing Vitamin C to thrive.
They are long-lived, clean, friendly, intelligent creatures that make truly lovely pets.
I would put my dear Maxie Guinea Pig aka Maxie Meerschweinchen (German for guinea pig) as one of the best animals I ever owned, she knew her name, was housetrained, wonderfully affectionate and absolutely bomb-proof.
I have a nice memory of a little boy called Peter giving her a cuddle in our flat in Germany. He grew up to become Pete Doherty.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Afternoon, have actually got some pleasures to post! Small ones, mind, but every small positive step has to help, right? So, here goes:
1. The Lancaster flew about 100ft above the office on the way back from London. The roof rattled a bit, but it was the most amazing sight. Truly incredible.
2. Have lost another 2lbs. Slightly worried it'll all come back on again, but there you go.
3. Found a bargain gammon joint on RTC.
4. Mum gave me 5 chillies, an orange pepper and a few cloves of garlic last night, so I'll be making some chilli & garlic paste to go in the freezer. Might make a sweet chilli marinade from it. Hmm...
5. My feet are warm, for once.
Looking forward to tea tonight. Toad in the Hole - comfort food - and if pudding is called for, then there's a tiny bit of mint choc chop ice cream.
Have a good one.

Hi all, thanks for all the positive vibes
KB glad you managed to find some positives (((hugs)))
My 5 for today
1. CV and covering letter finished, printed and posted
Took ages to get stupid printer to print straight but after about 6 attempts looked pretty good double sided. Am not going to expect a reply let alone an interview, so will not be disappointed at first attempt, was just a big step to even post an application
2. Leftovers for lunch
3. Walk to local pond to drop off empties at bottle bank. Lovely sunny day but v humid
4. Lovely chat with DM on phone
5. Stopped for a chat with lady in card shop. Popped in for a birthday card for my nephew age 6 next week, and was moaning about the state of my car with the bad weather. It turns out that theres a dust cloud from the sahara over us and its coming down with the rain (we had a downpour about 8am) so that explains why everyones car looks as bad as mine. Hope it moves on soon and we get some proper rain to wash the dust off my car ..... I dont do car washing0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Just a number 55,573
Was Great Uncle Wilf, or that who we thought he was. Lovelly chap. Actually he was grannies little sisters (profanity filter is not needed), it said B45t4rd SON son. That is what he had on his record card at school, not that it mattered to him being bought up by his gran. He always wanted to fly, from a boy, that is all he ever wanted to do. He joined the Royal Air Force as a boy entrant in 1942 aged 17, wanting to fly. He had to endure two trips after the war. One to Cologne and the other to Hiroshima. The first he though such devastion, but building were still standing. In Japan
The same year, one of his nephews was reduced to the ranks, LAC and kicked out, after doing 27 missions. Wilf then started his flying training in Lincolns.
At last they have a memorial, but we should not forget the sacrifice. I continued in Wilf's footsteps, in No1 Group RAF (Bomber Command) on Vulcans in 1981-84.
Wilf is not here today to see the memorial.

5 for today
1. Last day at work until Monday .
2. Got my payslip which reminds me why I am there !
3. I am fascinated by half of a dead frog that is in one of my drains .Its just a pair of legs and a bit of body , I have no idea how it got into in a covered sort of gully we have and how it became half of the frog that it once was . Each time I go out in the garden I just have to look at it . Must be something about frogs , I was repairing a Concept 2 rower in the gym I used to work in years ago and I found a sort of air dried frog in the fly wheel of the rower . It had its arm up and was hanging on to the fly wheel and dried in that position- bizarre really.:o Kittikins how about a tree frog??
4. Stir fry for tea.
5. Might partake in a cheeky glass of vino as no work tomorrow
Have a good evening all!
eta - tilams - we might not be here if it wasn't for them , we must never forget them:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

Thanks for that - I was wondering why my car looked like it had spent the night on the beach!
1) Another long lie-in this morning - I think the excess sleep is related to my bad foot, and I need more sleep to help it heal. Well, maybe!
2) Spent the day pootling around the garden planting things, including...
3)... a dahlia bulb (or corm, or tuber, or whatever they are) which I thought had rotted but is throwing out a shoot.
4) Went back to my GP as my foot isn't completely healed after a week of antibiotics, and he gave me an additional week's worth which the last doctor should have prescribed and didn't.
5) Despite a looong wait at the surgery I managed to see most of the Jamie Ward match at Wimbledon - what a fight that was! :T
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
