My early Friday five aren't nearly as nice as yours JackieO. I really miss the distinct lack of family nearby at the mo' but . .

No work till next Thursday (yay!):j
Washing done but it's just starting to rain so that won't go out yet
Loads of good books to read over the weekend
My newfangled phone arrived - now all I need is a 12 year old to show me how to use it (scratches head)
Lie in then leisurely breadfast of h/m fresh rolls and real coffee as a treat
My 6th of 5 is the best - the roses are out and looking wonderful. One in particular was a fave of my late DM so always reminds me very much of her at this time of year.
    Happy Friday to all

Hello , bedtime for a tired me!

1.Woken by alarm clock again which meant another full nights sleep....I'm either (slightly!) more relaxed or utterly exhausted or a combination of the two!

2.Work was fine, hurrah for Friday.....no long weekends for us! I was saying to DD1 that I will miss being in UK for Jubilee celebrations. One of my customers (from Scotland) popped in to say hello today. She is going home for a month & wanted to know if I wanted anything brought back, which was very kind of her.

3.Home.....ahhh! Best part of my day :)

4.Made carrot & coriander soup for tea.

5.cold start and finish to day but enjoyed sitting at the duckpond with a tuna sandwich for lunch,in the sunshine :) first day of winter!

Another week over - another 5 pleasures! Here goes!

    1. Managed to go around the supermarket today and only spent £0.44.
    2. Had a lightbulb moment over the fact that I can't "really" go into a supermarket without spending anything and that I need to work on my willpower. It was pretty gauling to admit to myself, but I do feel a bit brighter for doing so.
    3. I gave the Jubilee pack I got from my Mum to a colleague and she was really happy with it.
    4. Managed to only take 4 squares of Dairy Milk from the fridge when I got in, and left the mozzarella in the packet for tea!
    5. My hair feels quite nice and soft. I've been experimenting with an occasional coconut oil treatment (well, creamed coconut that I was never going to use from my pantry!)
    6. Meaty pasta for tea. Bacon and chorizo with a tomato and mozzarella sauce... ultimate comfort food for me!

I know that was 6, but I couldn't leave it at 5 today. Frith - the kittens sound lovely! I'm always one to coo over kittens :)

    Have a lovely weekend, everyone.

So much for me being Pollyanna-ish before 10:30 in the morning! Old SIM doesn't work in new phone (apparently its a "common problem with these phones") Have to go to town tomorrow now to sort it out (was meant to be a NSD too:mad:)
Ancient self-defrosting fridge decided to defrost itself but forgot to tell itself not to defrost all over kitchen floor - still, the floor needed washing. However my full salad drawers are decidedly soggy.
Found a food recycling caddy behind the shed which had been there for about 3 months, if not longer (after much retching and holding of breath, plus bleach its now clean).

Still, the sun came out and dried the washing, and I still don't have to go to work till Thursday:)
    Happy evening pobl

    Quite a busy day here!

    1) Sons off to school happily.

    2) Tidied the living room.

    3) Picked smaller son up at lunchtime and he had won the headteacher's award in assembly for the powerpoint presentation he wrote!! He was a bit silly in class today though, but 2 good days out of 3 isn't bad.

    4) My referral letter came from psychology. It had me down for group therapy so I had a rather panicky phone call to them where I put them straight about that!

    5) Son's letter came for another autism thingy.

    6) Gave the kittens to our neighbour :-( but she has left her house unlocked so we can keep popping in to visit them. Bigger son wanted the pure black one and neighbour said he can have him/her.

    7) Weeded the garden and took the tent down. Smaller son has spent many hours in it this week, wrapped in a duvet listening to the ipod.

    8) Texts from OH. :-)

    9) Off out to the village hall in a minute to our Jubilee event. You have to take some food (we made 24 fairy cakes) then I think we're all sharing it all. Sons have had a snoop about and there is a bouncy castle on the field at the back.

    10) Got loads to to with sons going away tomorrow (til Weds) then I'm away Sunday til late Tues with OH. :-) Getting through all the jobs steadily.

    11) Ooo, some exciting news! Had one of the many double glazing chaps back and have signed on the dotted line and will soon have 2 new windows! Hoorah! After many years of rain water coming through them, can't wait. :-)

    12) Looking forward to HIGNFY and the News Quiz later on.

    Evening all.

Frith - aww at the kittens - I'm sure your DSs will be excellent uncles to them. :)

sparrer - I'm very fond of Barcelona, although I haven't been there for some years. I'm sure you'd have a lovely time. :)

    For yesterday:
    1) AF refunded me for 6 tins of kidney beans, although only four are badly damaged.* It's good customer service although perhaps not quite as generous as I first thought: for the sake of £2 it's got to be cheaper for them to just refund rather than messing about with an investigation.
    2) A colleague brought in her loo-roll puppy (you know the brand / breed I mean, I'm sure ;)) as part of his guide dog training - so cute!
    3) Met up with one old friend and three news ones (friends of my friend) for dinner before heading off to a quiz...
    4) ...where, despite too much wine, we came 5th. :j Out of 7 teams. :o
    5) My friend kindly gave me a lift home afterwards so I didn't have to get a bus or taxi. :A

    * One of the tins isn't actually too badly damaged, but has lost its label and is a slightly different size and shape to the others. I'm rather looking forward to opening it and seeing if it actually contains kidney beans or something else entirely.

    For today:
    1) Finally got round to paying in the cheque for the expenses from my trip to Birmingham last month. :o
    2) Greek salad for lunch (not HM, although I had HM bread with it).
    3) My HG mushy pea plants are getting their first flowers. :j
    4) Easy dinner of jambalaya from the freezer. Or jambalaya-flavoured mush, anyway. (Note to self - jambalaya doesn't defrost very well, so don't try freezing it again. :o)
    5) Watching old episodes of Hairy Bikers before an early night - three nights out in a row has left me smiley-sleep008.gif.

    Have a good evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening,

    YAY! Its the long weekend!

    1). See above!

    2) Popped into town at lunch and bought a new jumper from Em&Es as well as a gorgeous dress, and some sunglasses (for 2.50!)

    3) Had a post work snooze

    4) Managed to not be rude/sarcastic/blunt with the twits I was dealing with today.

    5) An ex colleague from my current job emailed to tell me he has a second interview at my old work. He has to put together a presentation which he has asked for my help on.

Got a msg on FB from someone who I used to do jiu jitsu with. We got quite friendly a few years ago and then she got a boyfriend and all of a sudden wouldn't return my calls etc. Now 2 years later she wants to know how I am and to catch up. I am just deciding whether to even reply...

    Anyway - night night.

    Have a lovely weekend

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
