Evening everyone
Chicken still can't believe it myself, one more lb and it'll be 3 stone off in 17 months. Not earth-shattering to some but rather be the tortoise than the hare. I never did get my chooks but love hearing about yours, and Steven Seagull, it helps overcome the itch a little bit.
CCP thank you! That sounds so obvious. I did think of putting the sugar in a bowl, weighing it, making a well in the middle and pouring in the gs to required weight then gently tipping the whole lot in the pan, but I could imagine it all sticking together in a gooey mess. I've not made them yet, will try your idea tomorrow when I get back from lunch. Hope your queasiness has gone, the smell of the fresh bread would make me forget straight away
Skint we had a toadstool, said the Brownie prayer (or chant) at the beginning and Taps at the end of every meeting. There were no shorts/trousers in those days, so camp was always in mufti. Brought back happy memories reading the posts about it.
1. Lazy morning, pets let me stay in bed til 8.30am One advantage of not having a mog any more Ladyhawk, no-one to pat you on the head to get up when they want to!
2. Load of washing dried on the line, half the ironing done
3. Postie brought 5 lavender plants which were free with Mr T vouchers
4. Made aubergine parmigiana for lunch, had to do a bit of improvisation as I didn't have all the herbs I needed but it was delish anyway. There was enough for a supper as well...note I said there was enough
5. Been having a clear-out of the little bedroom/study/store room/glory hole and found lots of photograhic paper I'd forgotten about so DD can have that, the children's school books and reports which took at least an hour to go throughand all sorts of bits for DD's car boot sale. It's about a quarter of the way to cleardom, but I am the tortoise..
Have a good evening, just getting into my jimmies and putting the kettle on, then going to watch Casualty0 -
Fingers crossed ladyhawk. We don't have gazzumping up here as it's a different system. Sealed bids so still stressful but the acceptance of the offer is binding.
Comfort food for us tonight - steak pie, beans and carrots. Then I'll leave the oven open to try to warm the kitchen up. My nose is cold and I'm tempted to put the heating on :-(
1) Weekly SM shop at L!dl £41.76 so feeling very pleased with myself. This included a huge bag of onions so mustn't let them go to waste. They also had An Affair to Remember £2.99 I love that film sniff sniff
2) Son and I walked into town. Central library (which I don't visit often) had a Montalbano and a Hamish Macbeth I haven't read :T
3) Called in at Tesco as L!dl doesnt do loose tea or DE coffee. DE large jar half price :j
4) On way home followed a trail of coins which we picked up feeling like Hansel and Gretel :rotfl: 60p in all which is just as well cos road kill jar this month hasn't been fed much - too blinking cold to take hands out of pockets thus preventing people dropping coins
5) Listened to newsquiz and Ed Reardon on iPlayer. Both brilliant.

1. Got up at the crack of dawn (about 5am!!) and got going with stuff straightaway and felt gooooood, thanks to the sun shining
2. Up to date with all the washing
3. Made some deeeeelicious bread rolls for DD;s packed lunches
4. Bought a huge jar of olives for £1
5. OH texted just as I got up
6. Did the H-word (o o v e r i n g *shudder*)
7. Yummy lunch at a friend's with DD, the girls played and the grown ups nattered and drank low-alcohol wine
8. We all then had fun at a school fete, and I bumped into lots of people we know and thankfully didn't spend too much
9. Feeling very proud of DD's kindness. It's OH's mum's birthday tomorrow and she bought her a lovely book and a bookmark at the fete from her pocket money
10. Feeling full thanks to DD - she bought me a fairy cake
11. We have a 1 year old guest here for a sleepover tonight so her parents can part-ay. She's a real cutie, we used to babysit at hers but this is better, as no stairs to tackle.
12. DD has been lovely with the baby, reading her stories and even dealt with a rather fragrant nappy!
13. We also went for a short bike ride this morning
14. Have bought a swanky shower for cheapness on the bay of eeees.
15. The lovely sunshine
16. Walked around loads today and felt very sore for only a short time, hoorah!!
17. DD and I are watching Ice Age 2 now..yup, another late night for my little cherub, but as she says, she wants to sleep in my room with the baby and so needs to make sure the babe's fast asleep first.....I'm such a sucker!!
18. Going to have an earlyish night too myself in case the baby wakes up, don't want to be like a bear with a sore head as we have another busy day tomorrow!
19. Felt oh so proud of myself this morning, have managed to find DD's swimming stuff for school (that flipping hat goes AWOL all the time!) and it's all ready in a bag for Tuesday morning, woo hoo(Usually I'm hunting around at 10 to 9 on the day of her first lesson for everything, so this is a huge improvement........)
20. I promise, this'll be the last one, have sorted out loads of bits for the charity shop, just have to make sure I actually get there before I decide I do need them after all....
Enjoy the rest of your evening everyone0 -
Ooo, Led Zep just come on the ipod! I ran Robert Plant over a few years ago. (Honestly - he lives about 10 miles away!) I was only going slowly (looking for a parking space) and he stepped out in front of my car and fell over onto the bonnet.
OMG really?? That's mental! What did he say?:eek:Mortgage-free wannabe!0 -

Mornings
Just wandered why Facebuck has again notified me that I has not bin in their parish for a while and all exciting things have happened to some of my followers. Good thing that database, how does it know these things!! No doubt some opbscure ex school pal who I has not met for thirty plus years has been out and had too much wobbleade and their photo has been tagged.
5 Sunday Service today, so jacks tea again. Two choices this week, Like it or Lump it
4 If you must insist, the cat has taken over the house, last nights chicken wings are strewn across the floor again. Just how do they manage to get back in, when they have been carefully placed outside, away from the cat. Note, these are chicken wings from boned breasts from the butcher. I would never entertain any mechanically butchered supermarket meat here.
3 Afternoon will be free I think. I'll watch the cricket.
2 Those nice new Man City fans have to wait until 10 o'Clock to change the their shirts, when JJB are open.

Have you got the TuneIn radio app? Think it's only 69p and well worth it.
Ps edit to add there is a free version too.0
