So tired. Got yet another cold and it's rained all day so finding 5 looking a challenge. Started day with couple of disasters on computer. No, let's call them teething problems. Please send dentist to extract them!
1) had very nice salmon and cream cheese sarnie for lunch
2) had silly email convo with colleague who's having a tuff time. She sed i'd given her her first smile today
3) wrote to student saying rather than failing him i'd asked admin to wipe his submissions and he could do them one at a time using feedback from each to feed into next. He sent me nice email back so know i made the right decision :T
4) did some marking for colleague who's struggling. Was good to be in position to help :A
5) DD2 had ok appointment with consultant. She'll now get referral to ent. She's very happy, not least cos her exams are over :TMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

5 or so for today.
1) Smaller son had a good morning at school! I spoke to his TA when I picked him up at lunchtime and he had done some work and not left the classroom at all. :-) She doesn't work Friday afternoons but school didn't phone so he must have been OK.
2) Son and I went to lunch at mum and dad's (bit of a squeeze to manage it in lunch hour) and had soup and homemade bread and son went on the trampoline for a bit.
3) Nice message from my sons friends mum about possibly changing school. I talked to her about it last night and she phoned her friend once I'd gone who actually teaches year 5/6 at one of the possible schools! So that was thoughtful of her.
4) Nearly forgot this one! I phoned lots of builders about having new window frames fitted downstairs (mine are ancient and leak rain in). Well, it was the usual - no, or no reply etc. Then I phoned a man down the road who told me he is now retired. He said "Oh, you are up the road, I know the cottage" and next thing I know he knocked on the door with a list of numbers of local window fitters he had worked with and recommended!
5) Fish and chips for tea.
6) Went swimming with sons just now.
7) All going to watch a DVD or something in iplayer in my bed.0 -
VJs mum well done to your DD you must be so proud
Frith glad your son had a better day, I know how awful it is to get calls from the school every day - I used to get them at work and thankfully they were very understanding when I had to dash off and get DS. Thankful every day that he has now left ...11 years of hell
Thanks for all your get well wishes.
1. Lovely to see the sun
2. Its Friday !!!!!
3. Leftover garlic and herb pork and mushroom pasta for lunch
4.Finished work early as feeling poorly. Called into Doctor on way home and managed to get an emergency appointment.... mirace in itself !!
5. Doc says I have Benign positional Vertigo, which although not nice is thankfully not serious and hopefully will not last long. Have to go back 8.30 monday morning for Epley maneuvour which he thinks should help and he gave me some tablets to help with sickness. Looks like a lazy weekend for me - any movement of head and room spins :rotfl:

Yesterday and today's pleasures.....
1. OH babysat for me last night, the sweetie xx
2. DD is singing in the bath right now and sounds so cute
3. The sun has come back and 3 loads of washing have been done and dried, hoorah!
4. DD and I have done some gardening, not that an outsider would see any difference but we've done some weeding, admired and chatted to the plants and transplanted our tomato plants into grobags in the greenhouse and have dirt under our fingernails, so we feel good!
5. Good days with work yesterday and today, fixed a problem that will earn me loads of brownie points, and v. senior people will be pleased (all behind the scenes but my boss knows how fab I am)
6. Spent a fortune in MrT's....but got £12 off using various LV and vouchers and then got the 5p/litre till spit, so sort of worth it all, as 'free' shopping including wine for girly dinner tomorrow night and lots of yummy veg
7. Looking forward to the scrum tomorrow morning to try and get Prom's tickets.
8. Called car hire company to complain that I couldn't amend my existing booking for our holiday online as our flight times have changed, and the chap had to cancel the booking and rebook - £29 cheaper
9. OH has been very lovely and has ordered DD a set of books to take on holiday with us, he really thought about what she would like and she's going to be tickled pink as it's Michael Morpurgo who apparently is the big thing in the Year 2 reading world (and beyond!)
10. Funny emails from my mother, telling me all about their house renovations; I think she got envious of my building site and so is turning their house into a mess too!!
11. Went to see a friend for a cuppa and a good natter yesterday afternoon as I had to stay late for a meeting, then DD was over at a friend's for tea, so it was nice to have some completely me time
12. Have found my driving licence and our passports this afternoon. I had a vague idea where they were, now know for sure!!
13. Looking forward to finishing the book I started the other night.
14. Cloud-gazing, the sky is beautiful this evening
15. Reading the pleasures on here, thank you all xx0 -
Evening all.
I'm pleased to say I'm safely back from Birmingham, despite a nasty outbreak of cows on the line - that was my train, and very scary it was too!
Some pleasures from the last few days:
1) The nice hotel manager waiving the card payment fee for my room as he could see I was too tired to think of an alternative payment method - well, it was quarter to one in the morning!
2) The conference was very interesting and I met some really nice people, although I wasn't quite sure what to say to one lady who told me how nice it was to see me at an industry event again, when I've never been to one before. :undecided
3) Lots of good food at the conference - all free - which made up for not getting any dinner the previous night as I was stuck on a broken train for five hours.
4) Mooching around Birmingham city centre after the conference yesterday - I somehow managed to visit a nice pub for a drink, have some dinner in a restaurant, and walk around admiring the floodlit buildings for a while, all without falling asleep.
5) Looking round the Jewellery Quarter this morning, which I really liked and would gladly have stayed longer. I even managed to come away with only two new pieces of jewellery, which was a bit of a surprise.
6) Saw a pair of bullfinches - only the second time I've ever seen any.
7) A delicious lunch of local beer and local sausages in a rather smart Victorian pub before getting the train home.
8) Arrived home safely and almost on time, although I confess I got nervous every time the train gave a small lurch.
9) Lots of purrs and licks from mog when I got home.
10) Hearing swifts screaming around my flat - it may not feel like summer, but it sounds like it.
mhags - I'm so glad to hear that your OH has come home.:):)
Skint / OT / Frith - hugs to you all, and to anyone else feeling ill / stressed / miserable.
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
1. Sorted out more paperwork, slowly getting through the pile
2. Phoned my gas/elec supplier, cancelled Econ 7 as I only use approx 16%, it will only save me £3 a month but better than nothing. Also changed from paper to on line billing which means another 1% off the bill. Every penny helps!
3. Found some Mr T vouchers going out of date so ordered some lavender plants and busy lizzies
4. The wind finally blew down the old arch over the side path, so I took it down while managing to save the Russian Vine and honeysuckle growing in pots up each side of it. I have lots of Nectar points to spend on a stronger replacement so will look around for one at the weekend
5. My boy cat took up residence on a growbag, fortunately not in use yet, curled up fast sleep and didn't even see the Mrs Blackbird on the wall above him. I did though and kept an eye on the situation til she flew away
Hugs to everyone, sleep tight0 -
ooooh ccp much drama! Poor cows and glad nobody was hurt although you must have got a fright.
thrith keep strong, as your son's mother you know in your heart what is right for him & what is wrong for him, you'll both get there in the end.
sparrer....see what happens when you do your papework! You save money!
kittikins you and young Miss Kitty sound very happy in your new home and garden. Enjoy!
dundee doll, skint yet again & old tractor hope you're all feeling better soon.
tealady & ladyhawk enjoy the moonwalk.....wear that bra with pride tealady!
mcculloch well done on your live below the line challenge! I have much admiration for you doing this challenge. I think I would struggle!
vj's mum oooh get you and your exercising! Hope your dad is doing well!
chicken : looking forward to hearing how the new chookies settle in, we live near a kids nursery & they have 1 hen, no idea what kind it is though but I love going by & seeing the kids out playing , very carefree and just having fun!
I'm sure I've missed a few regulars out but I have really appreciated the support you have all given me over the past month.
It's Saturday afternoon, all is quiet (ish ) FIL watching telly!
OH is sleeping, son is computing, DD1 at work & DD2 supposedly tidying her room, so I've got my feet up, grabbed a book ,one of my new UK mags, bar of chocolate has gone already and I just intend to relax for an hour or so!
So today's pleasures:
1.Nice chat with my friend from home. I woke up early, had a blether & then went back to bed again for a wee while.
2.For the first time in 5 weeks I went shopping! But still my heart not really in but got myself some new PJ's and dressing gown. They were already reduced then had a further 50% off. I dropped DD1 off at mall , she was going to cinema with friends, I gave her one of my cinema vouchers. They had been for over Easter hols but our life change got in the way of that!
3.Shopping for food. Usually do Aldi & Woolworths but past 3 weeks have just done Woolworths & have been spending less than usual. But as I now have an extra mouth to feed this week spent a bit more than past few weeks but still not as much as usual. Got a few RTC items.
4.Came home....put shopping all away, did 2 loads of washing got them out on line, DD2 hoovered, I cleaned bathrooms. We cleared garden & driveway off autumn leaves & DS cut grass. So we're all a bit tidier.
5.Went out for some lunch. OH cannot eat but came along, so hope it did him some good getting out of house for an hour & some fresh air.
6.Very nice district nurse came to see him. It is such a different healthcare system here, no free NHS. We get 2 weeks of 'free' district nursing then have to start to pay. We have found the whole health care system very confusing. However, on the whole the health professionals we have dealt with are friendly & kind.(which is free!)
So we have to get used to a different kind of weekend, past month I have just rushed everywhere with no real time to call my own, so whilst nice to do nothing much it does feel strange!
Have a lovely weekend, hope the sun shines for you, Mhags x0 -
Just popping in as have been unable to sleep well. Been awake since 6am and every time I move the room is spinning. Cant stay long as even the screen of my lappie is trigering my vertigo
Just wanted to say
CCP - am so glad you are ok.
MHags Your posts now sound like a weight has been lifted. I know is early days but such a pleasure to see ! You still have woolworths !! Am jealous. Do you have to pay for health insurance in OZ if no NHS ?
Well the sun is shining so am away to put some washing on. Cant let a chance to get washing on line slip away today0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
House sale OCT 2022 = NOW MORTGAGE FREE 🤗
