Chicken, I am so very, very sorry for your family's loss. Puts everything else so firmly into perspective. Wishing you all strength and comfort.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0

Chicken - really sorry for your loss. Ypu and your family will be in my prayers.
1. Met a friend for coffee - in a garden centre as the coffee is good and much cheaper. Managed not to buy anything else.
2. Felt tired in the afternoon so read my book and was lazy.
3. DS2 went to the shops so he stocked up on stamps before the price rise next week.
4. Just had an omelette for tea as DS2 and DH were both out.
5. The money plant leaves that had fallen off seem to have rooted. Hopefully if they continue to grow they could be christmas presents.0 -
*hugs* chicken.x
1) woke up to my youngest smiling at me and squeaking because he was so excited mummy was awake. (Bad night so we co slept)
2) Hubby then saying I can go back to bed for a bit!
3) listening to the boys playing together.
Thats it so far0 -
Sunday evening here and have just clicked heating on as it's a bit cool!
Emotionally a bit stretched today, I think tiredness has a big part to play and not much time to do absolutely nothing.
1. Excellent transport system in Melbourne .
2. Nice walk up to hospital ....comfy trainers on, yesterday I wore new boots , bad idea.
3. Husband a bit brighter today, he was very tired yesterday. Hopefully only a couple more days in hospital then we have to get used to a new routine at home.
4. Kids travelled into city independently and came up to hospital themselves, giving me a chance to have time alone. However we managed to share some laugh out loud moments which were hilarious!
5. Home at a reasonable time but also having spent a reasonable time visiting. Being a visitor is such hard work!
6. Rain was forecast but has stayed off so far so my washing got dry.
7. Having soup from freezer for tea, with nachos then a choccy pudding.0 -
Thanks for the bike hiring ideas, I'm so silly hadn't thought about it and living near Brighton, I've discovered there are a few companies that I can hire one for an hour and pootle along the seafront, on the flat (yay) and see how much it won't (thinking positively) hurt my leg x
What I do know though, is that driving up to Manchester for a wedding in May is a completely unrealistic idea, even if I split the drive up over 2 days, I wouldn't have the option on the way back because of school and work. Drawing board time for that one...0 -
Chicken I am so sorry to hear about your cousin. Such tragic news. My thoughts are with you.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

Afternoon,
I feel a little guilty about posting pleasures from the weekend after Chicken's news... but I am sure she will forgive me.
1) Long chat with L - she has just changed jobs and has realised that she has made a mistake and doesn't know what to do about it... just walk out now as she is in her probationary period and only has a weeks notice or wait for find something else which may take her past her probationary period when she will have 3 months notice. not sure that I helpedbut it was nice that she called me to talk it through with.
2) Lovely relaxing weekend (so glad I cancelled the colleague) - its been quiet but lovely
3) Popped into the bank for a pretty pointless review but took the opportunity to go to the main library in town and spent a most enjoyable hour sitting in a corner, reading cosmo.
4) Afternoon sleep
5) Started and finished a new book from the library - one of the Jack Reacher novels. They are so far fetched but I love them nonetheless
6) Made a tray cake and scoffed it all by myself! (not in one sitting so I don't feel bad!)
7) Chatting on FB with a friend in Melbourne
8) Sorted out my savings account so I am now getting more than the 0.1% that I was previously. This is for my new house so everything helps
9) Washing is done
10) Ironing is done
Hope you all are safe, warm and dry.

Good evening all!
Thank you ALL for your kind wishes , it means a lot .
Ladyhawk - don't you dare feel bad about posting your pleasures. I need them badly x x
As you can imagine I have been mulling the whole thing over with my family and there is nothing than anyone can do to change the situation however horrible it is .So I am trying to make the best of a sh***y situation ....so here goes.
1. Reading your kind words has truly tested out the waterproof qualities of my mascara . One panda less at the funeral, has got to be good right?
2. Sent a cheque off to the horse charity I support - although couldn't read the news on their website as can't deal with anything else upsetting at the moment.
3.Wrote some reviews on products that I am trialling -safe , arms length stuff I feel no emotion about .
4.My hens smell like wet dogs from the torrential rain.
5 Tea with Mussolini is on - I love Dame Maggie Smith and Dame Judi Dench and quirky old Cher.
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Well, what a surprise - it's raining again. I'm getting heartily sick of the perpetual sogginess.
1) NSD and NPD.
2) Finished my book - it got lousy reviews and I was expecting to hate it, but it actually wasn't bad at all. (I bought it because I've read all the others in the series and thought I'd better read the last one to finish things off.)
3) A bowl of HM chilli with a HM roll for lunch.
4) Changed the bed so I've got nice clean sheets tonight, and have got rid of the new duvet cover I bought in a sale and wish I hadn't - it's made of very slippery material and I spend my nights pulling the duvet back on to the bed as it keeps sliding off.
5) Beef and ale stew with cheesy muffin topping for dinner tonight - nice and warming on a cold, wet evening.
Stay dry, all.Back after a very long break!0
