Argh - children who won't settle to ANYTHING but keep arguing and going in and out of the front door like I don't know what. :-S Bath is nearly run so they can sit in there for a while.
Will try for 5 for today (Friday)
1) House immaculate!
2) Educational psychologist came out to talk to me and was very thorough and she is thinking through how to get smaller son on a more even keel at school.
3) Filled in bigger son's data capture form to send to his high school.
4) Good Housekeeping magazine came through the post (my school friend buys me a subscription every Christmas)
5) Made 2 trays of fairy cakes.
6) Found another job to apply for! 16 hours a week, flexible and only 3 miles away (probably the nearest job you could possibly get, short of working in the village shop!) Have been writing a CV nearly all day, its driving me mad. :-(
7) Texts from OH. 5 days without him, only 2 more to go...
and 8) Wearing my new trousers which smaller son noticed and said look nice! £2 from the hospice charity shop. :-)
CCP - good news on your winnings!0 -

oops sorry VJsmum, didn't see it was your anniversry today, hope you had a good one
Ladyhawk yes I did, saw a 'double' rainbow, one of which was very hazy. I was once told that's the rainbows reflection, don't know if that's true so will have to look it up
CCP I love cowslips, but then I would, they're yellow. Hope you manage to plant them on safely
Wow lucky you chicken, having a break in the rain to do some gardening. Or did you run in and out between downpours?
Mhags good to hear you have such good friends to help you out where they can. Pleased your OH continues to improve albeit slowly
Bitsy wish I'd been with you, I love puddle jumping but my mutt wouldn't have been keen either ha ha
DundeeDoll hope you found the natives friendly
Tealady don't you just love the moment when you reach a target and click the button to claim your reward?
1. nsd/npd
2. Good chat on the phone with DS this morning, always good to have someone to bounce ideas off and help each other out where we can. He's sounding more positive than he has for some time which I'm grateful for
3. Looking ahead to breakdown renewal - I got a great offer as new customer last year and haven't had any accidents, so renewing with the same company is going to be cheaper than any of the others and will save a lot of hassle
4. Postie brought me some pretty woven Union Jack ribbon with which to make straps for my Jubilee Day dress
5. She also brought me a pack of marigold seeds, thanks to freebie board.
Sweet dreams0 -
Thanks all
5 for yesterday
1. Had my first soak in the bath since boiler was mended
2. Did a quick cheap shop in my local Morry's. I find I spend much less doing this than going to Mr S or wherever
3. Lunch with friends. One is really going through it - dad has terminal cancer, mum is in a MHU with depression and her FIL has just had a heart attack. She seems to be coping well with it at the mo.
4. The house is clean! Cleaner than it has been for a long time. As I am now chief cleaner (my cleaner having left a couple of weeks ago) I hope to be able to keep on top of it.
5. Out for a meal with the family. I had yummy pasta with prawns and crayfish, lemon and rocket. And a cheeky glass of red. Really delicious.
OH gone out gallivanting for the day so I am soccer mum this morning (oi ref, leave my boy alone!!!) taking DD to my god daughter's dancing show this afternoon ( surely taking godmotherly duties to the extreme, watching other people's darlings prancing round a stage for 2 hours) and then a glass of red and rubbishy talent shows tonight.
Harry Potter land tomorrow - excited :jI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Kittikins - happy birthday
VJsmum - happy anniversary
Sparrer and CCP - I see cowslips every day while walking my dog and they cheer me up especially when its raining.
Mhagster - pleased your husband is recovering and that you are being supportrd by friends.
1. DS2 making speech at school and it went well - he was so nervous before.
2. Managing to control my back pain with pikates and being careful with what I do.
3. Had a chat with a 4 year old boy at work who told me that his mum knows more than me as she is older than me at 32. I am 14 years older than that!
4. Tulips coming out in the garden and the violas I planted are still looking good and makes the front of the house look brighter and cheerful.
5. Been wlking slightly further most days as doing the carrot walk in September - 15 mile night walk in London.0 -
Hello all and thank you for the birthday wishes
I had a lovely day x
1. DD and her sleepover chum were so excited and happy it was my birthday in the morningWe made pains au chocolat from a can for brekkie and I was very pleasanly surprised at how nice they were, basically fresh rather than the usual stale offerings you get at supermarkets!
2. Took OH to the doctor's and met a new one, who was lovely and I'd ask for her in the future, very friendly, conscientious, good fun. Heck, if you go to the surgeries as often as OH needs to, you need to have fun doctors
3. Missed a call from my parents, but they sang down the phone to me
4. Hardly any work to do, hoorah!
5. OH and I went out for scrummy lunch
6. Sold DD's old bed which paid for lunch and some left over, hoorah!
7. The sunshine, thank you very much for shining for me
8. Got a load of towels and bedding washed and dried very quickly. (Won't be doing that today as its tipping it down again)
9. DD and I cooked up a scrumptious feast of different dishes for dinner with our lovely friend J who came over bringing prosecco, flowers and who said all the right things about how lovely our new house is. We had a fabulous evening, stayed up til nearly midnight chatting and laughing.
10. Discovered that I have raspberry canes popping out of the hedge already! Oh well, at least I can shove the other 6 canes I've just bought in there and see what happens.......might make cutting the hedge later in the year rather 'fun' though!! But nomnomnom to the thought of raspberries fresh from the garden again0
