Evening all.
mcculloch - I didn't know you could get coloured / painted tb's, so that's my new fact for today. He's a seriously handsome beastie, isn't he?
Skint - I didn't get the thunderstorm either - shame, as I love a good storm. The greenhouse is still upright, I'm pleased to say, although the cover's so cheap it's torn already. This one should probably go back for a refund, too, but frankly I can't be bothered now it's full of plants!
mhags - I'm glad your OH is picking up. Enjoy your flowers!
1) Woke up this morning to the sun shining through the curtains, which put me instantly in the mood for a BBQ.
2) Made my DF a happy man by looking up the pub he and my DM are staying in when they go to a wedding next month and finding that it specialises in real ale, which he loves.
3) NSD.
4) Looking forward to some posh kebabs for dinner - bought RTC and cheaper than I could make myself. :money: I have yet to decide if they'll actually be BBQ'd or if they'll end up under the grill - the weather has about an hour to make its mind up!
5) No work tomorrow so, however the kebabs end up being cooked, I can enjoy them with a lazy glass of wine.
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Chickenopolis, that was really interesting what you had to share. So many apprentices don't get the breaks their talent deserves.
Angrove Rumbaba is 90% thoroughbred, he has a 2 year old coloured sister who will also become a racehorse all being well. and his mum will be foaling again any day now with a foal who is guaranteed to be coloured due to the gene being dominant.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... Evenin all - is this the wettest drought ever? It hasn't done anything but rain in between the showers today
The boiler people are back tomorrow so keep your fingers crossed.
For today
1. Caught up on my laundry - the bigger drummed washing machine makes a difference
2. made a crumble with my precious stash of blackberries - only one lot left in the freezer now.
3. An afternoon of marking as (nearly) everyone went out - the pleasure was the peace
4. The lasagne was yummy. DS didn't realise the amount of veg that was in it, OH thought there was double the amount of meat than there was.
5. Not going out.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
'The wettest drought ever'... that made me smile! Re the lasagne, I have just discovered that grating carrots on the finest side of my grater makes them completely undetectable in mince dishes... this will be well used.
My grater is a wonderful bit of kit, ex Army Married Quarters issue, marked 1962 and pretty much in daily use. I've got a tablecloth and rolling pin from the same source and of similar vintage.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... CCP hope you had a good bbq.
mhags good to hear your news
vjsmum good luck with the boiler tomoz
Back home after busy weekend in Edinburgh.
1) Had lovely sleep in this morning hooray followed by breakfast with DD in cafe next to her flat :T
2) Had lovely mooch round Edinburgh with DD till lunch time then found cafe doing lunch time special for £3.95 just off Princes Street. Very tasty. DD had steak and ale pie with tats and I had kedgeree
3) Really busy train :-( no seats, sardine time. First I was in 'quiet zone' occupied by a group of very loud and very drunk lads. Decided to hop out and run to other end of train. Door areas so crowded decided to fight my way through to centre of that carriage and very nice man with 2 booked seats offered to have his very lively young daughter on his lap.
4) Good support meeting then went off for drink with two others at meeting
5) Reverbed £1.05 getting off the train, OH picked me up, home for supper and long soak in bath and now I'm in bed :TMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

5 for today (Sunday)
1) Waking up at OH's. Bit of a lie in.
2) Good drive home.
3) Went to a local National Trust place with my sister. Amazing thunder and lightning storm and so much hail it looked like snow!
4) School friend came round for tea.
5) Boys back from their father's and bigger son quite jolly this evening.
6) Good news about OH's mum. She has a health problem that looked very serious indeed for a while but turns out it is not so bad. Still needs an op but will be OK.
7) Actually feeling completely back to normal at last. Not a big fan of ptsd but the worst bit recently is the paranoia. :-(0 -
Hello all, I've been away for a pre-birthday weekend celebration at my parents, great to go away, and good to be back home
1. DD sat in the front of the car in her booster seat and we had a great journey to and from my parents, singing, chatting, making silly jokes etc etc. She's a great companion
2. We went to the Science Museum show with my dad yesterday (sadly my mum was feeling too ill to come with us) and it was amazing, DD was on the edge of her seat all the way throughI'm so pleased I asked for tickets for my birthday present.
3. Saturday was a NSD, woohoo!
4. My lovely non spice-eating daughter made a gorgeous veggie curry for me and my dad for dinner, bless her, it was scrumptious, perfectly spiced, hot without ripping your throat out!! She also made a non-curry curry for her and my mum, we had a great birthday meal
5. I was given flowers and cards and best of all, DD serenaded me on her guitar with my dad backing her on his banjo when they sang me Happy Birthday. I welled up but managed not to cry, what a fabulous present
6. After all that excitement, we popped into Co$tco and bought essentials on the way home and I treated myself to a magazine......well, they are discounted and and and...0 -
Good evening all!
Mcculloch - thank you - however I would put it down to being persistent as opposed to having a talentmuch preferred bringing on a youngster at home and riding its first "bit of work" to its eventual debut on the racecourse. Happy days
kittikins - I am glad to hear that you had a lovely pre birthday weekend .
CCP - enjoy your week off!
5 for today
1. Only spent an hour or two in the office , then spent the rest of the day on a site visit.
2. The visit went better than planned .
3. Had my lunch break at 3.30pm at home so finished "early".
4.Jerk chicken, rice and peas for tea.
5. As a gimmick I purchased a "title" for my OH from the Glencoe Estate - he is from Shetland "crofting stock" and yet is more of a soft Southener than I am :rotfl:. I have and will have great pleasure calling him Lord Snooty ...."ooh ,I have never kissed a Lord before" and all that, no end of mirth for me. He owns one square foot of the estate and the money goes towards conservation on the estate.
Have a good evening all!:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Quick 5 from here.
1) Took stuff to charity shops.
2) Quick dash round Sainsburys.
3) My tiny ISA got £10 of interest!
4) Had lunch at my mum and dad's.
5) Phone call from smaller son's educational psychologist who is coming out here to speak to me on Friday (must tidy up). Then a phone call just now from his paediatrician to ask what on earth school are doing with him (I wonder that myself...) and what I would like him to do to help. The trouble is, I don't know what smaller son wants/needs and would really like a professional to tell ME what to do! Anyway, he's being assessed for high level autism again and the autism team are supposed to be going in to school to tell the staff how to deal with him. Not really sure why the ed psych wants to see me again but will find out on Friday.
6) Still feel remarkably chipper today. It's only when I feel better that I really realise how low I felt before! Was humming a little bit going round sainsburys then thought one aisle was empty and it was safe for me to break into singing - and looked round to find another mother from school saying hello to me!0 -
