Morning
Mhagster - Glad to hear your DH is improving daily :j
Pleasures for the last couple of days:
1. Managed a 19 mile training walk and didn't get soaked. Knees felt a bit ouch though
2. OH took us out for lunch on Sunday so no cooking for me.
3. Finished a job that was a pain at work. Glad its done with now
4. Have managed a couple of NSD's
5. Small pay rise from work, nothing to get rich on but better than nothing
6. Dinner out with the girls (had a voucher of course). So much laughing it hurt. I don't think the table next to use appreciated all our laughing some how
7. Lots of cooking done this morning before work for our charity baking day tomorrow at work.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Sad News
LBH "Ellie" was eaten by a fox yesterday. The fox got her through a chain link fence which is around the hen coop. She must have been right adjacent to the fence and the fox put its paw through and grabbed her or , more possibly, she pecked at the fox through the netting and it bit her head off. We have seen her peck at the cats to see them off. There was just a leg and wing left in the hen pen this morning.
Holly has been given to a friend this morning and we are going to put 2 layers of chicken wire and timber rails on the bottom of the chain link cage to prevent any future hens putting their heds out or foxes their paws in.
We bought the chain link cage to keep them safe as it has a roof and is very strong and neither badgers or foxes can bite through it.0 -

1. Low spend day......wish it had been a NSD, but maybe tomorrow!
2. Arranged for a friend to come over for dinner on Friday night, she's so lovely

4. Friendly colleague at work was in today, good job she's friendly as she sits near me!
5. Finished a fab library book
6. DD and I came home and did a bit (note the word bit...) of tidying up and I feel better for it!
7. Lovely texts with OH during the day
8. Called the council tax office to ask why I haven't had any payments taken out for my new house yet, only to be told that my payments are going to start next month and I will only have one month rather than 2 payment free at the end of the tax year. Woohoo! All of a sudden rather than being over £100 mentally overdrawn, I'm now in creditThe temptation to spend was hard to resist......so I bought more raspberry canes from Wilko's
Really glad I didn't call earlier in the month as I'd probably be £100+ overdrawn anyway!

Evening all.
It's been a pretty rubbish day for me - my new greenhouse collapsed, destroying most of my precious seedlings, a bad storm overnight kept me awake so I've felt tired and headachey all day (this gives an idea of how bad it was ), and my plans for a lie-in to compensate were scuppered when the storm knocked out the electricity, which set off the burglar alarm right outside my flat.
But :think::
1) The shop which sold me the faulty greenhouse gave me my money back, and are even considering my request for compensation for all the damage to my plants. (I suspect they'll say 'no' in the end, but at least they're thinking about it. :T)
2) Made pancakes for breakfast.
3) Managed to register for my OU course, thanks to some help from a nice man in the Manchester office - apparently they had no record of my previous contact with them.
4) A lazy day doing not much except watching the rain blowing across the garden.
5) Chatting on the phone with my DM.
6) Managed to salvage some of my seedlings - in one of the few gaps in the rain - although I've sadly lost far more than I've saved.
7) I posted some mildly critical feedback on a company's website and they responded within about 10 minutes addressing my concerns. :T
8) A naughty glass of my favourite alcoholic ginger beer while typing this - bought on SO, of course. :money:
9) Pasta bake for dinner tonight, to use up a portion of honey-mustard chicken that I intended to freeze but have now found I don't have room in the freezer for.
10) As I was out last night (at a pub quiz, which we won :j), I have an episode of HB to watch tonight.
That was easier than I thought!
OT - I'm so sorry to hear about Ellie - poor little hen.Back after a very long break!0
