Hugs to Mhagster - sending positive vibes for a speedy recovery and wish your DD school problems are listened to and acted upon.
Frith - I hope you manage to talk and sort out the problem.
1. Being given some rhurbarb from my DM. I love rhurbarb but it always expensive to buy.
2. Managed to tidy the house - a good feeling.
3. Taking a healthy lunch into work and resisting urge to buy crispa all week.
4. Finishing up showergel and shampoo so both are truely empty - about a week after the rest of the family thought they were empty.
5. DS2 coming to collect us from station after a train had broken down and we were diverted and no information regarding when we would get back to our original destination. It was 11.30pm aswell.0 -
Morning everyone.
Despite being horrendously tired yesterday I did manage a couple of pleasures
1. The kids wanted to make dragon masks (no its not Chinese new year but they wanted to play Chinese new year) so it was lovely to watch them glueing and sticking onto paper plates and telling each other about their designs. They might have access to some pretty nifty gadgets but it's nice to see the old fashioned pleasures bring out as much pleasure in them.
2. Now I might not like weeks of endless rain like we've had over Easter BUT I confess I do have a perchant for rain clouds. Seen some spectacular dark clouds, never fail to be fascinated in this sky of ours.
3. Kids asked to go for a "tootle" which is basically a drive out to the countryside in the car last night. Drove past some spectacular rape seed flowers (bright yellow) which were in sunshine against a dark blue stormy sky. A photo wouldn't quite do it justice
And so far today:
1. I've had 10 hours uninterrupted sleep. Feel asleep with DD last night and boy do I feel better for it :j no poorly kids, no cats with mice just peace and quiet.
2. Sat and had a large cuppa in the conservatory sitting on my new sofa. It is my new favourite roomloving listening to the sounds of Luna the not so small puppy snoring along with the birds
:D
3. Early morning sunshine. Hope it stays for my dog walk a bit later.
Happy Saturday everyoneI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -

Hospital visiting today. He is a poorly soul but will get better slowly & surely.
1.A very autumnal start to day, very misty & damp & smelled like autumn. But brightened up & washing was all dried.
2.Made soup for kids lunch.....makes up for fish-fingers for their tea! This was at their request as they have not had fishfingers in years. OH had a craving for them pre-op so they had them last week & really enjoyed them...so that's tea sorted!
3.Nice chats with my best friends from home this morning.
Think that's all I can manage!
Have a good day x0 -
Hello, we are supposed to be safely ensconced in Pembroke tonight, and well we aren’t, DH has come down poorly:( and we decided what the long journey today will wait a day or 2 until he’s up to travelling, hopefully he's on the mend now.
1.NSD
2.Some sunshine and ferret cuddles whilst sitting out in the garden.
3.Hm pizza for lunch
4.Being packed up and ready to go, in a lovely clean house, it’s cluttered thou so not tidy ever.:o
5.Even thou the fridge is literally empty, I’ve managed to find ingredients for a Spanish omelette for dinner.:p
6.Me time later tonight (face pack/ deep condition hair/ de fuzz) and a hot bath:j0 -
Good evening all !
PK - sorry to hear that your OH is poorly - hope he gets well soon and you can be on your way to lovely, lovely Pembroke xx
5 for today
1. Alarm went off and asked OH if he would let the hens out , so I had an extra 2 hours sleep:).
2. OH had left an unopened slightlyout of date M&S luxury hot cross buns - not keen on feeding them to the Seagull so made a "posh" bread and butter pudding out of them - with double cream, egg, vanilla essence and caster sugar. Not wasting a quid.
3.Had another snooze this afternoon .
4. Fillet steak for teaeven better it was OH 's turn to buy the grocery shopping .
5.Enjoyed watching Merigo win the Scottish National (without carnage) on Ch 4 - nothing like a chestnut horse with a big white blaze , my fave.
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all.
My plan for today was to mooch around in the garden, dismantling my old mini greenhouse, putting up the new one, and planting some seeds and seedlings to put it in. However, by 5pm I had:
a) the old mini greenhouse still in one piece as all the bits have rusted together;
b) a cut on my wrist (that made me wonder when I last had a tetanus jab) from trying to break it up;
c) lots of bits that were supposed to be the new greenhouse, which proved to be so flimsy it just fell apart when the wind blew - very gently - on it(it's going back for a refund, not surprisingly);
d) a 3rd greenhouse which I had to dash out and buy so my tomato seedlings didn't have to sit out in the forecast thunderstorm.
So much for plans! :rotfl:
Anyway, pleasures:
1) HM onion, tomato and cheese bread for breakfast - that was an extremely successful experiment.
2) Greenhouse #3 turned out to be on special offer so was cheaper than the one it was bought to replace, as well as being of a decent quality so it doesn't fall apart when I look at it.
3) Managed to dodge the showers long enough to plant some more seeds, and to pot on some tomato seedlings. (I really hope my plan to sell on the excess plants works out, as I've currently got more tomato seedlings than I can count, let alone find homes for!)
4) Next door are having a BBQ: with all the faffing around I didn't have time for lunch, and the smell of grilling burgers is making my stomach rumble.
5) Lazy dinner tonight of RM pizza, with a well-earned glass or two of wine with it! :beer:Bitsy_Beans wrote: »Drove past some spectacular rape seed flowers (bright yellow) which were in sunshine against a dark blue stormy sky. A photo wouldn't quite do it justice
That sounds lovely - I love yellow flowers anyway (as everyone knows) but they do look particularly good against a black sky.
Mr mhags and Mr PK - get well soon, both of you!
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Glad to hear the hubby is on the mend Mhagster
For yesterday and today
Yesterday
1. Did some marking on the train
2. Unexpectedly saw my brother at the hospital visiting dad. Didn't know he was going to be there so it was a nice surprise
3. Hospital pleased with dad's progress and said he isn't being too difficult
4. Nam Po noodles for tea, bought in Euston and eaten on the train.
5. DItto the post above - saw some amazing skies from the train. Coventry copped some hefty rain at about 8.30, I reckon
6. Not sure if it is a pleasure as such, but I had an hour to spare before visiting. I decided to walk up the road where my beloved aunt and uncle, now departed, used to have their pub where I spent much of my childhood and youth. Not having children of their own, they kind of borrowed us. I thought it would be sad and a bit traumatic (why do it then?) but, you know, it wasn't. I felt at peace with what had gone before and don't need to go again. Is that good?
And today
1. Slept for ages and woke at a decent time
2. Lovely friend - who has been our cleaner but now has a full time job - came to say goodbye. I hope we keep in touch
3. Went out for afternoon tea with MIL - she paid
4. Have cooked tomorrow's lasagne, nice to be given time in my own kitchen to cook without hassle.
5. Lovely glass of wine (or two) watching the voice, and BGT in a mo. Just chillin with my boy.
Have a lovely evening all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
