Ooooh Sparrer, your trip to Rome is bringing back lots of memories for me of a trip I took with my mummykins a loooooong time ago. I threw my coins in the fountain and am still waiting to go back, one day soon I hope!0

Sparrar Ive never been to Rome.....would love to go, it sounds heavenly
Oh just thought of another pleasure.....been thinking all day it's saturday and just realised its Fridayresult :rotfl:

1. Went to the Trevi Fountain, not at all what I expected - it's stunning! Threw my 3 coins in and made my wishes, one for our lovely Mhags and her lovely family
5. Chicken in butter and tarragon sauce, creamed spinach, then coconut ice cream in the shell. Wonderful diet! Walked back from the restaurant a short while ago, the moon was big and round and very bright
Sweet dreams
S:)
Oh bu88er - do you have to throw 3 in? THat must be why I've never been back - I only threw one and even then there was a tramp fishing all the coins back out :rotfl:
YOur dinner sounds fantastic!
I am glad you are enjoying it - Rome is marvellous and one day I will go back.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
My five for today are,
1. Beautiful day, got lots of washing dry.
2. The chicken coop is built. It went together better than we thought. Just got to buy the wood and chicken wire for the run.
3. Taking the dog for a walk.
4. Oldest daughter talking to me now. Can't even remember why she stopped talking in the first place!
5. Having a chat with my dad about cooking.
Oldtractor, we are possibly going to get rhode island reds. Still not sure yet. It probably won't be for another couple of weeks yet. We have to get everything for the run. The run will be 9ft x 14ft, so they will have a bit of room.
Hope everyone has had a good day.
Mhags, It is so lovely being by the sea. Sending you positive healing vibes.

Working from home today but even so..
1. Hot cross buns for breakfast, after lunch and for supper. I love them but I only have them on Good Friday/Holy Saturday.
Unlike pancakes. Now pancakes, I do those all year round. They are so cheap and versatile it's daft not to. I haven't given up chocolate for Lent so, aiming for a balanced breakfast, I had a Tunnock's Caramel Wafer for the first time in ages. Bliss.
2. Son texting me that he would be late home from work, saving me worry and helping me to organise my time better.
3. A NSD.
4. Catching a reluctant student on the phone and hopefully cajoling her in to engaging with her course. She probably wasn't expecting a call on a Bank Holiday....
5. The happy discovery that the bargain basement white fish fillets in lemon and herb crumb that I bought from Heron Foods were absolutely lovely. I've had some 'whitefish' that tasted like wet flannel in the past. A really tasty meal of 'made from scratch' chilli jacket potato wedges, fish and peas that cost about £1.25 for 2 of us.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

Don't think three is essential VJsmum, but working on the principle that the fountain will bless one of them (as in the film/song) it was worth a try!
There were 'guards' with whistles which they blew if they thought anyone was going to take coins out. They collect €30,000 from the fountain at the end of each day!!! I can believe that, there were hundreds of people coming and going in the time we were there. It all goes to a supermarket for the needy/homeless, what a super idea

Yes it does - big time:D
sparrer - I am sure that you would have had some room for a small blonde person in your suitcase . It sounds as if you are having a fab time !
Ladyhawk - I am like Marmite , people either love me or hate me . My "way" with words has got me in to and out of a lot of trouble though .I technically have an "Acquired Brain Injury" which may make my comments more err.. florid .
Growing courgettes by any chance ?????:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
hello,
ladyhawk ,it's just Saturday afternoon, we are only 9 hours ahead of UK.
Well, I'll get the horrible bits out of the way first, slept badly, got up & realised it is all really real & really happening. We have a delay because it's Easter weekend but everything kicks off from Tuesday. So while a pleasure is, I am off work, kids are off school & we can all huddle together when we need to it also puts things on hold. So had another howl to start my day.
" Start your day the Mhagster way!" ....no don't recommend it, phoned my niece, who I'm very close to and that was hard . Was only on for 7 minutes, it was all I could bear.
Anyway pleasures:
1.We went for lunch, just the 2 of us and almost made it to the end without crying!
2.Supermarket shopping much much cheaper than usual!
3.Went to next town with DD2, she had a voucher to spend from her birthday & got bargains galore as shop had a sale on.
4.Bought Bisto gravy! Not cheap but worth it!
5.Bought 2 cans of Irn Bru......gulped down one , the others may have a sip!
6.Ironing mountain was done this morning & washing all dried & just needs folded (mainly towels & bathmats).
7.Will batch cook later as need to stock up freezer for when OH is in hospital & we need to visit.
8.Sun shining but much cooler, we had a huge thunderstorm last night so gardens all watered. Has stayed dry today. Autumn leaves falling quicker than DD2 can sweep them!
Enjoy your Saturday x0 -
hello,

Doh!! I forgot yesterday was Friday, not Saturday!
CHICKEN - I am trying to practice crop rotation so no tomatoes, and courgettes this year and the potatoes are going to be in buckets and not in the ground. So am going to have to think of things to do with beans and sweetcorn!Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
