no pleasures today
My darling husband has been diagnosed with cancer today so our sunny little world has just changed in a heartbeat! So please keep us in your thoughts & prayers and send positive vibes our way .
Massive, massive hugs to you and your H and your family. Sending you Positive, healing vibes by the bucket load xxxxxx
Not many pleasures for me yesterday as I spent far too much time yesterday rushing about and not really paying attention
1. Had my hair cut and it looks nice
2. Had Easter card made by DD at school, she's in nursery and trying to learn how to write her name, she tried so hard
3. Easter card made by DS, in which he'd written an Easter Poem in his best handwriting. Handwriting is something he finds difficult so was so chuffed to see what he had achieved
Sorry I've not mentioned anyone else individually, I will get thereI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -

mhagster - you are still in my thoughts x
5 for yesterday
1. Busy day at work - had to tell my colleague who sits opposite me in an open plan office that she really was rather "loud" on the phone and this was an hour length phone call and there was no where else for me or my other colleagues to go to get away from it. She apologised ,but it needed to be said as the person she was calling must have felt that they were being shouted at too !
2. Shifted some savings around ready for topping up new tax year ISA .
3. Knowing that if I needed to tell my employer to "shove it" I have some financial security for a couple of years due to the above pleasure, from hard work and following OS advice from sites like this :money:
4.Henry the hen hanging around the kitchen table for scraps like a begging dog. She loves shouting at my OH to feed her - she is so demanding.
5.Looking forward to the long weekend:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
okay, I have posted on this thread almost everyday for 15 months and it got me through the hard times when we moved here and had to adjust to a new lifestyle, so here goes to see if it can keep me going through this difficult time.
I am the most unattractive cryer and think my bladder is too near my tear ducts ! Have cried on & off (mostly on) since yesterday.I had to tell my children which was simply awful. We have promised to be honest at all times. I had to tell my inlaws & my mum on the phone. I had to email everyone else and tell them the bad news. Neither of us slept well and have been up since very early o'clock.
Good Friday pleasures:
1.The 2 of us drove to the beach, journey was quick as it is a very major public holiday here. Had a nice breakfast & then sat & watched the sea.
Whilst I don't like sand(it goes everywhere) I do have a love of the sea & had such a need to go & sit watch the waves come in & out, see daft dogs chase balls.
2.Went to city, got parked with no problems .
3.Had another coffee stop & girls got train in to city to join us.
4.Sat in sun & watched live & free comedy. It is Melbourne Comedy Festival. We laughed & shared smiles.
5.DD2 made leek & potato soup for tea.
6.Have spoken to 2 of my best friends. Have received lots of emails. I have asked for us to be in their thoughts & prayers.
I hope you all have a good weekend. Please keep us in your thoughts but please don't be afraid to post your pleasures. It gives me pleasure (and always has) to read them ( generally a nosey person!) x0 -
then sat & watched the sea.
I am generally not a beach person, but I adore the sea. I grew up by it and now live about as far as you can from it (in England anyway). It is so calming - i used to tell it my teenage woes - and when I go to visit my dad I always have to go and see the sea. It is my meditation space and I can hear it in my head now. I wish you calmness and strength. xxI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Well, I've been at OH's (or at least not at home) since Tuesday morning so here are some pleasures in no particular order for the last few days!
1) Taking my aunty to hospital to see my uncle (he's nearly 93). He's really not very well but it was good to see him then to have a cup of tea with aunty afterwards.
2) Went to see a friend for tea and bacon sandwiches. (I know that was Wednesday!)
3) Phone calls from sons every night. They have been with their father for a week but are back soon - hoorah!
4) Getting some wood from B and Q for my brother. A strange pleasure but was worried because he had given me all the sizes over the phone that B and Q man would have to measure on the big cutty machine. Anyway, I got it right so brother kitchen construction can carry on.
5) Dad nearly better from cellulitis. (He's got gout now but that's OK in comparison).
6) Staying with OH, or OH here every night since last Friday! That's a record, I think.
7) Watching a repeat of Grand Designs with OH and he thinking one of the builders was speaking Welsh to Kevin McLeod. I had to translate for him - from Herefordshire into my accent! (Which can't be much different from Herefordshire).
8) Just eating Easter egg that OH got for me.
9) OH and his sons away until Monday but got quite a lot planned for this weekend and the end of son's school holiday.
10) Bit quiet and lonely until 6.30 when sons come back but I've got my chocolate, a big mug of tea and am about to watch Holby. :-)
Hope your Easter weekend goes well, MHagster - and that all other posters enjoy it as well.0 -

my 5
1. all the blossom on the damsons is fully out and has survived the snow.
2. been round to a friends for a cuppa and a chat. Got all the village gossip now.
3.been given a plant to grow on the windowsill.
4.We have another hen! Her name is Holly, so LBH has a friend now.
5.Weeds are emerging on the veg plot :rotfl: so its a good time to get planting seeds.
Thinking of you Mhags((((((((HUGS))))) to you and your DH.0 -
Yesterday's goodies:
1. A friend popped over to mow my lawn and do some digging
2. I cooked him and OH roast chicken which they had with roast carrots and salad for lunch, apparently it was scrumptious
3. There's a few meals' worth of chicken in the freezer for OH or other meat-eaters who may pop over
4. The carcass (sp?) and bones are in the slow cooker with some vegetables making up a stew or something, waste not, want not and all that!
5. Low spend day
6. Had an afternoon nap before going out in the evening
7. Went out for a lovely ladies' dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday, champagne at another chum's house to start then off to the restaurant
8. I'd already put money aside for the dinner, so it didn't 'cost' me anything last night, phew!0
