Morning everyone, my 5 for today are,
1. Just had gas delivered, full tank, love that feeling.:j
2. Slow cooker has just died overnight , lentil soup inspired by all the mentions on here, is now in pot on stove. OH  the leccy i'll be using .
Now any ideas of what one to buy:question:. The dearly departed one was 20++ years old .So i haven't look at them in a long long time.
3. No snow overnight, just frost, the place looks so so lovely. I have called with elderly ndn. to see if she needed anything from shops. She is a very interesting woman, great to chat to when she is in the mood. Threw some brown salt stuff down too.Now a wee path from her door to mine. Every little helps.
4. Making veggi burgers for tea tonight. Found a great forum on here about being a vegan, great info and recipes. :money:
5. Friend coming for coffee today, so Ollie's lemon driz cake has been requested. Now have my posh liners too, son thought i'd bought cake from shops.
Have a great os day everyone, enjoy the snow, it will be away soon. Love BTx0 -

Hi Bonty44, Here it is.....
110g butter/marg
170g self raising flour
170g caster sugar
4 tbsp of milk
grated rinf of 1 lemon
2 eggs
For Drizzel
juice of 1 lemon and 4 tablespoons of icing sugar.
Bake cake and spike all over it with cocktail stick. Apply syrup mix and leave to cool in tin.
I used a 2lb loaf tin greased and lined. Ollie told me about the cake tin liners from lakeland. I am now using those. I had never heard of them before.
Hope this makes sense. love BTx0 -
Hi, everyone, hope you are all keeping warm in the snow! :hello:

1. Getting a text from the boss to say that the office will be shut again today - yippee!
2. Delicious homemade curry and rice for tea.
3. Snuggling up in bed with a hot water bottle to beat the cold.
4. Watching some hunky men in my favourite TV show.
5. Reading a new instalment in the online story that I am following.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Hi there - my 5 for yesterday:
1 - Deciding in advance I wasn't going to make the school run - so had a lie in!
2 - Watching my 5 and 4 yr olds roll their first snowmen. We were in Cyprus last year so this is their first year of snow.
3 - Watching said children take on 3 teenagers / twenty somethings and them all playing snowballs nicely. Thanks to the teenagers (and their parents for doing SUCH a good job!)
4 - Hearing from another Mum who lives closer to the school than me that she'd not bothered taking her children to school - despite the head being mad and opening!!!
5 - Having a good excuse to have Horlicks and go to bed early! YUM
Todays 5
1 - the beautiful light created by the snow and frost
2 - watching my dogs play in the snow - think they must be half husky!
3 - Making next years Christmas wrapping paper with the children - Potato stamping
4 - Home made bread smells gorgeous
5 - the wish (possibly in vain!) that my children will play nicely today and NOT ARGUE!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all
- feels a little warmer here this morning, but that could be cos I'm sitting almost on top of the radiator .
house elf - hope you and your DS2 enjoyed the sledging as much as your dog enjoyed his walk.
Caterina - hope your DS is enjoying his Italian holiday. Just checked back and ampersand hasn't posted since Christmas Eve and 'last activity' is listed as Christmas Day - wonder if she's away or having IT probs. Hope all's well with her and her family.
savingforoz - wd to your boss for closing the office so early :j - sounds as though you're enjoying your unexpected 'time off'. Don't just tell us about these hunky men - please tell which ones and where WE can find them
.
Ladyhawk - sounds like you and your family had a great day out - good luck with the working from home.
bonty44 - be careful out there hun - I was pregnant during the 1980 big-freeze and found myself unable to go out after local kids made a HUGE glassy slide right past my front gate. My DD will be 30 in March - and she's STILL my baby. Wd you on using everyday situations to teach your DS basic maths routines :T.
Patchwork Quilt - wd on getting a discount to help sort your paperwork- wtg to the NHS Staff you came across - pity the people at the top aren't as good with the public.
ACEY - wd to your sons and their friends for making the most of their time in the snow :j. Good Luck with your ex-OH - I left mine after 17yrs but we DID reach our '25th' before the divorce was finalised due to him pratting about/refusing to co-operate - you continue to stand strong girl. Sorry to hear about the way he behaved with the boys in the car - poor boys must have felt awful seeing you standing there as their dad drove away with them - can't really offer any comfort except that they will KNOW who treats them right and will ultimately appreciate YOUR love and concern for their welfare no matter what he says/does.
nuttybabe - what a lovely neighbour you've got :T - fresh caught fish - not my thing BUT still the makings of a good family meal for you :j.
grandmasam - it's so lovely to hear of children playing nicely (and responsibly) in the snow - just wish they knew how to be like that here. wd on your home-made soup and bread .
mineallmine - wd on you using your local food recycling scheme - I'm loving ours :T - I think there's only plastic packaging going in our regular bin at the moment. Wish I could have found a use for the polystyrene packaging that came out of boxes over Christmas.
scotrae - good luck with your interview for today - get out there and 'WOW' them girl(the OS Cheerleaders!).
I want a baby - lol at your DS - he obviously has taste if Freddie's wonderful voice can calm him. Wd that you are so organised with an 8wk old baby in the house :T - I dread to think back to how I was when mine were that young
.
jollymummy - wd on the glass painting with your ds :T.
Broomstick - wtg on your Community Polar Bear :j AND his very creative hat :rotfl:. Hadn't thought about how much money folks were saving on petrol/parking charges - how brilliant :T. Good Luck with all your newly-discovered mending.
angeltreats - wd to you and OH on getting out to feed your neighbours cats and the 'hot choc and apricot&apple cake' sounds gorgeous .
niksyg - lol at your OH doing his 'Scott of the Antarctic' routine :rotfl:.
RainyWednesday - good luck with your viewings on Saturday - hope they're what you're looking for. wtg on your scarf - Tom Baker special by the sounds of it
.
bunny too - sorry to hear about your SC dying on you. You may find that they've come down in price since you bought yours. If you do manage to get another, try to make it one with high/med/low settings - mine is a fancy all-dancing job but NO adjustable settings
. Isn't it surprising what a difference those cake liners make to the presentation of the cakes
.
bonty44 - Hi hun - it's not my own recipe for the Lemon Drizzle Cake, but one that I came across on here. I've just been hunting for the recipe, so thanks for posting it bunny.
Mine for yesterday:
1. DS1 arrived and took dgd1 back home to her mother - she was beginning to get a bit fed up here as she only had her school uniform to wear and coudn't get out into the snow to play around.
2. Didn't get around to putting the diced turkey in the SC so did it later with onions, sliced peppers, mushrooms, tinned toms, dried mixed herbs and the remains of a bottle of Sweet Chilli Dipping Sauce thrown in for a bit of a kick. Was great served with pasta .
3. Settled down to watch Emmerdale and promptly fell asleep on the sofa as I was so warm under the fleece blanket.
all in all a very lazy day - even work was quiet.
4. OH is taking dgs2 to the pictures today - that'll give his parents a bit of a breather from him doing wrestling moves all over the living room .
Hope everybody is keeping safe and warm - please don't go out unless you really HAVE to and please check on your nearest neighbour if you do go out. speak again later - love Ollie xxx0 -
Morning all. Been AWOL for too long. Haven't had chance to catch up yet. Hope everyones OK. Mine for today
1. Working from home today. One of my jobs is mobile and I am constantly driving on these awful roads.
2. Nice cosy house. Started the winter in credit with my gas bill so feel able to put the heating on when required without worrying too much about it.
3. Going out in a bit for a long walk with the dog- nice sunny day.
4. Getting back into routine after the Christmas chaos. Much as I adore it I am always ready to get back to normal.
5. A clean tidy house with all bedding changed.
Love to all. X0 -
1. Being able to work from home as I feel snowed in, too scared to walk out on compacted snow/ice
2. DD being reasonably happy with not being at school, currently watching the Flintstones and chuckling
3. Our lovely friends/neighbours giving us scrumptious soup for lunch yesterday after we popped in to say hello, then DD and daughter making a lovely snowman in the garden, complete with carrot nose
4. DD looking after me last night after my back started hurting a lot, but luckily the painkillers and an early night have made me a lot better, just not going to step outside if I can help it!
5. a NSD yesterday and hopefully another today. I'd set myself a target of 10 for January, and am only at 2 so far, lol.
6. Being thankful for my full storecupboards
7. Lots of birds enjoying the bounty of the bird table and stale bread rolls I'm putting out for them. I really need to ask my parents for my old bird book from my childhood to start identifying more than just robins and bluet!ts! I used to know so many but have forgotten them now....0 -
Morning all,
Hope everyone is safe and well in thiss cold weather. Mine for yesterday:

3. Getting some thermals 1/2 price from Mr.T when we popped in on the way back from office
4. Made lovely carrot soup for lunch today as another work from home day
5. Lovely chicken wrapped in bacon for dinner and while the oven was on made some breakfast muffins
One more last one DD made the 5 minute chocolate cake in the microwave, she loved making it and the kitchen didn't suffer too much0
