Comments

  • 1. Washing all my patch work fabric stash and being careful when hanging them so that I don't need to to iron them (waste of electricity AND energy)

    2. Knowing that my stockroom is well stocked :)

    3. Having the time to crochet kitty blankets for cats protection league (and having to fight my own cats off them)

    4. Not had to turn the heating up in this "big freeze" yet, just wrapping up warm with lots of layers.

    5. Having identified we need a few "new" things, but due to our challenge, we can't buy them, I have found ways round it by making them myself from stuff I already have.

Hi:hello:I'm back. I had puter probs last weekend and got behind, since then I have been eyes down finishing off a cardigan so have still not caught up. My DD who is just a lurker on this thread has been complaining that I haven't been posting as she wanted to see what I put about going to her house on New Year's Day, so here goes.

    1) A lovely walk on the hills on New Year's Day and hot coffee brought by DD. I took the posh biscuits.

    2) Back to DD's for a lovely dinner of Beef Bourguignonne followed by Cranberry Pavlova. All cooked from scratch.

    3. Games with the children in the afternoon.

    4. Nice tea of salmon sandwiches on hm bread, posh cheese and oatcakes, Xmas cake, almond tarts and swiss shortcakes. Again all cooked from scratch. Good girl, must have had a wonderful mother!!!!

    5. The children kept us amused in the evening with charades, very imaginately presented

There you are DD, stick that in your CV.

Since then I have enjoyed hibernating, keeping warm and finishing my cardigan, also doing a bit of a makeover in the house.

    Bella.

  • Haven't posted for a few days ... not enough hours in the day to keep up with it all.
Here is my list for the last few days:

    1. Finally getting enough snow for a 'snow day' ... we took our metal tray to the park yesterday & all took turns sliding down on it - great fun - although my poor old bones are protesting this morning :rotfl:
    2. Freezer filling up nicely so that the second half of this month will have more defrosting and less cooking.
    3. Finally cracked a new technique in the out-of-my-comfort-zone knitting pattern I have been attempting.

    Morning all,

    Mine for yesterday/today
    1. Another work from home day as DD still had no school.
    2. DD and OH enjoying homemade soup when they both came cold and hungry
    3. Lovely HM cottage pie for dinner with YS custard tarts for pudding
    4. Walk to Mr.T and got lots of YS meat which is now all diced and bagged and in the freezer, plus preparing some for the slow cooker for today so just needed to throw it in this morning
    5. Walking to work this morning and not taking the bus, plus I didn't fall over.

Scotrae - good look with your interview today

    Morning all. My recent blessings,
    1. Right now - toasting in front of the fire with the dog.
    2. DH doing the ironing last night (without being asked!!!!!)
    3. 'Proper' baked potatoes (done in the oven for once, NOT in the microwave).
    4. An unexpected pay rise from a lady I work for.
    5. Glass of red wine and watching The Holiday with DH. Kids in bed.
Thats all for now. Love to all. X

Still struggling with my internet connection - so not able to post properly.

Wd to all who are managing to be able to work from home - :T.

Lots of nsd's :j, even if due to not being able to get out to the shops ;).

Great to see that due to resourcefulness and careful mealplanning we're all able to cope during the bad weather.

Wtg to everybody for 'looking out for' neighbours and local wildlife - 'passing it on' is a great philosophy :j.

HSblinky_ani_bearhugs.gif to all who are poorly or worried about people close to them.

Congrats to all who have felt a sense of achievement - thinking especially of house elf and her students :T - but also of everybody who has discovered how well organised they've become and are proud of being able to care for their family/loved ones with warmth and nutritious food while the country is shivering under a blanket of snow/ice.

Remembering some of our posters that we haven't seen for a while - where are you Ampersand? Hope it's only internet probs that's keeping them from us right now.

I'll post my own pleasures later (and just wait till you hear about my exploits with my work mobile phone ...........) - stay warm - love Ollie xxx

Evening everyone, hope you are all warm and toasty !

Walked to the surgery this morning as i was too frightened to drive because we have an icerink pretending to be a road! I was not looking forward to the results ,however, everything on the up!so...

    # so grateful for the good news at the docs, it has made my day,
#started my car when i got home and spent 15/20 mins just sat there with the radio on and reading the paper... and no, i dont care how daft it looked! [although my neighbors did keep peering out the window  ]
    # sat and read a book this afternoon with hot choc and cake, oh go on ...spoil me :D
    # sorted some of my packets of seeds ready for sowing at the beginning of feb in the greenhouse, the promise of food held in a tiny seed, magic isnt it!
    # a long soaky bath later with some smellies from christmas,

    sleep well all
