    Evening all

Cant believe so many of you have snow days. Our schools appear not to shut for anything!!!!!

    Mine for today -

1 A quiet morning in toddler group so gave us the chance for a gossip and to get organised and sort out how many spare places there are so we can invite more families to join us. I cant wait - hopefully there will be lots more kids to do painting with!

2 Bumping into a friend and having a quick catch up before rushing to pick dd up from nursery.

3 Dh working from home so I could leave dd and ds2 at home whilst i picked ds1 up so we got so 'ice skate' home together!

4 Hot choc after the school run with the kids

5 After reading on one of the threads about putting stilton in a cheesy pasta bake i tried it and it was the best pasta bake i have ever made and everyone loved it. Now i know what to do if i ever have stilton left over again!

Hope you are all keeping warm.

Good evening everyone! I would have posted earlier, but had to prise my DD off Kidzui. Doesn't normally stay up late, usually in bed by 7.30pm for school days, but had been good. :A

    Mine for today were:

    1. Getting up extra early, so beef casserole was put on low setting in SC rather than high. Made me feel good being so organised.

    2. Not having to take DD to school, as its inaccessible. She really wanted to go, but it did her good having a chill out day. She's only 5, and its a big thing going to school full time, after having time off at christmas.

    3. Getting the bed linen done, after christmas.

    4. My DS saying a new word to me "mine", when he took a confiscated biro out of my back pocket.

    5. Getting a belated christmas present from my sister. The kids got some lovely Orchard Toys jigsaw puzzles, and we got Levi Roots 'Caribbean Food Made Easy'.

    Needless to say, I'm delighted.
  • 1. My two eldest kiddywinks are still off school, they had a great time playing in the garden today.

    2. The sunshine brought out loads of birds to my garden, foraging for food, must get some more seed for them.

    3. Watch my youngest wolf down a portion of HM leftover shepherd's pie that had been made with leftover bits of a leg of lamb, he loved it .

    4. Managed to knock together a pasta meal with a couple of frozen salmon fillets, thank goodness for my moderate storecupboard.

    5. Bought 10 packets of seeds fo £2.45 after checking out the Greenfingers board.

Let's see, my 5 for today:

    1. Another day off work, snug and warm at home with the cats.

    2. Delicious spicy tofu, with tomatoes, garlic and onions, with rice and veg for tea. Yum and double yum!

    3. Taking time to sleep in and recharge my batteries.

    4. Cuddles with my foster cats and keeping them warm and snug as well.

    5. Getting my annual cash back on my credit card - just over £71! :T

Keep warm and have fun, everyone!

    Evening all,

Not too many pleasures today... one of my kitties is not well and I really need to take him to the vet :( I hope to get an appointment for tomorrow evening.

My one big pleasure was that my parents flight was cancelled last night (certainly NOT a pleasure for them at all... in fact it sounds like pure hell...) but it means they get to stay 3 more days. I had to leave early from work to rescue them from T5 at Heathrow and then take to to my youngest brothers house, before heading home to nurse Toupe. All in all about a 5 hour round trip!

I also had to pop into Asda to get them the essentials as BA won't let them have the luggage back until they get to Johannesburg on Monday!! They were so touched that I went to the effort... but it really was a pleasure.

    So I guess mine are:

    1) my parents still being here this weekend
    2) being able to do something nice for them
    3) the furbabes being happy to see me home, even if they just wanted to be fed
    4) The roads being ice and snow free all day
    5) Severly red penning the paper that our trading controller wrote (always good to show senior management that you know what you are talking about!)
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
  • Hello all, hope you are all okay in the snow :snow_laug

Sparrer, thanks for thinking of scarfwatch - I'm hoping to finally get it finished for a trip to the coast next weekend :) I recommend knitting, this is the first thing I've ever made but I've really enjoyed it

1 - warming up the house by cooking a jacket spud in the oven for lunch instead of putting on the heating. Very OS :rotfl:

2 - dyeing my hair - it is now 'black cherry'. Nice warm tone for the winter

3 - enjoying doing my knitting

4 - kedgeree for tea made with whoopsied smoked trout

5 -enjoying a real home pamper in the bath after sorting out all my toiletries for the 'no new toiletries challenge'. Could believe what scrubs, potions and lotions I found. Now feeling throughly pampered :D

Heres mine for the last few days - been scraping around cos it seems to have been same old-same old!

    1) managing to walk to work without slipping over - thank god for me wellies:rotfl:

    2) finding that people seem to smile and talk to you more when the weather is bad, had loads of 'chats' with people on my way to work

    3) feeling really thankful that our landlord replaced our boiler just before xmas, it really struggled last winter and broke down a couple of times, aparently the LA didn't tell him how bad it was and he came round to tell us we were having a new window and OH asked if LA had told him about the boiler and they hadn't, week later we got a new one, lovely landlord :D

    4) DD ringing and telling me they have date for christening and can I make cakes

    5) DD ringing tonight and asking me if I can crochet bonnet and booties to go with christening gown  am searching the net looking for patterns now (can't seem to find any that match, only for tiny babes) have to keep searching.....I have till March

Hoping that everyone is keeping safe and warm at the moment xx
whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

    Stopped smoking 20:30 28/09/11 :D

    1. Kitting my boys out for school and seeing them off with DH first thing.
    2. Venturing out very tentatively to the hairdressers. Poor things have had most of their customers cancel this week and the main road was clear enough. I haven't had my hair cut for months and can't keep it hidden under a woolly hat on for tomorrow's interview!
    3. Overhearing that the lady in the beauty salon above the hairdressers had all of yesterday's customers and most of today's cancel, so using the last of my Christmas money to get a manicure and my eyebrows waxed. Quite a new experience for me but along with the haircut it took about 15 years off me, so gave me a nice little boost.
    4. Going to a supermarket on the way back. Christmas McVities slices and mince pies now 75% off with pretty long dates on them so I finally treated DH to a pack. I bought some rubber gloves too, aiming to look after these nails til next week's interview! Carefully sticking to a £100 grocery budget for the month but I wanted to make sure I had enough wraps and bread in the freezer for any more snow-not-school days!
    5. DH coming home relatively early (before 6) and preparing chilli beef with salad and wraps.
    6. Watching footage of drivers in nice cars, 4WDs and tractors slipping and sliding on the snowy roads and thanking my lucky stars that I didn't meet the same crashing fate today. My interview isn't til lunchtime tomorrow so hopefully the roads will be clear-ish by then.

Ollie - thanks so much for the cheerleaders and good wishes!

My five pleasures for Thursday :snow_grin

    1. Loving the snow-reflected sunlight in the mornings. It seems so bright and clear and happy.

    2. Today's project which kept DS2 busy for a big chunk of the morning and late afternoon has been igloo building, proper style with snow 'bricks' formed and compacted in one of our recycling boxes and tipped out. I think they are hoping to finish it tomorrow. It looks really professional.

    3. Heated up soya and veg stew with fried up mash from last night's supper for lunch, and then roasted root veggies with veg sausages for supper - very tummy filling food.

    4. Sorted my knitting needles out. Many of them belonged to my gran who died 25? years ago and it's nice to still be using things she used.

    5. Mega-huge mug of hot chocolate tonight. Decided to treat myself.

Sleep well and keep warm everyone

    B xxx

edited to add a PS: scotrae - hope the interview goes really well!

Evening everyone, my 5 for today are.

    1. Got a great bargain of the shop but don't drop board. I wear celtic house boots instead of slippers. I have very cold feet and find these keep my feet and legs toastie. The pair that i have had for the last 10 years finally died 2 weeks ago, really missing them. Having bought them in pre mse days, i have been trying to justify spending the money to replace them:eek: So ordered a pair that are so similar for £35. I'm just so pleased.:money:

    2. Even with above spend still on track for nsd's for the month.:j

    3. Spent a few hours reading on mse, really enjoyed reading all the posts.
peeps are so kind to share.:A

    4. Have decided to change to sky when contract is up. March phone and Sept for bb.Still not over shock of how much i paid in 09.

    5. Being invited out for Sunday lunch, so so looking forward to this.

Have a great os day, hugs to all who need them. Big wave to all the lurkers and occassional posters.
I have just found out that by clicking on the button, you can find out who has thanked you for the post. LoveBTx
