4. Giving blood, its my 11th donation and Im only 24 so I feel very proud of myself (even if I do say so myself). Please if you have ever thought about doing it, do it this year and help save lives.
Well done Odette. You are so so right. You're an :A
1. Finding my phone. Not very OS but I was beginning to worry sick, was in full sulk mode and then had a thought where it might be and there it was.
2. Lots of decluttering. I think clearing 300 things a month might be required all year! (hides....)
3. Finding out that a product bought at a charity shop (all new and sealed) is some posh expensive brand!
4. Home made bolog and pasta tonight.
5. That's all.
Come on Reverbe and ampersand, looking forward to hearing about your antics in the coming days. :ADeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Here are my pleasures for today
1 Telling my Boss at work about Bump and him being very excited and happy for me
2 Picking DS1 and DS2 up from their first day back at schools and getting huge cuddles from them
3 Making a chilli with leftover roast beef from Sunday - absolutely delicious!
4 Catching up with my parents who have been away for 1 1/2 months on holiday
5 Knowing that all the schools in the area are closed tomorrow so I've got to stay at home with DS1 and DS2 YIPEE, snowball fights all the way!0 -

2. Taking down all the Xmas decs and scoffing the Christmas tree chocs whilst watching Santa Claus with DS.
3. DH coming home from work early cos of snow - so glad he's safe!
4. Making a lovely spag bol for tea.
5. Playing in the snow

Will be rather hard to think of 5 today...
On Mondays and Tuesdays the ex takes the boys to school then they go after school to his house for tea. I volunteer at school all day on Tuesdays...
I took them out to his car as normal and he drove to school. It was just starting to snow as they left. 10 minutes later, I drove to school and the weather was awful! When I got there, the school shut which meant I should take the boys home. However, I found them already in his car, he did a bit of shouting and refused to let them out and drove off with them. Obviously, I couldn't chase after him in my car (not in 5 inches of snow and I'm not really that sort of driver!) So I drove home, getting stuck on the hill outside the village.
Cue a phone call from the ex saying he had got stuck THREE MILES outside his village and they had had to walk to his flat. He said he would phone his brother to give the boys a lift back and to expect them at 1pm or so. (Bearing in mind it was only 10am by this point).
I was not impressed, watching them be driven away is the closest to child abduction I ever want to get. Solicitor is not impressed either. Of course, they came back at 1.30 (not even at 1 when he said!) safe and well but looking rather stressed as they knew something untoward had happened. Oh, and a snowplough and A GRITTER (had forgotten what they looked like!) went past in the end so I was able to rescue my car.
5 for today!
1) School being closed so the boys getting an extra day of holiday.
2) Several phone calls with my sister, not least in the 4 hours when I wondered when the boys were coming back - she calmed me down.
3) A long snowball fight with 3 of next door's boys late this afternoon.
4) Putting in a Tesco order, we are nearly out of everything!
5) Speaking to a neighbour 2 doors up through her bedroom window! I was shovelling snow off the pavement so she leaned through for a chat.
6) Going to go to bed just now with a hot water bottle, big cat (Joey) and watch Holby City on iplayer.
School is closed tomorrow so hoping for another day of snowmen and snowball fighting but without this morning's upset.

Evening everybody  - flipping heck what a lot of snow we've had today.
My internet connection was still dodgy this morning - couldn't get it to stay connected for more than a few minutes at a time.
No way I can catch up with all the many pleasures from the past couple of days - you've all been so busy :T.
Great to see you again Reverbe - and hoping that you get some positive news soon.
Good to see that everybody is involved in decluttering, double-checking spending for possible savings, joining grocery threads, meal-planning, enjoying as many nsd's as possible, using up instead of throwing out etc - the 'money-men' must really hate us all :j:j.
Some pleasures from the past couple of days for me:
1. Yesterday was the first proper day back after the holidays - and all tenants were well and accounted for.
2. Major catch-up with laundry and all dried on airers/radiator rails :j.
3. Home-made Leek and Potato Soup for evening meal with whoopsied Carrot and Pumpkin Rolls .
4. Well-needed early night with a fresh book to read and a really good night's sleep.
5. Porridge with honey and wholemeal toast for brekkie this morning.
6. Panic phone call from DD this morning as dgd1 (11yrs) was stuck on a bus in snow and bad traffic conditions on her way to school and scared she was going to be late. I tried to ring the school to let them know and got a message inviting me to 'leave a message'. It took 1hr and 25mins to travel the 2 mile journey. When she got there all the kids were walking towards her as the school was closed . Back at the bus stop, all the buses had been stopped due to an accident/road conditions and no taxis at the taxi rank. She walked to Tescos to get out of the cold and I managed to speak to her and phoned a local taxi firm that I use regularly. It took them 2 hours to get a car to her and deliver her to me. Just so pleased that I work from home and was available to get the problem sorted out.
7. Special request from dgd1 - fried egg butties for lunch today.
8. This week's bin collection got cancelled - I'd struggled to put them out at 7.00am  - was even harder to bring them back in again. Now due on Monday - wouldn't like to think how full my 'food waste caddy' will be by then with peelings etc.
9. By later afternoon we had 6ins of snow here (far more than before Christmas) and DS2 arrived with dgs2 (8yrs) to be minded while he visited one of his friends. Luckily the two children played well together and watched 'The Snowman' and played 'Lucky Ducks'.
10. Champ, Pork and Apple Sausages and braised cabbage for evening meal tonight.
11. Baked a Banana and Walnut Loaf with three really manky bananas - nicely cooled enough to wrap in greaseproof and go in the cake tin now.
12. Taking some diced Turkey out of the freezer for tomorrow evening - it can go in the slow cooker for a casserole to serve with pasta and garlic bread.
I hope everybody is keeping warm and well at the moment.and
for everybody who need them for whatever reason. Hopefully I'll be able to post properly in the morning - love Ollie xxx

Hugs to everyone this snowy night.
My five pleasures for Tuesday:
1. We got our veggiebox this morning - thank goodness our delivery is Tuesday not Wednesday. Don't think many drivers will be on the roads in our bit of the Cotswolds tomorrow.
2. Following the weather forecast and deciding to do the weekly shop that I'd planned for Wednesday today instead so we got to Mr S and back as the snow began to fall heavily.
3. We were under budget so I've added 25p more to the emergency tin and put two £1 coins to one side to put into the £365 pot for the next couple of days.
4. Getting a Book People delivery of stuff in the sale which I'd ordered just after Christmas - shared the order wtih my sister to avoid postage costs (and spent some points too so got one book free). Am particularly pleased with the DK Stitch Dictionary which will keep me busy all year - just as well since this is the last book order I'll be getting for a looong time!
5. DS1 & DS2 being so excited by the snow and getting to play with the other children in the close. I can see tomorrow mostly being spent with them outdoors and me snuggled inside.
Keep warm and safe,
B xxx0 -
Where is the snow
. Waited and waited and all we got was a smattering which barely covered the garden before it stopped again. Not that I mind, can't stand the stuff. I don't think the local children will be impressed, it's really not enough to justify closing any schools here . I feel for all of you who have to go to work though, please be careful and only go if you know it's really safe
My Five..
1. Not at all OS but after such heavy frosts these past few days I've decided I never want to be cold again and had the heating on low ALL DAY
2. Got in all the shopping I'll need in prep for being snowed in, even if we haven't had more that 1cm :rotfl:
3. Much as my deccies have been admired this year I'm secretly pleased that 12th night is here at last and I can take them down in the morning
4. Finished stitching the linings for the curtains, just have to attach them now. I unpicked a duvet cover bought in the charity shop for £2 and it's just the right size. The curtains do have a bonded lining but the extra layer will give it more substance
5. Laptop is now up and running and it's soooo good to have it back. Thanks to it breaking down 5 days before the guarantee ran out it didn't cost anything to have repaired :T
Night night all, God bless, and please be careful

ps oops, I spoke too soon. Just looked out of the window before settling down for the night and it's arrived with a vengeance! :snow_grin0 -
Hi all
Fell asleep on the sofa yesterday evening .... tut tut and am now wide awake .... !
Yesterdays for me are :
1. Being warm.....like Sparrer above its not very OS but left my heating on low today too after the house taking forever to warm up when the heating comes on at 5pm, it was so nice to come home from work and be warm!
2. Shopping at Lidls and finding that the orange juice I like is cheaper at the moment so I dont feel guilty buying it, also half price Muller yoghurt 6 packs.
3. Getting all my work deliveries done , a nice feeling and if the snow that was promised here arrived and I was unable to work today I would have known that I was totoally up to date anyway. Was kind of looking forward to the snow that was forecast for here but it looks like it might have bypassed us....
4. Pate on toast for tea to save wasting it ..... I will get this HUGE block of pate eaten up .....
5. Having trouble thinking of another but I guess I should be grateful that as the ground was so hard and frosty the dogs arrived back from our walk today nice and clean , I have 2 cocker spaniels and they just seem to attract mud/dirt and whatever!
Take care everyone, keep safe. x0 -
Good morning all,
Mine for today (even though it is only 4.35am) :eek: are;
1) the early morning peace and quiet whilst the kids are in bed, it keeps me sane!
2)Being up early enough that the milk has just been delivered so i can fetch it in before it freezes :rotfl:
3) The schools being closed so i can have another day spent with my children having a fun filled snow day in the garden that costs nothing.
4)Got the slow cooker on with a joint of beef, any excuse in this weather to eat creamy mashed spuds.
5) with the ground being frozen i dont need to worry for a few days that my escapologist bunnies will dig for freedom out of their run leaving me having to spend the best part of a week to catch them again:TI will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)
Card #2 £6. I will not be skint at Chistmas this year!
Total £560 -
hello all, hope you are okay in the snow
Mine for yesterday
1 - starting making the plans to move in to a flat of my own. Phoning letting agents in a couple of hours. I feel this is the start of my new life
2 - homemade lentil and vegetable soup for lunch
3 - a rather economical pasta bean and butternut squash bake for tea with enough in the fridge for lunch today
4 - whoopsied smoked trout and black pudding for teas for the rest of the week
5 - glad my friends got to and from the football safely last night:beer:0
