    1. Delicious tofu and mushroom savoury loaf for tea with loads of veg and garlic gravy. Absolutely scrumlicious.

That sounds delicious savingforoz, do you have a recipe?

I'll chuck in a couple while im here again.

    1. Nearly clearing all of my bf's washing that has built up into two hampers, using half the washing stuff he would and with a splash of soda crystals. Dear me, he is a naughty boy :naughty:.

    2. Well seasoned plain brown rice for lunch, which had been lurking around there for ages and was delicious.

    3. Seeing bf for lunch and squeazing some 'special' time in before he rushed back to work. Free endorphins, very os.:rotfl:

    4. Giving blood, its my 11th donation and Im only 24 so I feel very proud of myself (even if I do say so myself). Please if you have ever thought about doing it, do it this year and help save lives.

    5. The price of lidl eggs, 97p for ten! Im a bit dubious but it said they were free range.

I hope everyone is well and not stuck in snow - none here in warm London :D
Aim - BUYING A HOUSE  by November 2013!

    Hi all

Kittikins, the lentil and barley soup was so creamy because it has been left to overcook (happy accident!) but it was such a success, dressed with olive oil, fried garlic and chopped chilli, everybody loved it.

Savingforoz, thank you for mentioning tofu, that's reminded me I have a block in the fridge that needs cooking, will be sauteed with rescued vegetables (the stuff that lurks at the back of my fridge before the next veg delivery) and eaten with rice.

Now, today I am really embarrassed, with so much to do at home and work I just could not drag myself out of bed until 1pm  because I was reading the latest Grisham novel (The Associate) and just could not put it down until I had finished it. Feeling really ashamed of myself, with DH working so hard and me taking advantage of my semi-lady-of-leisure position! I won't be able to do anything domestic today because I have to put in at least 3 hours of paid work and then cook dinner. Tut-tut to myself...

Here are my pleasures, however, one of them from last night:

1 - Last night DH and I started the ballroom dancing lessons I enrolled us for and had a great time.

2 - Today, even though feeling embarrassed about it, it was an absolute pleasure to laze in bed until 1pm with a great thriller.

3 - DD and I shared the leftover lentil and barley soup for lunch, stretched with some water, frozen peas and broken spaghetti.

4 - The house is in relatively tidy condition and even with my slovenly behaviour of today it does not need heavy work, so I am probably going to forgive myself and be done with it!

5 - Treated myself to pudding, 2 small packets of sesame crunch sticks.

Now, work! Have a good rest of the day everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Mine for the last few days are:

Having some HM chicken soup. Not quite as good as I expected it to be but still a nice warm lunch all the same :)

Going for a walk with H, DS and DD in the lovely snowy weather over some local fields.

Loving the fact that H booked this week off and therefore doesn't have to struggle to get to and from work in this weather. He would have missed playing with the kids in the snow and the walk today had he been in work.

House is reasonably tidy. Am trying to stick to motto of 2010 being the year we pick up after ourselves (or should I say I pick up after everyone else?!!!) anyway it's slightly tidier, just need to actually get some cleaning done now!

Sat and cut up with pinking shears all my Christmas cards to be reused as gift tags for next Christmas. A nice job done whilst watching a bit of TV, dining table now slightly less cluttered now these have been moved.

Hope you are all warm and safe in this weather. Have a good day everyone.
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks

  • My first time in here, all your Os pleasures have been inspiring me, so here are todays for me:

    - Using Stardrops for the first time, making my hob and oven doors sparkle like new and without using the horrible smelly chemicals I usually did.

    - Washing out 2 old jam jars for when I am brave enough to try making my own.

    - Wrapping DD in a big blanket and standing in the garden, so that she could see her first ever falling snow (And watching the dog running around trying to eat snowflakes!)

    - using my slow cooker to make a fish stewy thing for tea, recipe is from my new slow cooker cook book I bought in the sales.

    - Later I will be having a hot shower, getting in my new pajamas (bought in the sales, of course!) and cuddling up on the sofa to read my book.

    Savoury Tofu Loaf
    substitute for 2 eggs
    1 tablespoon soy sauce
    1 box silken tofu (350 g)
    3/4 cup chopped nuts
    1 1/2 cups chopped onion
    2/4 cup chopped celery
    2 cups chopped mushrooms
oregano, basil & ground black pepper
1 1/2 cups oats whizzed in a food processor

Mix egg substitute, soy sauce, tofu together in blender. Add chopped nuts & blend until smooth.
Saut! vegetables until onions are transparent (add other diced veggies if you wish - ie peppers, carrots, etc). Add herbs/spices while vegetables are frying.
Mix blender ingredients, cooked vegetables & whizzed oats together in a large bowl.
Press into a greased loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees F. for 45 minutes. Let cool slightly. Turn loaf out and slice.

I just used plenty of cooked mushrooms instead of the celery.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

    Evening all

I forgot today, got caught up on a little crochet challange!! Anyhoo

1 Batch cooking today. Got 4 family meals of shepherds pie in freezer and 4 family meals of bolognaise in freezer plus we had spagetti bolognaise for tea.

2 Popped onto flylady thread and managed to sort through most of my make up in the bedroom! I know its not much but something i have been putting off but now its done. Hopefully next week I can get a little more de-cluttered in bedroom.

3 making chocolate bread! Bad!!!!! Used some of it for bread and butter pudding after tea and will have it toasted loaded with butter in the morning! Cant wait.

4 I made a furry crochet mouse. with feathered wool! that was a challenge and it looks good!

5 Snowed all day and it looked really pretty. Best thing was that I did not leave the house!!! :)

Hope you all have a good evening. back to my crochet.

Here are my pleasures for the day:

    1) Trimming my fringe myself. I didn't have to pay the hairdresser to get my untidy fringe sorted out, and I'm tempted to have a go at taking the ends off my longish hair too now :D
    2) Spending some good quality time with my family and having a lovely steak pie with mash and gravy!
    3) DH finding a lovely soft fluffy fleece in Tescadiddles. mmm, cuddly...
    4) The house being warm, as opposed to outside being, well, cold.
    5) Taking the leftover steak pie home as a gift from Mum. Lunch tomorrow, is steak pie :D (and I have some instant mash in my drawer at work. mmmm)

Have a good evening, everyone (((hugs))) DH is currently sorting out all the energy saving bulbs we have into a little box as I let the cupboard get a little bit cluttered. He's doing a bit of a stock take there and discovered some of the bulbs we bought when we moved house! I just remembered my friend got me a subscription of Easy Cook as a Christmas present and I ought to be getting the first one soon. Hope so, anyway! I've also gone nearly 2 days without drinking fizzy pop - it would have been more, but Mum offered me a rum and coke to warm me up. :) I feel proud of myself. :)

8am - DH took the boys to school on his way to work to save me from de-icing my car. It started snowing just as they drove off but it didn't look like much.

Getting an early email saying I've got an interview for a job I'd applied for on Christmas Eve. Two interviews to start this year off with - things are looking up.

11am - gridlock all around the city and treacherous roads all round the county. Sons' school officially advising parents to head in and get children asap - and D, DH insisted on covering this ... which meant that it was him not I who got stuck in 2 hours of traffic and walking through a snowy city to get the boys.

Watching my boys joining all the other children out in the snow as soon as they got out of the car. Great fun! (I'd asked some of their friends earlier to leave them some untrodden snow on our driveway, for when they got home.)

DH returned and announced that he'd closed his office down for the day, so I served him the leek and potato soup I made yesterday - and he loved it. (Then he disappeared to continue working upstairs.)

Making hot chocolate, offering biscuits and warming gloves for the children playing outside. (Now I wish I'd got another gallon of milk in!)

Roast tea - on a Tuesday! Half price Organic British lamb from the freezer. And a 99p strudel with whoopsied custard. We cut back on Sunday roasts through December and were away last weekend so this made up for those that we'd missed out on. Seeing my sons tucking in was a real pleasure! (DS1 couldn't believe his luck!)

It looks as though my boys will be home tomorrow, possibly DH too. I'm not going to get much prep done for this Friday's interview.

I hope you're all keeping safe and dry, wherever you are.

Brrr! Here are mine for today:_

    1) being inside in the warm on a cold day - having got the boiler back working again! fingers crossed it stays that way!

    2) Buying a value ceramic fan heater (down to £14.99 from £18.99) last one left in the shop! Now if the heating goes again we have something to take the chill off.

    3) A slowcooker full of hm spicy lentil soup. Recipe from a poster on this site and it made loads, so a couple of days supply.

    4) Not rushing out to panic buy as I now have a good store cupboard to hand. Making a granary loaf and a red onion and olive foccacia bread from those stores.

    5) Settling down under a duvet with my latest Miss Read and a mug of hot choc!
