Afternoon Ladies and Gents,
1. Yellow stickered almond crossiant for breakfast, mmmm, very bad:rolleyes: but very delicious.
2. Putting away washing and realising how lovely it smelt, made me smile since bf had done it.
3. For lunch had my favourite, tuna sandwich, on homemade bread, with a homemade scone for after, with homemade rasberry and lime jam from Wales; oh my gosh that stuff is delicious, the lime gives softens the rasberry somewhat...anyone ever heard any recipies? I would go and try it myself but the lime:rasberry ratio worries me.
4. Doing about 5 loads of washing today and having a 'date' with my bf at the laundrette tonight.
5. Using up whats in the fridge tonight; pizza (let that one slide as bf picked it out and was paying..) with spinach and pepper salad, extra spinach for me, an anemic veggie.
Hope everyones having a nice day.Aim - BUYING A HOUSE  by November 2013!Saved = 100% on 03/07/12 :j0 -
Afternoon all,
Been a while since I visited OS board, have fallen off the wagon a bit, I'll admit! Hoping to get back aboard properly in 2010. My five pleasures for today:
1. Planning a just-before-closing trip to the supermarket for some reduced goodies.
2. A mug of spiced hot chocolate, made properly with hot milk and a couple of squares of dark chocolate (naughty!)
3. Clearing a space on my coffee table in order to set up a trio of berry-scented tea lights, which make the room look all flickery and magical.
4. Taking down all my Christmas cards and sorting them into keep, tag, and recycle piles.
5. Not switching the TV or heating on at all and not missing it; been looking out at the lovely clean white snow and playing with the cat instead.
Hope all are well."All cruelty springs from weakness" - Lucius Annaeus SenecaPersonal pronouns are they/them/their, please.
I'm intolerant of wheat, citrus, grapes, grape products and dried vine fruits, tomato, and beetroot, and I am also somewhat caffeine sensitive.0 -
Dear all
Hope you have all had a lovely day! Am posting earlier in the hope that I won't get sidetracked later on when working through my 'to do' list!
Here are my five for today:
1 Having my 21 week scan and seeing Bump again; really clear photos of nose and hands which is cute! Sonographer seemed pretty happy with everything he saw, so that's a relief!
2 Showing scan pictures to DS1 and DS2 who, up until today, obviously just thought I was fat! I was a bit worried about how they would react but they are SO excited and can't wait to meet their little sibling. They've decided which photo they're taking in to school tomorrow so heaven help their teacher who is going to be getting a blow-by-blow account of my pregnancy for the next 20 weeks ...
3 Taking DS2 out just me and him to Gymnastics, and seeing how confident and competent he is! He's so grown up now but still loves a snuggle
4 Making my own falafel for lunch ... absolutely scrummy! This has been a major craving so I'm glad I've converted my two into all things chick-pea based
5 DS1 is currently singing to Bump - they've been playing Bump music today (not sure of their choice of Queen, however ...)0 -
Hi all
Cold and lovely day today, lots of pleasures so far:
1 - Long-ish lie-in and breakfast in bed courtesy of DH (he made porridge and brought me a bowl upstairs, the treasure!).
2 - Even though I had felt a bit poorly I managed to make it to the aerobics class. Only stayed half the time but it was good enough to mobilise myself and make me feel better for the rest of the day.
3 - Enrolled DH and myself in the Ballroom dance class starting tonight, for 6 weeks - wish me luck!
4 - Dentist check-up, no fillings to be done, YIPPEE!
5 - Made homemade scones with self-raising white flour (normally I make brown soda scones) so these were a rare treat and went down very well with the family.
6 - DD's BF just came in and brought a lot of homemade chocolates (he is a trainee patisserie chef and likes to experiment!) and a lovely loaf of bread from the shop where he works - he is allowed to take any unsold bread so lately I haven't really needed to do any baking because of all the exceptionally good quality bread he brings us!
7 - Put red lentils and barley to cook in the pressure cooker earlier, forgot all about them and when I remembered, 2 hours later, instead of a burned mess I found a lovely gloopy cream of lentil and barley soup! All it needs now is a bit of flavouring and a few chopped cooked leeks to top it, and dinner will be ready!
8 - Someone who I doulaed for her first baby wants me to doula for her second one, due on 4th February! I declined but suggested my friend and colleague and I shall be "back up". Goodness, even now that I have stopped all the doula jobs, the jobs keep chasing me!
Edited to add 9 - While out and about this morning after aerobics I popped into a shop that had a fav sale of really nice clothes and shoes, tried a couple of things and then reminded myself that I am trying to reduce, not add to, my possession and I resisted the temptation. Feeling proud of myself!
Have a great evening everybody, I shall report on the ballroom dance tomorrow. xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Savingforoz thats sweet of you. I guess I am fine but I dont seem to be finding much pleasure even in the small things lately. Suppose it is a stress thing or related to the situations I'm in and my flatmate is in(which has a knockon to me directly). I normally love Christmas and have been getting more into it and it's true spirit the last few years but didnt seem to enjoy the same things I used to.
New Year's Eve was lovely tho. Went to a mate of my flatmates and was there til 4 after all the drunken fools had gone home just after 12 and apparently according to B he said his wife said the best part of the whole evening was having a chat in the kitchen with me after with wine, baileys and coffee etc while them 2 played computer games. Really enjoyed it tho it was quiet as I don't get hammered and dance like the 2 couples wives and dont really normally have anyone to talk to cept the youngest daughter. The older teen girl was there too as she split up with her bf of many years and her mates all had plans which was upsetting for her esp as she missed her grandad but we managed to help her make the best of it.
I suppose it is hard when you know life is going to get even worse to celebrate.. But I have at least been making certain to try and find the pleasures even if they are not having their normal effect and keep up on here. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -

Ahhh....back
Five for today would be-- Out on the beach for a nice long walk with the pooch who is feeling much better, thank you for your good wishes.
- 2 books from the library that BH picked out when he was there, wasn't meant to get anything for me so a lovely surprise!
- Making (ok, and eating!!) HM chocolate chip cookies using some of the excess choccy we received over Christmas.
- The park is now totally empty except for 'us' :j maybe not really 'OS', but it is the most wonderful feeling and FREE.
- Will be snuggling up tonight under a duvet in the lounge to watch a movie, rather than turning up the CH.

Here are my five for the day:
1) Managing to get up at 5:30am for work with the alarm clock without oversleeping
2) Leftovers transformed into our favourite pasta bake.
3) Not snacking as much as I usually do at work.
4) Not having a tin of pop today! I normally have at least one *guilty look*
5) Planning to cuddle up on the sofa under a blanket with DH while watching TV tonight.
6) Another NSD!
7) Rather than buying any old pair of wellies I can find, I'm going to look for the best price I can find.
8) Going through old cookbooks and finding recipes.
9) The sunshine. Beautiful.
10) Not falling over on the ice
Take care, everyone. I haven't got much time to post tonight, so (((hugs))) to everyone and I'm thinking of you all.

Heres my five for today
1) Was first day back at work and wasn't looking forward to it but got up fine and went off okay.
2) Weighed myself after Christmas (and for a few months before) and was about 4lb less than expected so well pleased and spurred on to watch what I'm eating more carefully and drop a few pounds.
3) On that front boiled some eggs and took one to work and had some porridge with skimmed milk.
4) Made a huge pan of home made vegetable soup using stir fry veg bag and left over roasted parsnips, sweet potato and roast potato. Best I've made for ages.
5) Made dough in BM and then put in oven for rolls (never done this before) and they look brilliant. I'm about to take these out in a minute and have them with the soup and the rest of the roast beef from yesterday as hot beef butts.GC Jan £318/£350, Feb £221.84/£300, Mar £200.00/£250 Apr £201.05/£200 May £199.61/£200 June £17.25/£200
