I've just done a longish catch up and have been struck by the number of different things people have to be pleased about - it's really lovely. Made me smile (again :D).

    My five pleasures for Monday:

    1. Phone call which resulted in me being booked to run a couple of workshops before Easter and the possibility of generating more tutoring work.

    2. Getting this week's cash out of the bank. I am determined to try to get through this year just spending via Direct Debits, cheques or cash, ie as much as possible needs to be planned in advance and properly budgeted for, including all our fuel use in the car. I realised that I'd need an emergency fund in cash as back up so I'm planning on tipping any leftovers at the end of each week into my emergencies tin until I have £100 saved. Hope I get some leftovers! Pleased with the plan though.

    3. Finding a two for one on frozen peas and sweetcorn - we'd run out and this is about the only bought-ready-frozen veg I have in the freezer so nice to find it on offer.

    4. Asking for help in the Tech section about how to bookmark threads on the Forum and getting some quick replies so that I can now find everything much more quickly. I feel much more organised!

    5. The 24 hour freeze in our garden looks like a film-set, completely unreal and very beautiful.

    Sweet dreams

ooh lots of OS pleasures today but here are 5 hand picked ones:

Although I was back to work today I had a little longer in bed as decided to get to work on time rather than early as usual.

Pre-made and frozen sarnies for lunch.

The questionable apple cake I made yesterday was a HUGE success so had some as a treat after lunch. :T

Rescuing a slightly battered chocolate santa from work that had been left to melt then go solid to use for cooking chocolate.

Chillin out at home this evening hapy in the knowledge that all meals are planned until the end of the month.....a friend asked me today if he could stay with us this Friday as he is going to be in the area flat hunting and I told him he could join us for chicken pie...not sure whether he was scared or impressed that I know on Monday what is for tea on Friday!! Daren't tell him about monthly menu plans! :rotfl:
Clearing debt to save for a simple wedding.

    5 for today:

Being warm and cosy in baggy clothes around the house.

My boys relaxing and calming down, staying at home all day after all that rushing about in the cold on holiday.

Drafting a menu plan for the week. I aim to keep our grocery spend to £100 this month, to focus me on using things from the freezer effectively. I started as I mean to go on by making leek and potato soup with some leftover cream in and defrosting a bargain baguette for the boys' lunch.

Getting lots of washing done and ironing it as it dried.

Finding half a bag of stale nuts and fruits in the cupboard and putting them out for the birds, who seemed to enjoy them more than we would have done.

    Hi everyone

My 5 for yesterday are :

    1. Finding out that I have a new driver dropping off my daily work, the other driver was sooooo horrid but this one seems lovely, I can look forward to my work arriving now and not dreading it. Not really OS but it made me happy !

    2. A lovely walk with the doggies, hadnt walked them much over the christmas holidays as DH got into the habit of going out with them early before I was ready, its was so freezing but they still had a dip in the water and a game with a lovely Labradoodle. They bring me lots of pleasure in watching them having so much fun! AGain not OS but I guess they provide me with free entertainment !

3.DH called to say he did not have much work on today and would be home soon to help me with my work/deliveries. It was a lovely surprise and really appreciated and great to have a little more time together. It also saves me using my own petrol as he has private use of his works van.

    4. Doing my first mystery shopping job since before christmas, its good to get back in the swing of things and nice to know that will be a few more pennies earned !

    5. £1 a day saving from 1/1/10 going well - £9 saved already !

    1. Waking up to a Christmas card view of my garden and the orchard beyond in heavy frost, it looked beautiful...from inside :D
    2. Finding a sweater in Mr A reduced to half price but it had a thread pulled right in the middle of the front. Went to CS, spoke nicely to them and got a further £3 off...a lovely teal, cable sweater for £5 :T
    3. Delicious hm soup for lunch again, and veg with noodles for dinner. I'm going to try not to shop until I've at least halved my cupboard and freezer
    4. My laptop has come back, now I just have to take it to the techie to put the hard drive back and DGD2 can have hers back. It's her teen b/day on Friday so she'll get an extra pressie for being such a lovely, generous girl :A
    5. Watching the cats and dog huddle together on the back doorstep waiting to be let in - it looked as though they were all keeping each other warm..ahhh :grouphug:

Night night and God bless, ((((hugs to everyone)))) and please stay warm and safe in this cold slippery weather

Morning everyone, what a beautiful view i've woken up to this morning everything covered in snow. Has sort of changed my 5 for today.

    1. Take DS to school, he hates driving at the best of times, but in the snow:eek:. So going to be in Belfast at school so will do a little bit of shopping at the sales. :money:

    2. Call few friends and see who free for lunch. In Belfast anyhow;).

    3. Really enjoying following Acey's posts. Takes me back to when my DS was small and his Dad and i had split up. The pleasure and the pain. Thanks so much for sharing with us.:A

    4. Tonights treat is going to be RainyWednesday's hair mask, really fancy that. Along with a bubble bath too. All day until in Belfast will be sore on the legs and feet bath will cure that.

    5. Made pizza dough for tea tonight, i normally only leave for 1 hour, so hopefully it won't have taken over the kitchen, as i'll not be home until 6ish.

Have agreat os day, be careful in the snow, big hugs to all who need them. Love BTxx

    Hi

Sorry not posted for a few days but things have been a little bit strained the lst couple of days. I travelled to the North East for a family friends funeral and then my mum had a fall so spent a couple of hours in A&E. Thankfully mum is ok, she has a cut above her eye which they glued and a sprained wrist. My parents do like to scare me at the moment:eek:.
Anyway in amongst all that my pleasures for the last couple of days:
    1. Getting my food shopping under the budget I have set for myself plus used a £5 off voucher that I picked up before christmas.
    2. In yesterdays post there was a farmfoods leaflet that had 4 money off vouchers in it, these can be used in Mr.T so now have a voucher for every week until end Feb:T
    3. Taking a packed dinner with me for my train journey which included some lovely cheesecake that was YS in Tesco
    4. Seeing my parents and lots of my family even if the circumstances were not the best still nice to see them all
    5. Taking parents dog for a walk in the snow, he is so playful and loved it

Hugs to all who need them

    1. Delicious tofu and mushroom savoury loaf for tea with loads of veg and garlic gravy. Absolutely scrumlicious.

    2. Getting another very enthusiastic review of the last short story that I wrote and put on the Internet.

    3. A short day at work -always good!

    4. A good session in the gym - always gets my day off to a good start.

    5. Getting some minor repair issues in my house sorted.

Hey, it's started snowing here in Bristol - maybe the bosses will send us home... one can hope...:D

Hello everyone, hope everyone is staying safe during this freezing weather. I am finding it really difficult to post anything positive at the moment due my DM being so poorly and I fear she has not alot of time left with us, which obviously casts a big cloud over everything. However, this morning I decided that I must try to keep positive not only for my sanity, but for DM and my family as well. So here goes:-

    1) Finding peace in looking out at a beautiful snowy but bright landscape. I love how silent everything is first thing in the morning when it has snowed. It's as though everything has been wrapped up in a great big fluffy blanket and all sound has been muffled.

    2) My lovely dogs running around in the snow and then queueing up by the patio doors to get back inside to the warmth of the fire.

    3) A bowl of porridge and then warm toast with real (naughty but nice) butter and a lovely cuppa. I love breakfast more than any other meal of the day.

    4) The start of my great de-clutter today (long overdue), everything has got a little out of hand recently. I also intend to use the Xmas Cards to make tags for next Xmas and then recycle the rest.

    5) Hugs with DM later when DH and I visit her at the Nursing Home. I always try to keep the visits cheerful even though it is so much more difficult now and I don't think DM even sees the flowers we bring her but I hope she can smell them. We still get the odd smile too, which brightens up everything.

    Have a nice day everyone.
