Well, its been a funny sort of day. Been gearing up to going back to school tomorrow (I help out there all day on Tuesdays too) but have just seen the weather and it looks like it will snow AGAIN overnight. I can't remember a winter being so cold for so long! (Can remember one with deeper snow though).

Phoned the court usher today too and she said the ex husband is due back in court in mid February. If he pleads not guilty (which we can be sure he will....) it will go up from the magistrates court to the crown court. However, she thinks there are so many charges it will go to the crown court anyway. He is out on bail again now but bail with conditions (she didn't have details as to what the conditions are). It was very strange talking to the usher, I had to hide in the kitchen to do so as sons are here. I then went back into the living room and smaller son was sitting on the rug playing with Lego without a care in the world.

    Anyway, 5 for today:

    1) Sons combining forces to make me a cup of tea this morning (I have a cold).

    2) An email from my solicitor getting me up to date with the correspondence flying backwards and forwards between solicitors.

    3) Boys have played quite nicely together and on the Wii and with their Lego.

    4) Tea turned out well, homemade pizza and baked potatoes.

    5) Still on top of the housework, it can't last!

    6) Going to go to bed early (11pm is early by my standards!) with a hot water bottle and watch University Challenge on iplayer.

Hope that everyone had a good first day back...

    My top 5 today are:

    1) The amazing sunset which I watched from desk (while trying to look as if I was thinking hard!). It was bright orange, spreading to pale pink, then onto mauve and then deep blue and it just continued to improve!

    2) Going to Subway with a colleague for lunch so that we could have a good catchup

    3) Putting my arrogant colleague in his place by telling him that he was aggressive and inappropriate and that he had messed up our relationship with a supplier. People usually let him get away with being rude and I got a little cheer from some of the other buyers!

    4) Stem ginger biscuits... need I say more?

    5) Getting a lots of little things off my to-do list at work. Actually they were fairly large peices of work so it felt good to sort them out finally.

And 6th.... I'm on holiday tomorrow afternoon!! Woohoo!!
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Hiya all

I hope everyone's first day back went well. Dh couldnt get his car off the drive so worked from home but the kids arent back until Wednesday so neither of us got up too early.

1 Going for a walk in the snow. It was still snow and not ice although ds1 did find a few patches to slide across (and fall on!!!).

2 Got 4 bags of shopping for £6 in mr m's today. Well chuffed. Think i will just need milk and bread later in the week and maybe top of up veg at weekend but thats all my shopping done for the week and fingers crossed will stay in budget.

3 A lovely message from another mse'r supporting me after some 'argumentative' posts on another thread.

4 A thorough clean and de-clutter of my kitchen. Well, as de-cluttered as my kitchen will ever be!!!! Thats the hall and kitchen done now! I am getting there!

5 Tea of leftover pork that EVERYONE ate again! yay!

and 6 I crocheted a mouse last night! i am amazed at all the stuff i am learning from these boards.

Hope everyone has a good evening.
  • 1) First day back at work and although it took me over an hour to get there, it feels good to be back.
    2) Nice lunch of (you guessed it) left over salmon, a piece of Christmas cake, a clementine and an end of goat's cheese. I do like using up.
    3) Was let off early and did some work at home. Can't say I'm feeling on top of it at the moment but if I keep plugging away it'll come.
    4) DS got some new shoes for £25. I'm so glad that I don't have to take them any more at the start of every term and wait with all the other Mums. The same for clothes. I just give out money and the really nice thing is that they are always fairly economical with their choices.
    5) Made a pasta bake with bacon, a tub of out of date yoghurt and the last of the Wensleydale. It was very nice. While the oven was on, I baked some scones.

And a last sneaky 6) The chocolates that my BIL bought us. You eat the chocs and then you eat the basket. Absolutely lovely.

Acey - your DSs sound like little treasures, well done you for bringing 2 obviously gorgeous boys into the world :) (and well done for keeping a tab on the numpty ex.....but sorry you have to :( )

Bonty - how lovely are your little ones too, I love the way they reacted to your scan pictures :):)

Reverbe - keep your chin up girl, hugs

Caterina - I'm loving the sound of your red lentil and barley soup, I could do with a bowl right now, am starving and cold to the bone!

    Here are mine :-

    1. DD's little friend came over for the day. He's a little treasure and they were both happy to make their own lunch of pizza, using up more of the veggie stew whizzed up to make the passata. I surpassed myself by really thinking of how many veggies to cut up for them to sprinkle on, and prepared far fewer than I have previously - and it was still plenty!

    2. Took them out to an indoor play place this afternoon that was horribly cold and boring (for me)! They ran around like they had new batteries, and enjoyed the snacks I'd taken with me - thought I was going to have to be secretive with them, but the place has obviously realised that they were fighting a losing battle trying to stop people taking in their own food and drink. Phew!

    3. My L*keland order arrived and sadly the bits I really wanted had run out, but on the upside it's saved me £10, so not all bad....

    4. DD had tea round at her little friend's, so I've gained a day on my meal plan!

    5. Enjoying the silly mineral water advert with the babies rollerskating :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Today mine are:-

    1) Walking Penny on the frosty sports field and not having to clean muddy paws on our return!

    2) Free cup of hot chocolate on return to warm up! From our recent stay in a hotel.

    3) Seeing the kitchen start to look presentable now I am back on the flylady thread!

    4) Making a tomato and courgette bake using up courgettes from Christmas veg box, tinned toms from approved foods, breadcrumbs made from remaining Christmas rolls and some grated Christmas cheese!

    5) Putting the lights on the Christmas tree and turning off all other lights so that I could enjoy the tree one more time! It comes down tomorrow! :(

Arent cats great ladyhawk and sparrer. They are napping now. One is very grumpy at not being allowed to walk over the keyboard.

    1. Speaking to a lady in Lidl today. She looked a bit bewildered looking at all the hams and stuff and said there's so much choice, to which I said ooh I know. She said it wasnt like this in the war. I felt nice to know she felt comfortable chatting to me. I replied saying we didnt know how lucky we are. :o

    2. Getting my clothes ready for work the day before. I hope this lasts as a habit it makes it so much easier in the mornings when I stomp about bumping into things. I've never done sarnies the night before, so may try that too.

    3. Having a sort out in the kitchen - mainly putting dog food into boxes (like lock and lock). Didn't realise that cleaning the kitchen was on the flylady thingie today so double bonus.

    4. Giving my loved one a head massage as feeling poorly. I found it relaxing myself! Hearing him snore on sofa now is a good sound.

    5. Seeing a post from Reverbe. Missing reading about your coin spotting and sample spotting. If you fear the worst with your flatmate, try and think about what steps you can take or look at what options there are. I can often paralyse myself with fear sometimes just worrying, and not doing a sausage about it. It must be a terrible start to the year but grab your winter bag (;)) and nurture yourself with hot choccie, long stripey socks and a hot water bottle.

    My 5 for today:
    1. Finding I'd lost weight and inches over Christmas without trying!
    2. Trying new recipes with DS today
    3. Walking the dog round the park - very cold but bracing!
    4. Realising that for once we've used up most of the leftovers without throwing food out
5.Enjoying the tree-lights - really don't want to put them away!

    Think twice before spending anything!
