ARGH - hit the close all button rather than the other window button and lost my post, but here goes again. Mhagster - nice one on the cutting out fizzy drinks! Are you feeling better for it? I have been and as I've previously mentioned it's really nice realising true tiredness! I'm down to drinking tea now and LOADS of water.
Well done! Oldtractor - this is quite a good link that I was directed to a day or so ago - it has lots of useful potato recipes on.
It's nice to be home. It has been a day of mixed emotions at work so it's good to be in the relative calm of home. It'll probably be short-lived as it's a Friday night but I'm enjoying it while I canHere goes with my pleasures for today:
1. A birthday at work and someone leaving meant there were a LOAD of cakes, biscuits, sausage rolls, sandwiches and chocolates for everyone. And the highlight was a 12in based, 2 Tier chocolate cake decorated with chocolate flowers, fresh strawberries, cream, marshmallows and ... did I mention chocolate? It was beautiful, and probably the nicest cake I've tasted in a while (including mine!) I should mention that a colleague made it, too, so it was all the better.
2. Being sat down at home with a cup of tea. Bliss.
3. The prospect of chilli con carne with sauteed potatoes (glorified chips) and a glass of winter berry cider I found in Mr M...
4. We had hailstones this afternoon which made the surface of the river behind the office dance. True, the first thing my boss and I thought of was the paintwork of our cars...
5. The fruit box was delivered today and had blood oranges in. I haven't had one of them in years, so it was nice to relive it.
As I mentioned in my pleasures, we've chilli con carne tonight with chips and I'm going to enjoy every rib-sticking moment of it (if I can make room from the buffet lunch and the cake). I'll make it regardless because I know Mr Kitchenbunny will come home hungry and I can always have it for lunch tomorrow. We'll be having it for tea tomorrow night anyway, redesigned as a Mexican Meatball Pasta Bake
Hope everyone has a lovely evening. (((hugs))) for those not feeling well and I hope you feel better soon.
KB xx
ETA: Congratulations PK that's wonderful news! (((HUGS)))Trying for daily wins, and a little security in an insecure world.0 -
I really should be working.... but PK... WOW!!!!! what fabulous news. Things are really turning round for you and your DH. Enjoy your stressfree evening.... and getting ready for your first day back at work!Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0

Purple_kitten wrote: »:jWow my 1-5 is contained within my post, it’s fair to say it was a normal day we popped out to run some errands, then we got back in and opened the post with trepidation these days it has to be said, to find our PPI claims had been successful, here are your cheques, I called my husband over as I was in shock and we gradually took it in, it was it real, we keep giggling, being serious laughing again. It is enough fully pay off our mortgage arrears:T, and pay off 2 credit cards, it leaves us with the debt of one card and the remainder of the mortgage. It feels absolutely incredible, needless to say we popped straight out again to the post office to pay them in it’s still sinking in.:rotfl::beer:
It's thanks to MSE and reading on the forums that I filled out the paperwork myself as I thought nothing ventured, nothing gained and didn't expect this at all...:money: Martin big hugs and Thank You's.
The irony being I was seriously stressed up last night online filling out our court paperwork and in discussions with solicitors about the serious accident that got us here which is another legal battle going on at the same time.:)
We honestly feel like we have won a jackpot, it feels amazing
Absolutely delighted for you Purple kitten. Best news I've heard all day.0 -
Thank you, it just feels like a weight has been lifted, it's just incredible.
We haven't told anyone really as we don't want to sound like we are gloating, but it's just an incredible feeling, we were genuinely at the end of the road arguing with solicitors with the mortgage arrears.:(
It did flit through our minds to take the money and run, but we like the luxuries of a house, as do the pets:rotfl:
Now I get to hopefully go into a new role without stresses of debts, being able to save and pay off the one remaining one.
Just absolutly elated, and I knew this forum would understand0 -
Have a good day, all - I'll be back at my usual time with today's pleasures, which will hopefully include a plumber turning up and fixing the leaking sink.
Humph. He didn't turn up, and didn't even have the courtesy to let me know - I finally phoned at 4pm to ask where he was, only to be told he couldn't come until tomorrow.
1) PK's news - that's truly fantastic. :j
2) NSD, as I've been sitting at home all day waiting for the plumber.
3) Got a chunk of my essay written, although it will need considerable re-writing - I had a lousy night's sleep last night (I was really cold and kept waking myself up with shivering) and haven't felt properly awake all day.
4) Macaroni cheese with leeks and bacon for dinner - yum.
5) I might take inspiration from KB's post and go and open a bottle of pear cider I won at a previous pub quiz. Or possibly a bottle of wine from the last M&S meal deal. Decisions, decisions!
KB - I had the hailstorm, too - it turned the garden white for a while!
oldtractor - I've never tried veal, although I've seen it in my local butcher. I'd love to know what it's like, as I think I'd like to try it but I'm worried about buying some and not liking it at the prices the butcher charges. (Their meat is fantastic and nearly all high-welfare, but it's certainly not cheap.)Back after a very long break!0 -
purple kitten how wonderful! Good News.
CCPI'll try and remember to post about the veal when it arrives and we make a meal.
kitchenbunny thanks for that link.
Have a good evening everyone.0 -

Tealady - Well done on your fundraising and your DD's parents evening.
Ladyhawk- Get well soon - glad to hear that you are being appreciated by your boss x
Frith - poor you xx it sounds terrible- your parents sound like angels x
Millie - your posts kill me xx I think if you and I met we would create havoc.;)The world would never be quite the same again :rotfl:
oldtractor -is turning in to another Chicken woman, ha ha - nowt wrong with that. How exciting getting a new hen house . My old hen is still struggling a bit to swallow , but she is fighting, swearing and growling, dustbathing and eating well . So I will wait and see, thanks for asking x
5 for today
1 PK's news has got to be top of my day really:D
2. Went racing , it was a lovely day , paid for by Mr. T vouchers ( should be £30 for the two of us).
3. I came back with more cash than I took with me, as I backed a second , third and a winner ! I only put £2 bets on though:)
4. Wore a white thick tight cotton polo neck sweater that I have not worn for about 12 years . Glad I did as it was very cold
5. Got back from the races just as my Mum was going out for the evening and swapped chicken patrol duties for dog sitting duties. The dog is staying with us until Mum gets home as she barks her head off if she is left alone for too long.I love having her here
Hugs to all of the poorlies !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

Wonderful. Now remember to pay off the credit cards with the highest APR so that you reduce your future interest payments. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

Dear PK, the last thing anyone would think after all you've had to bear is that you're gloating!!
I'm so happy for you, having been in a very similar position I empathise with all you've been through, and can undertand all the emotions you're feeling right now - including the 'take the money and run' one
Have a super evening, will toast you both with a nice cuppa. Isn't MSE the most wornderful site? :money: No wonder we keep coming back!0
