going to post earlier rather than when my eyes are half closed at bedtime!

1.Hurrah for Friday.....didn't feel like a Friday as we had Thursday off!

2.Not too busy at work which was nice for a change.Did an extra 1.5 hours today.

3.I saw some nicer beasties today: a tree full of parrots, dragonflies the size of your hand, ducks & moorhens, a lovely blackbird , who must have a nest in one of our trees, I can hear him singing & he had a paddle in some water in the garage gutterpipe this morning.

4.NSD ....I am inspired by those of you on here that don't spend any money! I am going to try (will be a trial!) and have a couple of NSD's a week to start off with.

5.DD2 winning a prize of cake pops from a baker back home, she is gifting them to her old school friends :)

I am sitting in my beautiful shabby chic study, having caught up on work emails, enjoying the view out my window & listening to Mr Blackbird. This is a happy home & garden .I hope you all have a lovely day. My home town was very snowy last night (tiny bit ....but only a tiny bit envious!) so hope you wrap up well if you go out. Poorlies continue to get better.

I tried to write the other night kitchen bunny that I too have given up diet cola drinks, this is the end of week 3 & it gets easier as it goes on, I suppose I am lucky that as it's so warm I'm drinking a lot of water anyway.....first week was murder though ! Keep going!

Felt odd and a bit grumpy last night - a combination of a very poor manager at work, and being tired and hungry I think

    Anyways for yesterday

    1. Good session with my full time students, despite many interruptions from others
    2. Someone brought in yummy homemade christmas cake and homemade chocolate cake - I had half a slice of each :o
    3. DD had a fantastic parents evening - they all think she is marvellous and should achieve everything she wants at GCSE :T
    4. My 4 free Kit Kat Chunky's arrived. The peanut butter one is delish.
    5. Parking was £1 less than I thought and I found 40p in the ticket machine.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Morning all!

My five pleasures for yday/this morning:

    1. The sun is shining, lovely to see and puts a smile on everyone's face.

    2. dd4 is still smiley and cheery despite having a v snotty cold!

    3. Had a lovely afternoon nap yesterday, and OH cooked dinner (v v rare as he's a chef, and doesn't tend to cook at home!), I was pooped after being up a lot in the night with aforementioned snotty babe!

    4. Approved Food order arrived, sooooo much stuff for so few pounds! And I got 3 packs of dates for £1, I think, so sticky toffee pud will be made over the weekend :)

    5. Just had a text from dd1 to tell me she has bought a multi pack of mars bars as they were on offer, for us all to share with a cuppa when she gets home :)

Have a good day all, will hopefully get to have a read through later, I miss this thread! xxx

  • Morning all. I am much better now, and back at work. Not sure if that is a 'yay' or 'boo' though (the work part) ;)

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. PAYDAY! :j At last I can breathe

    2. Felt immensely satisfied by paying off my current credit card and the rest of the money left over from last month to my old one

    3. Bought a paper to get the £5 off £30 in Aldi voucher. Last time I got it, I completely forgot to use it at the checkout as the CA rushed me through and I got flustered. She wouldn't let me use it after I'd paid either so I will learn from my mistake this time!

    4. Doing most of the Flylady list, including wiping and 'brassing up' the door handles of the upstairs. This was such a nice pleasure to do - I find cleaning immensely satisfying.

    5. Finally feeling almost normal again

Time to try for 5 for yesterday. Still really ill. :-( We'll not go into detail about how this flu has progressed save to say from 5pm last night it has required a series of.... bowls...

    Yesterday!

    1) Boys to school happily!

    2) Made it to counselling although I felt terrible.

    3) Bigger son made he and smaller son pizzas for tea.

    4) Little son very good in running to fetch bowls :-/

    5) Mum and dad came up to put them to bed for me.

    Morning all

I thought I'd post my pleasures from yesterday as I'm sitting at home twiddling my thumbs waiting for a plumber to turn up (it's only been two hours since he said he'd be here - "sorry, love, I've been delayed").

    1) A very tasty lunch of LOs.

    2) Making a post on another MSE board which made the regulars laugh - I tend to lurk over there and am always a bit nervous about posting as I'm not particularly well known on that board.

    3) Received my veg box, with another box full of the cleaning stuff I ordered on special offer, making it cheaper than the supermarket.

    4) Pub quiz yesterday evening, and I won a bottle of cider which is perfect for the apple cake I've been promising to make for the team since before Christmas.

    5) As I'm not at work today I didn't need to be home early so I walked rather than taking a taxi, which saved me a bit of money. :money:

Frith - get well now, you hear me? ;)

mhagster - I didn't know you had blackbirds in Oz. I always think they've got the nicest song of any British bird, but I don't know how they compare with Australian birds.

Tealady - very well done to your DD - what a fantastic result. :T

Chickenopolis - I haven't had those croissants from a tube in years - I'll have to see if I can find somewhere locally that sells them as I really fancy some now.

Have a good day, all - I'll be back at my usual time with today's pleasures, which will hopefully include a plumber turning up and fixing the leaking sink.
Back after a very long break!

Hi everyone;hope your hen is ok Chicken.
    1. Have just ordered a smart new super duper large hen house! Cant wait for it to arrive next week.
    2. Ordered some Rose Veal from Midshires Foods (Farmers Fayre). This gives bull dairy calves a purpose stops them being shot at birth or shipped overseas to not-so-good raising conditions. Here they are raised in large straw filled barns;have a decent diet and freedom to gad around.
    3. There has been another stray hen but her owner has been found (am glad for the owner); she was to come to me;never mind;the search is still on for a friend for LBH.
4.Its sunny and blue skied between the sleet showers.
    5. Horses out in the top paddock today.
and have to add another one; my seed potatoes have arrived ! International Kidney [Jersey Royals] Maris Piper Desiree and some freebies called Melody. A neighbour gave me some Sharpo Mirs recently too we are going to be stuffed with potatoes mithinks! Potato Omlette anyone?
  • :jWow my 1-5 is contained within my post, it’s fair to say it was a normal day we popped out to run some errands, then we got back in and opened the post with trepidation these days it has to be said, to find our PPI claims had been successful, here are your cheques, I called my husband over as I was in shock and we gradually took it in, it was it real, we keep giggling, being serious laughing again. It is enough fully pay off our mortgage arrears:T, and pay off 2 credit cards, it leaves us with the debt of one card and the remainder of the mortgage. It feels absolutely incredible, needless to say we popped straight out again to the post office to pay them in it’s still sinking in.:rotfl::beer:

It's thanks to MSE and reading on the forums that I filled out the paperwork myself as I thought nothing ventured, nothing gained and didn't expect this at all...:money: Martin big hugs and Thank You's.

The irony being I was seriously stressed up last night online filling out our court paperwork and in discussions with solicitors about the serious accident that got us here which is another legal battle going on at the same time.:)

We honestly feel like we have won a jackpot, it feels amazing
