Just wait until Chicken finds out
What a lucky little hen
Oldtractor and Millie -Chicken has found outLBH came and found you , I think Oldtractor
This has made my day x
Millie - I think both you and the GSD have been missing "the parentals"
ninnoodle,pk and frith please get well soon . Ninnoodle - was your running vest thick enough ? Moonlight runs in your undercrackers?? I bet everyone has said that you must have caught a "chill" when out running x
5 for today
1. Finally got the table INSIDE the house:rotfl:. OH ,myself (spinal cord injured) and my 75 year old Mum who is no bigger than tuppence managed to get it in the house when two big strapping men couldn't
2. Scrubbed the table , which was filthy and dried it off and it looked so nice I had a lie down on it .I then told OH that it feels somewhat similar to the new mattress when prone. I said that if I snuffed it I would like him to make my coffin out of the table as I don't want anyone else to have it- especially not him , as he has already gauged a bit out of it
3. Took old hen to the vets . OH thought it would be sensible to sit between two over exuberant large dogs , with a chicken in a basket ( no pun intended) . So I got the basket and sat in a quiet corner with an already terrified bird, who spat all over the vet, me and the wall . She has some little growths under her tongue which may or may not be tumours . This has been making it difficult for her to swallow but is not contagious, hope the meds. work .
4. Beef stroganoff made in the slow cooker - this was nice to come home to following the vets appt.
5. OH has just been out to get the old hen some melon and some grapes which should be easy for her to swallow:)
Have a good evening all x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Get well soon Chickenopolis' chook, wish I was there, melon and grapes for tea, yummy!!
oldtractor - I was hoping LBH would become part of your family and yay, she has
1. NSD - not intentional as OH and I were supposed to be going out to the cinema this afternoon as my treat but.....yes, you can fill in the gaps....I'm a bit miffed as I had to put 2 and 2 together that his lack of contact by lunchtime (apart from the traditional good morning text) meant we weren't seeing each other today, and it's not his MS that is making me feel like this, it's the lack of good manners in sending a text to say sorry I'm ill. He knows full well that I don't get in a huff about him cancelling on me, as after all, I've been understanding for a year now and have no reason to stop as when we do see each other its wonderful. He's just a silly goose... Anyway, it was a much-needed NSD as I'm brassick and there's still 6 days til payday!!!
2. I had a good sing-song with DD whilst she was waiting for her bath to run
3. Made scrummy soup in the pressure cooker and have enough for a couple of days
4. Have finally got off my ever-expanding backside and hoovered downstairs! It looks lovely now, wonder how long for
5. Just had about enough margarine to make 24 yummy fairy cakes, some for the school bake sale, the rest for DD (errrm, and me....stupid emotional eating, grrr!)
6. Lovely email from my friend who's just had her baby, I was silly, I should have called her to see if I could pop over this afternoon to meet the babe instead of making cakes and soup and being a tad grumpy about OH. What a waste! As DD was at the childminder's I've wasted my 'free' time.....*sigh*
Anyway, back to the pleasures, it was lovely to hear from her, good to have a NSD and I know OH will be lying at home feeling guilty that he's not here cuddling me, he just won't necessarily say it in those words tonight, maybe tomorrow!0 -
Evening all! Frith and ninoodle - get well soon or else I'll come round to nurse you  - believe me, you wouldn't want that!
oldtractor, so pleased to hear about your new hen :T
My pleasures for today:
1. Another viewing on the house, with another 3 booked between tomorrow and Saturday. Fingers crossed!
2. Yummy slow cooker curry tonight, with another 3 portions for the freezer.
3. Finding out they are doing free cholesterol checks instore at Sainsburys - well, according to Facebook anyway. Can't find anything on the Sainsburys site about it. I've no reason to think I have a cholesterol problem but it would be good to get it checked.
4. Arranging with a friend to go to a table top sale at a local church on Saturday. Going to see if there's anything I can sell on Ebay or Gumtree. Plus I can spend some time with a good friend.
5. Sorting out what I can do on a practical level to sort out a few things that have been niggling me - new start tomorrow!
6. A NSD and a NPD as well. Can't remember when I last spent any money and I haven't driven for over a week - all helps keep money in the bank!
7. Reading a truly appalling thread about Santander's non-existent customer service and deciding not to go ahead with a savings account I planned to open with them. I need somewhere safe to stash my cash after I sell the house and Santander sound like a nightmare. I've only deposited £1 so far, thankfully!
8. Finding a website where I can get cheap storage for my stuff once I sell the house, assuming I can't find a friend with available space.
9. Cuddles with Fudge Foster Cat.
10. Keeping up with my housework, exercise, Spanish and typing routines.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Evening Ladies...
Phew... Long day up in bonny Edinburgh... Then I got a rookie taxi driver on the way home who got lost! Grrr! Poor chap did get a little flustered. Though I did chuckle when he said "I'm lucky it happened with you and not someone with a hard personality"... I think most people who know me would say that I have a very hard personality.
1) NSD (expense accounts are wonderful things)
2) Took my old mascara into B00ts to exchange for a new one
3) Had lunch with an old friend which was lovely... Though I am still full!
4) My presentation to a very important client went really well. The main client said that she wished all her suppliers gave her such comprehensive updates on what they are up to. I made to pass that on to the boss!
5) Got confirmation that I am getting a pay rise this year... Yippee! I am exceptionally grateful given the current environment
Night night all - sleep well
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -

Aww, poor thing, I hope the meds work for her and she gets better very soon. Your story reminds me of the time we took the in laws' parrot and dog to the vets at the same time. Chaos. The parrot travelled there on the back of FIL's seat, nibbling his ear (he was driving) and chatting away to itself. Then we got stuck in traffic, B'ham rush hour traffic, people were pointing and laughing, I was hiding, red-faced behind the dog. We then got into the surgery and FIL went in first with the parrot and it made the most almighty racket and the whole surgery was in an uproar. The dog looked at me at this point as if to say "we're not with them, are we?"
...and get well soon please, poorly peeps xx
My five for today:
1. Mini lie in, OH still has a touch of manflu, but offered to take the GSD for walkies, so I could have an extra 30 mins in bed..and this morning, I really appreciated it!
2. Salad for lunch from bits I found in the fridge
3. ..and dinner from stores/freezer
4. V windy at the yard. Fixed the fence that 8yo had broken (hooligan). Oldie had a strop on and launched over her door at 8yo walking past, then dragged her rugs over her door  then went for a mad gallop around the field. 8yo launched over her door at oldie, by way of revenge. Sibling rivalry!!
5. The 'rents are back and they bought me a lovely scarf and some Millionaires shortbread and GSD has gone to camp out in their quarters, so we get some peace. Hurrah!!
(Arthur rabbit is snoring so loud, I can hardly hear Heston!!)
Hugs to all in need xx0 -
Evening all.
savingforoz - please, please avoid Santander - they're appalling (as you've already gathered). I put several thousand pounds in one of their accounts a few years ago, and it took me three months to get it out again, as they just couldn't get their act together enough to give me my own money. Needless to say I don't bank there anymore.
Chickenopolis - I'm sorry, but your 'chicken in a basket' did make me giggle.I hope poorly hen gets well soon.
oldtractor - what a lovely story to make me smile after another miserable day at work. I'm sure LBH will be very happy in her new home.
Frith - I don't have any personal experience of counselling, but I can't imagine anyone could object to you cancelling an appoint because you have what sounds very much like flu. Just concentrate on getting better - and the same goes for you, ninnoodle, and PK .
1) NSD.
2) A colleague reminding me that we get a pay rise this month, backdated for 5 months. It's not exactly a massive rise - after tax, the 5 months additional pay will just about cover the cost of my new boots - but every little helps, as a certain supermarket I no longer mention has it.
3) Deciding to take an evening off essay writing. It's not urgent as I've taken Friday off work to give myself a bit more time to write, and I really couldn't face it after today.
4) Easy, very MS dinner tonight - YS quiche and HM chilli beans, made with a sachet of BOGOF chilli sauce.
5) I'm going to curl up in a bit with a mug of hot spiced fruit cordial, a fleece blanket, a mog, and a nature documentary. Not very exciting, but pleasant.
Have a good evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
CCP - sorry you have had another bad day :cuddle: You need to come and work with me and we can eat chocolate brownies and you can giggle at my ineptitude and inability to work a photocopier
(I couldn't figure out how to do multiple copies on our new machine the other day, and nobody around to ask, so I just fed the document thru 30 times.... Shhh don't tell anyone
)

Don't dare say [Short Post, promise...I know my track record]
Don't dare say ANY blutty post after this morning. I'm still steaming, when I revisit those thoughts...so won't.
1. Bed imminent, must up for bus at 3clocksillies for London, Spitalfields.
2. I am not a F/b person, save inadvertently, but will you all please see dear Mumoftwins' note for young Poppy. She's been a fighter for most of her 9 years, but she's up against the big one shortly - and yet it's hopeful. Thankyou if you find a word or more to leave.

My friend's young daughter Poppy is to have surgery. The consultant is 98% confident there will be no issues and confident that for the first time that all of the tumour on her brain can be removed. Two surgeons will operate over 5-6 hours, no date yet set but will follow a scan scheduled for March. Any op is a worry, particularly one of this nature but the hope that the tumour can be removed and Poppy can be tumour free is great. If you don't know the family, so haven't already sent your love and best wishes, feel free to do so on here. They'll see your support and it is so much appreciated xx

Big hugs and prayers for Poppy, little cherub xx
Ampersand - sob, Miss, I only hoovered because the floor was crunching underfoot, I don't do it often (hence the crunchiness, lol). It won't happen again probably until we move whenever that may be! OH has now called and he sounds like someone has kicked him in the unmentionables, he's very high-pitched and yup, feeling out of sorts.0 -

THere are no words to follow that - mine for today

4. Made some biscuits with it.

A trip to Kent for me on Saturday, but I have marking and get free train travel (OH works for railways) so can kill 2 birds with one stone - all I have to do is avoid the Fat Face shop at Euston and St Pancras!I wanna be in the room where it happens0
