  • Ninnoodle - was your running vest thick enough ? Moonlight runs in your undercrackers?? I bet everyone has said that you must have caught a "chill" when out running x

Yeah I know, this is what everyone is saying / thinking, but I've been running for over 15 years and never caught anything like this. If anything it's made me more resistant to colds. Otherwise I would have thought the same :)

Ps. had a good giggle about your table and Millie's FIL's parrot :D

For the avoidance of doubt - messages for Poppy to read go on Jukia's Facebook Page.
I wasn't sure how to give link without my details being accessible.

Kittikins - I'm sorry, but the Rules are clear and you have transgressed: 5000 lines it is[or should the Grammar Purist in me write 'they are'? That's COMPLETELY odd]....of your new Jacquot and the Master, snug in bed, with nice tea:-) No, I'm not listening to any protests. Just do as told...NOW!

I'm sending lots of strength and positive vibes to Poppy and her family (and the surgeons too), and hopes that there is the very best possible outcome for her.

I've had a hectic weekend, and had a landlord visit - I've been a bit preoccupied which is why I've not been around. All seems well there (fingers crossed) and various little jobs needing to be done should get sorted out. I've only just been catching up on posts again today - so much to read!

A few pleasures for the last few days then:

    1. I've now got to 21 NSDs which is pretty flipping fabulous in my book. :D Am going to try to clock up a good few more before the end of the month. DS1 asked me today why there were 21 little green stickers on our calendar - he noticed!:rotfl:

    2. Made a phone call to BT to cancel my £3.15 a month call minder service which I clearly don't need and was told that they could reduce my payments by another £2 a month (they are offering discounts to existing customers who agree to stay with them for another year). The rate at which I get round to changing things is such :D that I think this may be quite a good deal so I agreed and have knocked nearly £62 off next year's bill.

    3. Got a useful vegbox delivery yesterday, did the next week's meal plans this morning and did the next week's food shop this afternoon. At long last I am feeling much more in control of food spending. Eating too - getting on for 7 weeks being wheat free and no sweeties.

    4. I've switched the way round I sleep in my bed (my head is now where my feet were) and I prefer it like that. Getting sleep sorted is my priority for next month now that food seems to be coming together nicely.

    5. Have read through the book I got earlier in the month to do with a possible play I could write and it's looking hopeful. I've sorted out visiting a library with a useful archive connected to the subject matter when I have to spend a few days away in March.

    6. And I got a couple of loads of washing about three-quarters dry on the line despite the overcast-about-to-rain-but-didn't day.

    7. Chatted with my mum this afternoon and she's offered me an apparently stunning, huge, very high quality, white linen tablecloth that was new over forty years ago, was someone else's wedding present and was never used hence it was passed on to my mum but she never used it either. It has no sentimental value and she thought it might be useful for making clothes. I said yes please!

    8. Oh, and I've passed the 700 posts mark (it's a bit like watching the mileometer in the car.:rotfl:)

    9. And I really enjoyed watching Birdsong part 1 on iplayer yesterday evening.

    Sweet dreams

  • Chickenopolis - We have a table to eat at, but Mr Kitchenbunny doesn’t get a lot of free time and wants to combine everything by eating tea on his lap (or on his office desk, as happens rather frequently). You made me giggle with the Chicken in a basket (no pun intended) comment - thank you for the smile! :)
CCP - (((hugs))) Hope you feel a bit better soon. Your boots sound absolutely lovely and I know I wouldn’t have been able to pass them up either. :)
VJsmum - Glad your Dad sounds like he is on the mend. I’d love to have a Magimix - when we have the room, I’ll have my mixer :D
Millie - Aww, Arthur rabbit sounds lovely!
Ladyhawk - Well done on the pay rise!
Kittikins - Wow, do you have pictures of the dragons for Chinese New Year? They’re always so colourful and pretty. :)
Sparrer - Those carnations are doing well!
Tealady - Sounds like you’ve had a very productive day. :)
Frith - Hope you feel better soon (((hugs)))
Mhagster - A couple of good discounts there - nice one!
Ninnoodle - Hope you feel better soon too! (((hugs)))
PK - Nice one with the lower than expected bills!
Oldtractor - Your number 5 sounds absolute bliss! As does your lunch ;)
Savingforoz - I miss cuddling cats. :( We’re not allowed pets here as part of the rent agreement and I love cats.
Ampersand - that Peach and Orange Marmalade sounds amazing! Am thinking positive thoughts for Poppy.
Broomstick - wow, 21 NSDs is amazing! Well done - I’m lucky to manage one lately.

Ahh, the end of another day. One step closer to the weekend, which is nice. I thought I'd pop on with my pleasures to round off the day with and then I can put today to bed and look forward to tomorrow. Here goes:

    1. A lovely Rogan Josh for tea at Mum's tonight. She spoils us.
    2. Reading another couple of chapters on my eBook.
    3. Getting out for a walk at lunchtime.
    4. Managed another day without Cola. Did, however, drink 2.5 ltrs of water and feel a lot better. I'm starting to recognise when I feel genuinely tired instead of the downward slump after a sugar and caffeine rush. :)
    5. Have managed another day where I have got all 5 of my 5 a day. I've been a bit slack with this in the past and do feel much better for it. :)

Have a lovely evening, everyone. Take care

Sending millions of goodvibes, hugs and strength to Poppy and family, thinking of you all xxx
  • ampersand - I hope all goes well for Poppy and I am sending thoughts to her family xx

Millie - Is your FIL a Pirate ?? I loved the parrot story - they are so funny but bliddy hurt when they bite you x My family have two, one picks off your mascara and shouts "KIWAAAA!" as it can't pronounce its "R's" like Jonathon Ross ( should be "Kira").The other mimics the smoke alarm- not so funny. They also smell of wee.

    Ninnoodle -
the thing is, I think that sporty people know how their bodies function better than anyone ! Wear your vest with pride :D

    Morning

Millie - The parrot story did make me smile
Ampersand - Kepping Poppy and her family in my thoughts and prayers
Frith, Ninnoodle and PK - Hope you are all feeling better today

    Pleasures for yesterday,
    1. Took a bag of books to a different charity shop. The lady in there was lovely unlike the grumpy man in the shop I have been taking things to.
    2. Last of the soup made the other morning for lunch
    3. Lift to DD's school off a friend at work so just the bus home to get.
    4. Hot Chocolate with DD whilst waiting for the bus
    5. As late home swapping the meal plan around so could have a quick dinner. Whilst that was cooking prepped tonights dinner as know we will be in late again and we will not be having take away.
    6. Treat myself to some sports socks and jogging bottoms form M&S using vouchers :money:. Need to start walking training again as have signed up for the full London Moonwalk and the half Edinburgh Moonwalk. I must be mad

Hugs to all who need them.

hello, tired & readu for bed but need to clear all the 'stuff' off it first! Didn't have a long lie (I never really do but nice not to have to go to work! Pottered about whilst everyone was still asleep.

1.Almost finished clearing house, just some stuff in garage to come down. House is all spick & span , we have to get carpets professionally cleaned to get our bond back so will need to organise that. I felt nothing but relief to be away from the house! So many problems & indifferent landlords!

2.Chatted with one of my best friends this morning, lovely just to blether.

3.We had a nice lunch of tuna pasta, hard boiled eggs, nice bread, RTC gammon, and freshly made scones (in my new I can bake oven!)) with HM strawberry jam.

4.We went out for dinner using the voucher my boss gave me for Christmas, now this was for a generous amount but with average main course @ $30 (20 quid) I had to count up as we ordered. I had lasagne (and it was lasagne only for $30....no veg or salad that all cost extra! It was nice but I make just as nice a lasagne! However, the staff were very attentive & puddings (2 between 5) were amazing) and I didn't go over the voucher amount.

5.DD1 got her first ever payslip & is delighted! A good rate for a 15 year old. She is a saver & is excited at it going in her bank account :)

Had a 'you know what' incident this afternoon & I was hysterical. I think it was the same one from bedrom wall last week & it had climbed into a box (at least I'm telling myself that, can't cope if there are more of them.) It is a kind that will bite you & will necrotise your flesh. I was shaking, crying ,hyperventillating...the full works :( However, Oh was here & dealt with it, thankfully. I hate them.

need to clear some space now ! have a good day & poorly people get well soon.
  • Mhagster - that sounds truly awful about the you know what. I would probably have reacted exactly the same :(

I am starting to feel better, and am back at work at least. Thanks all for your get well wishes :)

    From yesterday:

    1. Superb Burns supper of haggis neeps and tatties, followed by a wee dram (and then another wee dram in my hot chocolate - to help my chest infection you understand ;) )

    2. Managed to get (via deals posted on MSE) a half-price pair of Fitflop shoes for my mum. I had got her some slippers for Christmas but they didn't fit her and I promised to get her another pair. She said Fitflops were what she found the comfiest

    3. Found the energy to do some housework

    4. Me and my OH went through various phone deals for the landline, and eventually changed to Sky for a better deal. Wish I'd read Broomstick's advice re existing BT customers first though! My OH also phoned Sky to threaten to leave the TV & broadband package we're with as apparently lots of people are having success at being tempted back with good offers. Sadly it was no go this time.

    5. My book, although harrowing, is fantastic reading. It is Feargal Keane's 'Season of Blood: A Rwandan Journey' and I bought it after going to an interview of his at a book festival last year. He talked about all his various reporting experiences and how he reached a very dark place in his mind after Rwanda, and then he broke down and started crying. I don't think there was one person in the audience with a dry eye. I bought the book there to at least get a sense of what he had been through and so glad I did.

CCP/Tealady re shoes, the speaker at my meeting last night was wearing a pair of IC! Grrrrrrr:mad:. Tiny posies all around the opening and winding up the heels, chintzy silky fabric, beautifully patterned insole and underneath. There were a few envious looks in her direction, I can assure you :D
    CCP get well now
ampersand hope you've calmed down now. It's amazing, that in this world of hi-tech, they can't find a way to save a simple thing like a post somewhere inside the comp. Prayers said for Poppy.
Mhags belated Happy Oz Day. A friend always sends me a pack of Tim Tams, but I'm not eating biscuts atm so gave them to my neighbours DD (The packet was one short, to be honest :o). You have my admiration, what you said about the 'creature' has put me off going to Oz for life!
ninnoodle get well now. Your book reminded me of the late 70's when we had some missionaries from Rwanda give a talk at church. It was harrowing to listen to then, I think you're very brave to be reading the book.
PK congrats on all the utility bill refunds, what a lovely feeling. I had similar last year, goodness knows how in that awful Winter!
savingforoz good choice to steer clear of Santander. Just after they'd changed hands DM was told that in future she had to take her passport and 2 utility bills to prove who she was. This from the girl who had been serving her for the previous x years when it was AN! Then when she wanted to leave they virtually gave her the third degree, a bit harsh on a woman in her 80's. DB soon sorted them out!
Chicken message to old hen - get well now. I couldn't agree more re a parrot's bite, that hurts! DD has one, he barks like her 5 dogs when there's someone at the door, and has learned to imitate DGD2's ring tone. Their house is chaos, always answering the door and the phone! :D
VJsmum if possible could you pretty please find an alternative expression than killing 2 ****s with one stone, it could send the chickens, lady hawks and sparrers among us into quite a flap! :rotfl:

    1. Popped into Mr S they have Frontline in their pharmacy at £9 less than the vet. That'll be quite a saving over the three furpets

    2. Needed spend £20 in above to save 6p/litre on petrol, a bit gutted that my local filling station is 4p less but needed a total fill and saved 2p/litre, better than nothing

    3. Visited DD after exercise class, DGD2 was languishing on the sofa with the lurgy. However not too ill to show me some designs she's working on - IC has got some competition there!

    4. Had my hair cut at college, a new student who's not ready to cut to my style so once again, the tutor did it ;). Needs a colour but can't afford college prices atm, so bought 2 boxes (bogof) and will do it myself this afternoon. There will be no pretty streaks but saving enough for a good day out on Sunday (and won't look like a badger any more :D)

    5. Two loads of laundry done on Econ7, and a lovely day to have it hanging outside to dry

    S :)
