Evening all
Had a little ponder on todays 5....
1 - Mini lie-in, joined by Big George (steady on, he's a Pusscat)
2 - 3 x HH me-time watching a film
3 - Sausage and Mash for tea - RTC sausages from the freezer, LO mash from yesterday, accompanied by a cheeky little packet of Pigs in Blankets found lurking in the freezer :j
4 - Grown up DD and DS joining us for tea, and the ensuing battle for the last Pig - DD is ADDICTED to them, and DH tries to nick them from her plate at every opportunity
5 - Home-made Jam Roly Poly - Suet Mix and Custard from @pproved foods, @ldi raspberry jam, worked out 6 portions cost me about 40p :money::D:D:D
6 - A bonus number six - ALL Pusscats tucked in for the night so no 2am wailings to come in :j
7 - Ooh just thought of another one, new series of Superscrimpers started tonight :money:
8 - This is getting silly, yet another - did an online Energy bill comparison - SAVING £300 AND £40 CASHBACK:money::money::money:
Oh dear, much of my day seems to have revolved around the production and consumption of food
Night all, sweetie dreamsDon't put it DOWN, put it AWAY!You can't expect to Fly if you're still wearing your pyjamas! :j:j:j0 -
Thank you all for understanding, it's difficult for some (older people in particular) to understand how I feel. Thanks
Chicken thanks for heads up but was out this evening so will see if I can catch Superscrimpers tomorrow
ampersand am looking in my diary for our next meet, perhaps to explore Bedford next time? I've just got inconsequential bits and pieces for now, when do you go on your long trip?
VJsmum much relieved re your Dad, and well done your brother for his efforts. Would residential be an option? Or perhaps he needs more than that, eg nursing care. Take your time and look at everything (kitchens and outside front and back) wherever you view. The registrations officer at the local TH will have a list of all types of accom in the area.
KB hugs, sometimes we need to be quiet. You know you can talk about it if/when you feel like it, or not. We understand
PK so pleased you got good support and advice from Shelter. Good luck for next week, you'll be just fine and they're going to wonder how they ever coped without you!
Kittikins my 15 y/o DGD and I will be in Rome at Easter, and guess what she's looking forward to...yup, pizza, pasta and ice cream (too young for wine). Oh, and shops, as she's looking at a career as a designer. Just window shopping you understand, she doesn't get that much pocket money!
savingforoz good luck for the viewings, the agent must be excited about your house if he's getting them so soon
oldtractor sounds like you might have a pair of bombproofs on your hands, lucky you if they are
Ladyhawk re the joke, I had similar from my neighbour this evening just as a meeting was starting, had to stifle my laughter. Hope you can get a signal tomorrow, or perhaps take some flares with you
CCP sorry about your sink, and the Chelsea bun. Rotten man. Hope you're feeling a bit more settled now
Tealady you're not the Special K lady are you? Or the girl with the auburn bouncy hair in the red shoe ad
1. Asked neighbour when his new shed is going up as I want to put a coat of paint on the outside of mine while I have the chance. He offered to do it for me!
2. An item on my Bucket List has been arranged, am going to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo in August. Not really MS but got a value deal
3. nsd
4. renewed my library books on line, thanks ampersand for the reminder, I was within 24 hours of owing a fine
5. A good evening out with friends, lots of free entertainment
Sweet dreams

Eyes are closing like curtains and I can't be long ce soir - @ Charity tomorrow.
1. Endless research means only 6 more listings today, because of an intriguing possibility re:1805 Joseph Angell silver from France last summer...something of a Watch This [ebay] Space sleeper.
2. Lleyton[still don't care for him, but by golly...]came up trumps in his match vs Djoko this morning. SUCH amazing fighting qualities...and he at least took the 1st set from Djoko in this tournament.
3. Knew sth looked not quite right out back. Realised that decorative metal gate[which I use across fence gaps - they look better than it sounds]had gone...we're all v. conscious of metal theft, but it just needed re-fastening. V. jolly broad tri-colour petersham being used now - have been using it since the early 80;s, still have a basket full. Old haberdashery is another of my secret loves.
4. Surely not...yes, it really is! As I pushed my big field gate, there was a single bloom of kerria on one twiggy end. Took pic. There's another sprig in bud.
5. Birds seemed extra hungry today, included first chaffinch for a long while.
Territorial muggings among merles/blackbirds were prolonged and vicious, but fascinating.
More 5. An unlikely play on R4 this arvo was a real surprise - about the vogue for women cross-Channel swimming in the 20's. True story of one of them - show biz aspect/tragedy/double-dealing/courage/rivalries and politicking of one remarkable woman.
Chickenopolis - fine sounding pieces. If table spoke to you, it's right.
Kitchenbunny - you need a hug.
pk - you are being strong together, so you will come through. What you've already undergone is your mortar for this re-build in a better place , on a stable foundation - new job AND STARTING DATE! Just a week today.
vjsmum - a new phase for your Dad and for you - never easy. I'm glad your brother has seen it too and can share with you all that is ongoing now.
ccp- those glorious caketins do raher go with the IR shoes and we can all have our Verboten Phantasy Bag which will magically go with us to our own Desert Island Discland[with Samuel Barber's Capricorn Suite playing]
Tealady - I love my red shoes and red anything too, pretty much - baboon's bot anyone?

Very odd - page just went again...
Was just checking last em's and this is from NZ:
Hi xxx This could be tricky but South Pacific Pictures want to use the song in a TV ad and want to know who if anyone now owns the rights to the lyrics to that song. Apparently the music is in the public domain. Someone tracked me a while back from my Broadcasting days in the NZBC and I filled in some gaps. In fact, I'm taking some pics etc with me. This was the era when my province was the great rugby Ranfurly Shield champion[stuffed with AB's, inc Captain]and our station was deeply involved. Wrote a few things, including the lyrics for song referred to above....could be fun, even if nothing comes of it.
sparrer - Yes please, but prob, not before mid-April now. In 3 wks today, I've been flying 2 hours....:-)CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

CCP - not sure about scarf but how about Kitty Slipper?
Sparrer - thanks for your concern rE my travels to deepest sarkest Wiltshire. If I don't post tonight then please send a search party!Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
hello from a tired & weary me. Had a seriously busy shift and then home to humph yet more stuff between houses in 34o heat! Have called it a day at 8pm & DS has just went for chips.....again, cannot face cooking...we will start to look like chips soon!
1.Beautiful morning, slept well and up & about at a reasonable time.
2.Woke to the news that a friend from home gave birth to twin girls.
3.Saw an emu on my drive to work today!
4.I have so much to do & unpack, however, I am sitting on my backside for the first time today...it will still be there tomorrow!
Can't think of number 5 , enjoy your Tuesday!
a belated no.5.....nice ,cooling ice cream for pud!0 -
VJ'smum - sorry to hear about your dad.
Will do 5 for yesterday. Have been really quite ill (still not right), was almost frightened last night when I even had swollen glands on the back of my head so I couldn't lie back against the sofa. :-( It's almost like having mumps!
1) Waking up with OH.
2) Got house clean and tidy.
3) Watched Casualty in bed!
4) Mum brought me Lucozade.
5) Bigger son made microwave fudge. It hasn't set but will make a lovely ice cream sauce.
6) OH came round after work and made the tea for me.
7) Nearly forgot - told bigger son that I had made an appointment for him to see the nurse about his bad foot. He said, "Oh, good. Do you think she will give me a crotch?" :-D0 -
Chest and cough getting worse so got a doctor appt first thing. She ruled out pneumonia (phew!) but advised me to stay off work for the next few days. On OH's orders, was in my bed all day. The Northern Lights were visible right where I live the night before and we were hoping to try and see them again but I was too ill
So yesterday's pleasures:
1. Impending work trip to London this week was cancelled due to doctor's orders - she said "if you go you will feel ill for a very long time" which nailed it for meNeedless to say, I wasn't looking forward to the trip!
2. Day off work, lying in bed reading all day. OH brought me cups of tea every so often!
3. Small payment from Topcashback
4. Nice phone call from my mum
5. My little cat cuddling in with me all day0 -
Get well soon Frith and ninnoodle xx0
-
Get well soon to Frith and Ninnoodle - hope you feel much better soon! Mhagster - wow, an emu? That's really cool! I like to see the little rabbits on the roundabout, but that's as wild as the wildlife gets around here!
Anyway, here's my 5 pleasures for today:
1. I'm feeling a little less morose today. I have sorted out a few things in my mind and I think I know where I'm going with it. They're all career-related and whether I should look for something that will challenge me more - but whether I'd like somewhere new and even if I'd find it ... that kind of thing. But, I feel a bit more resolved now and therefore a little happier.
2. The prospect of a hot roast beef baguette with onion gravy for tonight's tea. Yum!
3. Joining the Grocery Challenge has given me a bit of focus on the MoneySaving aspect of life again. Sometimes you have to put it into perspective.
4. I've just watched Superscrimpers and picked up a tip!
5. Another day without a glass of Cola. I will beat this!
Thanks for all the support - I'm truly grateful. It gets difficult to think clearly when you've got stuff on your mind and it can be difficult to shift. Now though I'm struggling with myself as I want to start growing stuff again but am so impatient a gardener that I'm just rubbish at it. Every year I'm the same! I hope everyone has a good evening. PK - am thinking of you and sending you positive vibes and hugs.
KB xxTrying for daily wins, and a little security in an insecure world.0
