Good evening all !
PK -I am glad that your good news is sinking in ! Re your rollercoaser ride journey- no wonder you are achey , you have now relaxed your gripxx
ampersand - Pukeko's have been on my mind . So I have been watching them on "You Tube"and reading up about them . Loved the bit about them being stubborn and obstinate, but held in awe by the Maori people. You can tell I am on annual leave x
frith - enjoy your new car ! Check the inside of it for Reverbes
5 for today
1. Day off - had a bit of a lie in.
2. Purchased some food for the "Chinese meal for many" ( unclear how many) I will be cooking tommorow night. Managed to buy my favourite frozen mini veg. spring rolls from a shop that sells Asian food - 60 for less than £3 !
3. Gave away half a dozen eggs to my neighbour and another lot to my Aunt who really enjoys them.
4.All this talk of shoes.. so I got 3 dresses online at Dotty P. for £30 and this qualified for free p&p. One Kimono dress was £39.00 originally. They will do for work and/or pootling around in the garden in with my Hunter boots on ...I have been spotted wearing gingham pj's and Hunter boots in the past- who cares!
5. OH made a curry for tea .
Have a good evening all!:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Millie 2008, glad your GSD has perked up!
Thank you x
Bratstrop alert... I have been feeling a bit meh and lonely today, for no good reason. I think I am missing doing things with the horses, by things I mean riding and going out and doing *stuff*. I keep hearing about friends' plans for the weekend and I feel a bit out of it. I know I am being a bit of a brat and I do love just being with the horses and I do realise how lucky I am, but every so often, it hits me that they cost me a fortune to keep and I can't even sit on one of themI also seem to have lost interest in crafting, which is annoying and I am not sure how to get my mojo back- time of year, methinks!....Bratstrop over
My five(ish) for today
1. Bit of a lazy start (for me), then walked GSD in the woods. She got v muddy, but she is a proper dog, not like some of the dressed up toy things that get carried around here- I always want to liberate them from their Gucci carriers and let them play in the mud- bad Millie!
2. What has to be the most random (non-pregnancy (I think!!)) food craving of the year - sweetcorn fritters! I found a recipe on the www and whipped up a batch in 15 mins, then devoured a few, with my chilli jam. They tasted a bit flour-ish, so if anyone has a super-duper, tried and tested recipe, I might just love them forever
3. I had a CBA moment re. the horses- ref. above and the weather was cold and windy and raining, but I do them on a Friday afternoon/Sat to give ponycarer a break, so needs must. So I rallied GSD (she never needs much encouragement) and we braved the weather to put them to bed. They were pleased to be tucked up in their PJs and as I watched them all munching their hay, I was reminded just how lucky I am. As I ache to be able to ride mine, there are others who ache just to be close to them and who would give anything to have 2 broken ponies just to cuddle
4.It would have been a NSD, but Diva Dog had run out of chicken, so I had to buy/cook her one.
5. I am currently snuggled up in my PJs, with OH and GSD- eta just me in my PJs, they wouldn't fit!!
Hugs to anyone in need xx0 -

Evening all.
PK - that's truly fantastic news - go you! :j:j:j
Frith - I'm not a great one for shoes either - I'd be happy to make the appropriate admiring noises over those shoes, but I feel no desire to own a pair myself. Having said that, I do like these - I've been telling myself all day that I don't need them and can't afford them.
1) Picked up a pack of YS smoked salmon in Mr T - with some HM seedy bread that's tomorrow's breakfast sorted. (I'm making the most of it as I'm never going in Mr T again after a dreadful incident today where I had to listen to the till operator making fun of a Chinese customer for not knowing how the car park machine worked. I've made a complaint but I suspect they'll react as they usually do, by completely ignoring me.)
2) The most beautiful sunset this evening - all purple and salmon pink - it looked positively unreal.
3) I left my car in the office car park while I got my hair cut this evening, then realised I hadn't checked what time they locked the gates. My car wasn't locked in by the time I got back, I'm very pleased to say!
4) RF cheese and tomato calzone for dinner - it and a spare are cooking at the moment and smell fab.
5) I've done some studying and am now up for a lazy evening, sipping a glass of YS wine and watching some snooker.
Have a good evening, all - particularly you, Millie - I hope you feel brighter soon.Back after a very long break!0 -

Nooo, I don't think so...not yet, but you peeps will be the first to know as and whenPatter of teeny hooves nearly, after eejits next door let their colt loose in their top field last summer and it tried to have its wicked way with oldie over the fence (failed, but oldie wasn't exactly giving him the brush off *tart*)
Millie - I hope you feel brighter soon.
Thank you, lovely. The calzone sounds yum!!0 -
I'm loving reading everybody's posts tonight.
pk -it's all just wonderful. Oh, did I remind postie to be friendly today aussi? I think so:-)
chicken - it hadn't occurred to me to go looking for pukekos on youtube - I will. Yes, I'm fixated on those gumboots now. And this is perfect for me, too:
'.....stubborn and obstinate, but held in awe by the Maori people. ' Well, my mother was - last bit.
Want to hit that auction with you, too. Love Arts and Crafts, among much else,. Have some decent bits...all hunted and gathered for v. little though - usually unrecognised, unregarded by others.
millie - I prescribe shoes. Tweedy-ish green ones work best, with spots-pour toi, pas pour les chevaux. I should talk, as a person who rarely shops in shops. Last shoes, red ballerina with bows, came about 3 yrs ago from Nmkt swank leather shop. They sometimes do bits of restoration for me. Saw them in window, MASSIVELY REDUCED TO SINGLE FIGS,...coup de foudre it was. I love them still.
AH,checking out CCP's extremely regular choice [glad you've joined],if 1st pair doesn't work, there's this -also green - similar name variant.

Frith- we want to go in the new car. Where are you?
1. Saveur de tomates provençales all-pervading. This is good!
2. Listening to Toulouse vs Gloucester, need a lot of France ce soir.
3. Don't know why I don't feel guilt-ridden at not having torn around doing zillions today, but don't.
4. Reflecting on some emails.
5. Good old NZ Edmonds Cookery for sweet corn fritters[which I love, too] Millie:

CCP- more seriously. I sent a 7-pager by o/n delivery[big expense for me] to CEO Philip Clarke yesterday. Please write AND KEEP GOING IN. Seek out the COOPs you heard and saw. State to them that you have written about their behaviour, which was shocking and unacceptable. Ask for THE mgr, not just 'a manager', or you will get the Day mgr only - and repeat all. Freephone HO - 0800*505555. PLEASE!
Silence is betrayal.

CCP - I've just seen your signature. Do act, please!

Mustn't keep adding things - this just now from Cambs Lib newsletter:
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the anonymous customer who made a generous cash donation of £366 to the library. He said "I reckon you are worth one pound a day". We are very grateful for this unexpected and generous gesture of support, which even took into account that 2012 is a leap year!
Now, that is good news.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

I know EXACTLY how you feel. Frustration isnt the right word I'm not sure what is . But I share your pain today and yesterday I have been quite down. I long to just go and ride for hours over our miles of lovely bridleways. My babies are both 20 months theres ages to go yet; i feel i'm wishing my life away sometimes. couldnt even be bothered to poo-pick the field . [will do with DH tomorrow].
Did get them in for a few hours though today.groom and fuss and they both are getting used to wearing a surcingle and boots now. que "lets rip off the boots" and "lets remove the nice padded numnah under the surcingle. " game. ripping velcro and flinging things across the stable as well as giving everything a good ol chew! I love youngstock. :rotfl:
it was quite windy today so i put a rug over the fence and let the wind blow it like a balloon. 1 horse was amazed with a let- me -at- it- to- investigate mood. the other wasnt sure but when his friend wasnt eaten by the rug monster he got brave and both ended up pulling it around. what fun! :T0 -
I've been up since early o'clock...too excited! No Saturday scone today just a Saturday New House!0

Evening ladies,
Millie - don't worry about your strop (not that it was!). Best to get it out of your system. And we're an understand bunch
1) Lie in this morning - only got into the office at 10.20.
2) My lovely colleague brought me in some carrot cake (nom nom nom)
3) Found some calorific but extremely yummy yoghurt samples in the fridge which I thoroughly enjoyed
4) Almost a NSD - just spent 85p on a huge bowl of soup
5) Being in fits of giggles as I had to explain to two colleague why I went bright red when The Aussie Lad walked into the office
6) Hilarious strategy meeting (not often you hear that!) This afternoon.
7) Left the office at 8pm after getting loads done
8) Supper will be HM stew which needs to be eaten
Night night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
