    IRREGULAR CHOICE, sparrer...

Oh Irregular Choice shoes are so pretty... I want some! But really can't justify paying such money for wildly impractical shoes, no matter how pretty they are!

Really must get up and get going, but here's a quick 5 for yesterday

    1. Much mirth in work meeting yesterday - played bull**it bingo. much my favourite game in any work meeting.
    2. Deciding not to rejoin work meeting after coffee break as it was a complete waste of my time.
    3. Walked to and from train again- building up weightwatchers points for
    4. Mums curry night - lots of us mums from school get together at local pub for £5.25 curry and drink. Didn't have wine as still doing teetotal January.
    5. DD has an interview for grammar school 6th form
I wanna be in the room where it happens

I agree Ladyhawk, there are some gorgeous shoes there *sigh* but I console myself that with my dodgy leg, I probably wouldn't be able to walk in them!

Darn it, the chirpiness was replaced last night by panicking about (a) how do I broach the subject of taking OH to the wedding we've been invited to as the invite is currently for me/DD, as I'd be annoyed if he was invited to a wedding and didn't do the same for me, but onthe other hand I know from my own tiny wedding how hard it was when people asked to bring extra bodies..... (b) how the heck I'm going to afford to get up to Glossop or wherever the wedding is near and pay for a hotel.

Ho hum! I'm sure I'll find a pot of money I can raid for this trip as I would like to see my dad's side of the family (lovely cousin I rarely see getting married and I'm really touched he's asked me to come)

    Morning

Another Irregular Choice fan but have to admit I have a pair (well 4 really). Ladybird ones are my favourite

PK - Keeping everything crossed for the interview
Ninnoodle - The skeleton has kept me giggling

    Pleasures for yesterday,
    1. Boots first thing for the 75% off sale, now sorted for most of the birthdays, mothers day and lots of christmas presents for the year :money:. As had budgeted for this spend feel quite pleased with myself
    2. Another bag of rubbish cleared fron the house and some other bits put away.
    3. Managed to clear a bit more of the ironing pile even though not a lot of time.
    4. Wathching a really interesting programme where soemone climbs over historic buildings describing how and why they were built, very interesting
    5. My favourite dinner of cashew nut rice with chilli chicken, plus it was another day of sticking to the meal plan

Hugs to all who need them
  • Ninnoodle, you can't leave us hanging like that - tell us whether the skeleton groped you whilst you were driving! (I need to know these things...)

    He didn't grope me - I don't think I'm his type....think he prefers bonier women :D (sorry! :o)

CCP - hope you have a better day today - hugs
Mhagster - I too hate the S word!! I would have done the same!
Frith - enjoyed listening to that, thanks for posting!
Tealady - glad it kept you in giggles. He will be off on new adventures soon - I will keep posted here!

    5 for yesterday:

    1. A friend whose dog had died texted to ask if I fancied a lunchtime walk (as I lost my dear cat last year so know what she's going through). It was lovely to see her and get out in the sunshine with some company. Had a nice walk and came back for lunch at mine

    2. The second pair of new running tights arrived and I love them. They were such a bargain I was expecting a nasty fit and to be sending them back but they're great!

    3. Beautiful big bowl of hm veg, chilli and lentil soup with hm bread made by my OH for tea

    4. Nice night-time run across some fields, and then I remembered a long stretch of main road was closed for 6 weeks for maintenance so ran along there traffic free

    5. NSD

Oooh, tealady[job just done btw - pm] - 4 pairs!!!

That's sparrer's pair AND my pair sorted, then Ladyhawk's having another...yes, we MIGHT allow you the last pair.

    1. Seem to be running on turbocharge atm....skype texting with even earlier friend of primary school days, thanks to dear intervention of other one,D. Ah, that's tricky - both are D's, so it will be Df[femme] vs D original[homme]. We have not spoken since just before 1st marriage in 1969. Still haven't come to that, but zipping along with my flying fingers and what she calls her demented ones.....instantaneous pick-up over 43 years. About to take up Head if Science pos. in an Oz Muslim school! Has lived there for years and years...has huge[I mean Gigantic] green snake - saw pics D directed me to a while back! Will pass this on from our chattychatty - 'There was an old lady in Napier[our home town]who turned into her driveway and hit a car that didn't give way to her.....went to court, judge asked her why she turned in front of an oncoming car she said 'but everybody knows I live here' - than which there is no more perfect womanly reasoning or justification.

    2. All sorts of comms to and fro afar...the mere possibility of this, when one stops a tiny mo for reflective pause, looking out window, cuppytease in hand[I did eventually drink much zapped brekkie one around 3/4pm hier] IS amazing.

    3. Cricket commentary this morning is beset by problems...all lines down, for everybody, so they're Système D-ing, with i-pad and skype. Commentary is cutting in and out, but OUT is all that England batsmen are doing AGAIN - DREADFUL CHUCKING AWAY OF WICKETS. To hear Geoffey B in full apoplectic rant is pure joy, because he is sound in all he says. They are being a hoot out there. Yesterday there were 3 uproarious laugh-out-loud cameos and they really are worth catching if you can, even if you loathe sport, know zilch re: le cricket.
    - C M-J being gently interrogated by Vic Marks. Was it true he had been using a remote control as a mobile phone?...hmm?...he had been seen.......'Well, not exactly in public' CMJ attempted.....'coming down some stairs?, pursued VM? 'Were you actually talking?...for quite some time? Did he not think something was amiss when no-one was talking back to him? 'Well, I just thought...you know....difficult reception and so forth'...But for over 10 minutes CMJ? and mercilessly on it went, with everyone laughing [me too] - for CMJ is so correct and diffidently old school in his broadcasting voice/manner.
    -ANOTHER WICKET GONE!
    - Jonathan Agnew having to recount his rather poor effort as Directed Helper/Minion/Caller, during Mrs A's dressage practice. He had no idea what he was even saying, didn't understand any of it. And, at all points, GB was seeking confirmation of Mrs A's likely displeasure at his failure to simply read out what was on the [17PAGES,said JA in feeble self-defence]- not a woman to get on the wrong side of, everyone helpfully observed...all the time piling in, when laughter permitted.
-finally, to Vic Marks as target. He is apparently accommodated in an Airport Hotel Location. Flights of fancy took off on this as holiday setting of choice, the delights of surroundings, nearness to runway[you won't miss your plane...or ANY plane, come to that] No worry re:power cuts - the plane lights shine through the windows day and night 24/7 etc.etc. Ideal billet for plane-spotters, which you must be VM,etc.etc. Great and silly fun.
    ###############
Well it had to be, because the cricket - from England at least - is laughable too.
    ###############
-and now we're limping along with this skype/ipad back-up commentary....'in disarray' JA and VM have just agreed, following earlier humour about GB's arrival and being confronted by such things. 'He won't know what it is and he won't have a clue why we're talking to it', then more top form riffing on this theme.
    So the morning continues.
Gosh, that was way too long, but it was that sort of pleasure, and still is.

    4. NZ cousins head>Europe day after I arrive! I'll hang around a few hours[late night arrival anyway] to say Hello, before heading to my home town, where C's home is offered to me!!! - and car!!! and 2 !!!!!cats!!! - isn't this wonderful? Fine-tuning etc. but just amazing coincidence. They'll be back 3rd week March, so we'll have time before I rtn.

    5. It's nearly 10 already - how come? Managed to do a couple more ebay things last night, during long talk with A, loveliest lady, fellow former volunteer. We have major justified concern re: imminent birth, was due 17/1 and all surrounding this[long-term history/involvement] But we will do BOGOF lunch deal at a garden centre she's long meant to visit, before I go.
    #########
    .....which I'd better now do.
pk - job's yours, okay? Thinking hard for you today, for your OH too, and for all who are making/envisaging big changes atm. savingforoz - you'll do well; you already have. Decision taken, despite current £circs , = a freed up mindset.

Putting on my mental pukekos now.......
    #############
Adding another very real no.5[bien sôr]-

    5. putah is now cranking so slowly that when I hit send button, nothing happened, for a l-o-n-g-l-o-n-g-time....then all disappeared, Oh No!....hesitantly refreshed.
BURGERBURGERBURGER - all gone...until I saw we'd gone to next page.
Well, it may not be others' pleasure...but I was relieved. I certainly wouldn't have done that lot again.

ampersand thank you for remonding me :). I couldn't possibly afford a pair, and if I could I'd not be able to walk in them, but oh, how I would love them (the red Brighton Belle :D) to just sit nonchalantly on my shoe rack just inside the front door. It's not everyone who has an 'ornament' on their shoe rack!

Evening all!! Just catching up with you all...

Mine for the past 2 days

    1. Lecture I was worried about yesterday went better than I expected. It was one of those where I had to cover as much as possible about subject X in an hour and it was really hard to write and given that it was the first time I'd delivered it, I was a bit worried
    2. Watched the Birds last night with OH (he got a Hitchcock box set recently). I saw part of it years back, but had forgotten how good it was. Horrors/thrillers today seem to be all about the gore and the more the merrier, so although a bit gorey in parts, this didn't need it. And an added bonus was that I didn't have nightmares!! Psycho over the weekend!!
    3. Got up early this morning and made smarties cookies to take into work. Everyone seems a bit miserable at the moment, so I thought that this might cheer them up and it did!
    4. OH forgot his lunch and dinner - so, to stop him buying more carp in the hospital canteen, I drove round and dropped it for him en route to work (only a v minor detour as I work down the road from the hospital). He was v grateful, especially as I also dropped off some smarties cookies for his workmates!
    5. GSD (who was a bit out of sorts yesterday- quiet and off her food) is back on form today. I was fearing an impending visit to the "V" word this morning
    6. Spent an hour with the neddies earlier, just pootling around the yard and chatting to them, then sat, watching them munch with a huge mug of hot ribena
    7. Just had a nanosnooze...bliss :D:D

Hugs to anyone in need xx
  • Good evening all !

re the "shoes" - guys I haven't a clue what you are all talking about , please tell me ? But kittikins - I have "foot drop" due to neurosurg. etc and have to wear a weird insert in my shoes - so I am limited too, can't wear pretties :(. Still I like my Fitflops and ampersand - I am more of a Pukeko boots with floral dress type x Will you be sporting them in NZ ?

ninnoodle - I fear that I may be "Bonios" type at the moment :) Sharp edges and all .

sparrer - I meant to say well done re your weight loss - you have done so well.

    PK - ????

    6 for today

    1. Last working day for over 2 weeks !!:j

    2. One of my assistants at work had failed to join up the dots re my annual leave and had sent me an email re an important issue that I had no way of sorting out , being out of the office all day on my last day . One of the other assistants sorted it out for me ,and she was a star for doing so . It averted a crises.

    3. Site visit went well - minor negative feedback was received well and they will get on with the improvements and will no doubt excel .

    4. I met a client that I worked with some years back , in an unfamilar setting for both of us. The client now has a dementia type illness . I didn't want to mention our background until I told him my name and he said "I know a J.... " and then it dawned on him who I was and it all came tumbling out .:) Thing is, I don't look the same as I did then (fortunately) and he recognised my voice .

5.Ate a huge pan full of lentil dahl - I am garlicky and stuffed and I didn't have to share any of it with OH :)

    6. OH purchased 10 stir fry sauces for £2.90 at Mr. T . Thanks to MSE . I am cooking a Chinese meal for many on Saturday , so I am chuffed at this discount.

Have a good evening all !
