Hope you feel less grumpy Kittikins
Sparrer am in awe and admiration of how you mention so many in your posts.
Ninnoodle - we used to have an inflatable skeleton in our porch when we were students. Had to move it when we realised the house was en route to the cemetery and crematorium! So it lived in the bathroom for years. One drunken dinner party had it in all sorts of positions every time someone went to the loo (sat on loo, kneeling down seemingly throwing up in loo, hanging out the window, in the shower with the shower on - you get the picture)
So for today
1. Walked to work - some weightwatchers points built up
2. Funny times with colleagues
3. Invigilating - which isn't a pleasure but at least i managed to read through a large stockpile of magazines
4. DD loaded the dishwasher
5. Some real bargains in Mr M - including 4 lots of whoopsied stilton for 19p a chuck. Gone in freezer.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Purple Kitten, so sorry to hear about your cat.
Ninnoodle, I found your post about the anatomical skeleton hilarious!
Kittikins, I can understand why you were annoyed at your OH. So infuriating when other people feel the need to make unpleasant comments about the way we choose to lead our lives.
Been a funny kind of day, for reason 1 below. Let's see what pleasures I can come up with:
1. After sleeping badly, having an upset tummy through stress and fretting about the situation, I told my one and only client that I wouldn't be working for him any more. He is a demanding and controlling perfectionist who also has mental health issues; working with him has been challenging and I could only see it getting worse. I told him without going into the reasons and we parted on good terms. I now have no work and no income but as I'm looking to get out of that line of work anyway and do something different I now have the time to devote to moving ahead with all that. Thankfully I have no debts and have been saving hard for the time when I'd have no income. I will sit down tomorrow and start making plans, now that all the pressure and stress have gone.
2. Estate agent telling me she thinks she can get £10K more for my house than I'd thought. We shall see, but it sounded good!
3. Confirming a day and time for my buyer to collect something I sold on Gumtree. £40 extra in the kitty!
4. Guilty pleasure, this - no exercise, housework, Spanish or typing today, as I spent the morning thinking about whether to give up the subcontract work or not.
5. NSD, might well end up being a NSW!
6. Lap cuddles with foster puss in evening. She makes my lap all toasty warm. Such a gorgeous girl!
7. Coming home after breaking the news to my client and having a nap to sleep away the stress I'd been feeling. Am in a much more positive frame of mind now, although that may change when I look tomorrow at the impact on my finances!
8. Yummy bean stew, rice and veggies for evening meal, courtesy of my freezer stock.
9. Listening to some favourite music.
10. Hot porridge for breakfast (another freezing cold day here in Bristol).Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -

savingforoz- well done - you have done what is right for you and we all know that you are not one to shy away from personal challenges.Good luck with whatever you decide to do x
sparrer - best not get a skeleton yet with your canine guest x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
savingforoz - what a brave decision you've taken, but sounds like the right one for you x
Grrr, I've now burned a saucepan as I forgot I had some rice cooking for tomorrow's lunch!0 -
Evening
Kittikins - Hugs to you and hope you are feeling more positive tomorrow
Ninnoodle - I was laughing at the skeleton could see it sat next to you in the car on the way home
Pleasures for today,
1. Got myself in gear and took a bag of books to the charity shop. Need to take a bag of stuff at least every other day. Also filled two bags with rubbish from the bedroom. Must keep up the clearing of carp from the house
2. Another pile of ironing done before work, is it just mine or is the ironing pile never ending.
3. Cheap 30p lunch though did have to buy a very trashy newspaper. My friend was with me in the shop when I collected my soup and sausage roll and paid 85p for a sausage roll
4. After a bit of a rant last night OH had cooked dinner when I got in from work today
5. Went to a friends of guiding meeting tonight which was interesting and will hopefully raise some funds for the local guides.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Millie I don't do cold but there's something special about a bath/shower and jimmies in winter evenings.
Mhags congrats to your DD for getting the job. All the hours you're accumulating will come in handy when you move
ninnoodle I did laugh at the skeleton. I'd sit it up in the passenger seat, although that may cause one or two accidents!
Kitchenbunny thank you for the marinade recipe, I'm always on the lookout for things to do with chicken, my base meat. Like you I have meat free days, but have got mine to 2/3 a week for economic reasons more than anything
Frith so pleased for you your counsellor got back to you. Re Stargazing, it's super, isn't it?
oldtractor isn't it good to see the evenings getting lighter - albeit too slowly for me!
Chicken his name is Bert, believe it or not. Don't ask his 'trade' name, it'd take up half the page. A skeleton would at least keep him quiet for a while!
Kittikins sorry to hear you had the grumps, well done for finding 9 pleasures under the circs. Re OH taking the mickey, I usually put it down to embarrassment about something they don't understand. At least he apologised afterwards though. I do rice in a polythene bowl with a kettle of boiled water, cover, bring back to the boil in the m/w and leave to cook in it's own heat. Takes a very little longer but saves fuel and burnt pans
Catmom you're so right, don't understand why people say animals are 'like' part of the family . They are part of the family as much as the rest of us
VJsmum I suffer from verbal diarrea, but living on my own I sometimes turn that into the written word. However I'm out tomorrow evening so it'll be a shortie. The Stilton was a super find, one of my fav cheeses but as I'm cutting down fats it's not on the list atm. Enjoy!
savingforoz good for you! No point struggling on with something you're not getting any pleasure from. You'll soon find something else, you're not the type so sit on your behind doing nothing for long
1. Kind neighbour de-iced the car for me
2. Pulm class today, the usual fun and games. The hour goes too quickly
3. Coffee with DD, didn't see my boy as I didn't want to upset him (or me), but DD says he's fine and I'm sure he is. But oh, how I miss him
4. Phoned Virgin as suggested on one of the threads re my package being expensive but they said they can't cut it down any more than they have. They haven't according to my statements, perhaps I'll go via their retentions dept. Just hope they don't cut me off
5. Checked bank balance, pension has gone in so I'm solvent, for a week or two at least
Sleep tight
S0 -
Evening all.
Here's my five for Tuesday:
1. Racing my DSs this morning to see if I could have a shower, wash my hair, get dressed and ready to leave the house in the time it took them to pack the car (there was an awful lot of stuff to take). I almost won!My hair dried in the car...
2. Lovely start to the term with the classes we are running. Lots of happy people.:)
3. Just enough diesel in the car to do the journeys we had to do today without me buying fuel so I've managed my 15th NSD this year. I'm completely hooked. This is really working for me as a way of staying in control of spending.
4. Beautiful frost in our garden and in the fields on the way into town. So lovely, made the below freezing temperatures worth it.
5. HM veg soup and dippy eggs for supper made even nicer when I asked DS2 if he liked the soup, he said I always like the soup you make. He's never said that before.:D
Sweet dreams

Ninnoodle - I was laughing at the skeleton could see it sat next to you in the car on the way home
ninnoodle -please tell me that it was sat next to you in the passenger seat with a headscarf and shades on .. or better still on the train:rotfl:Sadly, this will make me chuckle all day:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

Love those wellies ampersand
I'm feeling chirpy again today - yay! I kind of know when I get that miserable that it's going to pass quickly, but when I'm in the midst of it that day, it feels gruesome. I think it's a would be hormonal if I got PMT these days kind of thing, and thankfully this morning I got out of bed on the right side, having been cuddled by DD all night (my little hot water bottle in her 'spacesuit') and we had a jolly start to the day singing and being silly. Yay!0
