PK - hugs to you. So very sorry to hear about your kitty. It's like having one of your family go, and there will be reminders everywhere. You sound like you have a lovely supportive hubby though.
Chicken - that is too funny about FB! And Sparrer - I agree with what you say about it. I think it is what you make of it - I like it to keep in touch with distant friends and family. Some people just go on it to moan and spout off!
Yesterday's pleasures:
1. Such a beautiful frosty and sunny day. The colours were stunning. VJsmum - I too was struggling to take in frosted bedlinen from the line!
2. My brother rang me to ask me to pick up something he had got on Freecycle because the guy who owned it lives in my village. It was an anatomical skeleton!! Quite the most bizarre and random request ever, surely. He wanted it for his students who he teaches martial arts to. Cue much giggling and 'I have a skeleton in my closet. No really..I do' jokes.
3. Watched Stargazing Live last night. What a great programme. I am slightly obsessed with Prof Brian Cox
4. Had a call with senior management at work but it went really well
5. Pleasant lunchtime run in the cold winter sun0 -
Evening, thought I'd pop on and spot some pleasures from today. I feel a bit floaty so if I go off rambling, you'll know why
1. The river at the back of the office was frozen. It's absolutely beautiful when icy and is a pleasure to catch a glimpse of when you look up.
2. Went for a walk to Mr M at lunchtime and only came away with 4 pears, a bag of potatoes and a TV book. Spent £3.50.
3. A cup of tea and a sit down.
4. Going from lovely bitingly cold to snuggly-toasty warm.
5. Realising that my mealplan can be tweaked a bit to make it even cheaper.
I'm not sure why I feel all floaty. I've just done a Pilates session which I guess could be the reason. We've only tomato soup for tea tonight with croutons - I hope DH doesn't mind it! I'm trying so hard to have at least one meat-free day per week - more for health reasons than anything else. We were supposed to be having Beef Pie for tomorrow night's tea but I don't think there's enough pie filling to make it a worthwhile pie. I've a tin of corned beef in the cupboard so I'll appear to be really inventive and make a corned beef hash (when instead I'm just trying not to buy anything!). We haven't had it for a while.Last night's tikka chicken open sandwiches were awesome, even if I do say so myself. I've noticed that DH particularly likes open sandwiches and this was really simple.
100ml natural yoghurt
1 tbsp Rogan Josh curry paste
1 tsp ground ginger
1 garlic clove
1 shake curry powder
pinch salt
Use this to marinade 4 chicken thighs (deboned and skinned and cut into thin strips). Pan fry it until the sauce has reduced to a sticky coating and the chicken is cooked. I took a ciabatta roll each and sliced it into three horizontal slices to make it very thin. This means the bread content doesn't appear too heavy. Spread each layer with mayo, top one with salad (we had lettuce and shredded red peppers), one with the chicken and leave the final one free so it can either be stacked as a massive sandwich of used to mop up the juices. There was enough chicken left over from those 4 thighs to make a packed sandwich for DH's lunch today too. I just mixed the leftover meat cut into smaller chunks with a tbsp of mayo and some red peppers to make a sandwich spread of it. Yum!
Wow, really been rambling. I do apologiseHave a lovely evening, everyone.

5 for today. Am pooped already!
1) Talking to OH online until just after midnight - does that count? :-)
2) Had a good sleep!
3) Up in good time and used our new flask. Bigger son had soup in it today (homemade veg and lentil) and smaller son will have soup in it tomorrow (though he wants Heinz tomato).
4) Painted my bedroom! Took 6 hours in total, what with moving the furniture, doing the 2nd coat etc. I'm quite pleased with it.
5) Text from OH and hopefully will hear from him later on.
6) Counsellor phoned back and I will see her the week after next.
7) Hoping to watch Stargazing Live again tonight then wrap up warmly and go out and look at the stars. We live in a pretty good area, no street lights!
Think that's about it so far.0 -

Ninnoodle- WOW ! I have always wanted one of those , they are sooo expensive . How fantastic - if I got one of those for Valentines Day I would be chuffed to bits ! Is it life sized or a bit Frankie Dettori??My mouth is watering thinking about it - stuff the Mont Blanc bracelet I want one of those!
millie- that was a nice message you gave to CCP . I did snigger re the "spherical" Wii figure - you have a naughty streak too:)
sparrer - is DD's dog called Arnie?? how cute x
frith - good luck with the counsellor and well done for getting the ball rolling again. The first step can be the worse step x
6 for today
1. Thinking what a nice bunch you lot are really - who needs FB?:D
2. OH scraped the ice off of my car for me this morning .
3. Got a lot done at work-and have prepared all of my audit paperwork for the next couple of days for my site visits.
4.Its getting lighter in the evening - so I get to spend more time with the hens when I get home from work. I let them out in their FOX proofrun in the morning as it is dark when I leave for work. Its nice to see them in daylight.
5. Had an early tea as OH had eaten - using up bits and bobs of healthy stuff.
6. An evening on my own - as OH is going out and will fill up my car with petrol to save me the task in the morning:)
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Kitchenbunny that sounds yum!!
Frith - lots of luck with the counselling
Mine for today
1. Woke up feeling meh, which is odd, as it wasn't a work day. Decided that the best way to counteract this was to do some de-junking. Tackled the bottom of OH's wardrodes (I deserve a medal for that alone), my shoe and handbag collection  , the bottom of my wardrobe and some more of my craft stuff and the study. I almost tackled the huuuuge hall cupboard, then came to my senses. A few bags for the charidee car boot, some clothes and shoes for the clothes/shoe bank and a bag of craft stuff for a lady I know. I have deposited it all in my car and I will probably drive round with it all in my car for about 2 months, but it is out of the house!! Felt better after all that!
2. Oldie was climbing the walls after being trapped in her bedroom for the past few days (frosty grass). It had thawed a fair bit this afternoon, so I wrapped her up and turfed her out and she had a little hooley!! Then declined to be caught, so I sent dad, armed with a food scoop. Dad = a walking pony vending machine as far as oldie is concerned, I swear she still associates me catching her with having to work!!
3. Mrs Ponycarer had left me a pile of trashy magazines to read
4. So, being as I couldn't quite thaw out when I had done the yard, I jumped into the bath when I got home, with a magazine and a cuppa tea. Then put clean PJs on
5. Watching my bunny couple having a mutual grooming session (they are in the house in this cold weather)... They are 2 little Netherland dwarves and are such little cuties
Hugs to anyone in need xx0 -
you have a naughty streak too:)

Seriously, are they expensive? Who knew?! I think it is life-sized - at least it looks about my size, maybe a bit taller on the stand. The guy said it had been languishing in a teenager's bedroom for years!0 -
Oh burger! Just typed up and lost a long, heartfelt post, including my grumps for today (I'm having Black Monday today instead of yesterday *sigh*) and 9 lovely pleasures........grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Right, try to cobble it together, but in probably a far less wordy fashion:
Grumpy - because OH was a PITA this morning and ranted on and on about my faith, which he doesn't share and I don't ram down his throat, he eventually realised I wasn't amused by his oh so (un)funny comments about it all, and apologised, but the damage was done, as I was annoyed and upset by him.
Grumpy - I'm skint and fed up and panicking about why on earth I'm moving house when I'm so poor etc etc, and what if interest rates rise, or what if I get made redundant etc etc.....
Grumpy - I watched the "obese" programme on Sky that I recorded and this week's lady struck a chord, as I'm big, not as big as her, but could see myself continuing in the same vein if I don't snap out of it sharpish! On the plus side, at least DD decided that I'm not f-a-t or chunky, I'm "Rubenesque", which is a term I've used about myself a few times, but I didn't realise she's picked up on it
Right, enough of the grumps, here are the pleasures (at long last I hear you cry!!)
1. NSD
2. French class (which today was Maths as the kids had stuff to finish off) was fabulous, love these little cherubs so much
3. Rainbows was fun tonight
4. Worked from home (due to being skint and not finding a free car park space) but
to being able to work from home
5. Got a good letter from the solicitor about the house situation - easy questions to answer for my buyers, and good answers to most questions that I put to the sellers of the 'forever home'
6. Popped over to the 'forever home' with the estate agent to measure up the space for a cooker and we discovered that the existing cooker works perfectly so are hoping to persuade the vendors not to dump it but to either let me have it (or at worst, sell it to me)
7. Lovely chat with my mummy on the phone
8. Cuddles with DD this morning
9. Friends I don't know that well have decided that they would like to pay for me to go out to a group dinner on Friday night that I'd turned down the invite for as I'm skint and said that I needed to save the money for the move, rather than be frivolous (as it'll be £40+ for the meal etc). I feel a bit weepy about this as it's so kind of them, and I didn't tell them about not going to hint that I wanted them to treat me, more because I'm very open about things and so rather than pretend that it didn't appeal, I just said, yes it's a shame but this month is too tight for me to come along, and I need to be sensible......
Right, I think I need to get DD to bed, can't quite believe its only Tuesday, feels like it should be Thursday at least!0 -

, our cat of 14 years has passed away very suddenly. I know it’s part and parcel of having animals in our lives but it just seems to get harder and harder. Her partner in crime is coping ok we are fussing him and he’s got a lovely heated bed. I’m feeling winded / punched thou.:(
Oh PK, Im so sorry to hear this, age is irrespective, they are family and love us unconditionally. Hugs xxDon't put it DOWN, put it AWAY!You can't expect to Fly if you're still wearing your pyjamas! :j:j:j0
