'The Gummies Pukeko Gumboots feature New Zealand's gawky swamp hen, the Pukeko. Their distinctive bright blue plumage and red beaks and legs ensure these quirky characters always stand out from the green landscape.

Savingforoz - well done on giving the stressful client the boot, and good luck to finding some nicer ones :) Life's too short!

Sparrer - maybe worth checking out at the retentions dept - I'll be interested to see how you get on if you do. Too often new offers are for new customers and nothing is given for loyalty

Chicken - I have a tiny car so yes it was :D shame it was in the dark though, and sadly no headscarf or shades!!

    Yesterday's:

    1. A fat little robin was sat on the treee opposite my seat outside, staring at me, imploring me to feed him. I remembered I had a packet of hanging nuts so quickly went out and hung them on the tree and watched the birdies devour them :)

    2. One pair of new running tights arrived in the post, along with a freebie bag of haribos chucked in. They were scoffed immediately (before the tights were even out the bag!)

    3. Freebie sample of L'Oreal Elvive shampoo in the post

    4. OH cooked the tea - leftover risotto from the night before and rosemary and garlic roast potatoes - YUM!

    5. Nice walk late afternoon round the village
  • Good evening all !

ampersand - good choice - every girl needs a pair of Pukeko boots. They are fab.
kittikins -glad to hear that you are feeling happier today :)
sparrer - I love the name Bert :)
ninnoodle - please don't start me off re the skeleton! There are so many corny questions I want to ask "when you drove round a corner did you have to push it off of you?" , " did you put a seatbelt on it?" and my finest ... "did it try and put its hand on your thigh when you were driving?":rotfl::rotfl:I will stop eventually ..

    5 for today

    1. Skeleton giggles all day- I blame my father , it was like growing up with Eric Morecombe:) I have inherited his childish sense of humour.

2.Banged a report out and sent it to a Provider before 8.20 am. Chased a few people up and reminded them that I am on leave for two weeks as from tomorrow at 4pm, so all communications are to be directed to my boss.
3.Site visit went better than expected . If I had a fiver for each time I had to remind employers about the 2010 Equality Act I would be a very, very rich woman.

    4. Got home at the usual time which is much earlier than I thought it would be :).But I did not take a lunch break.
5.OH had a job interview and looks like he might be invited back for a second interview .

Have a good evening all !

    1. Feeling chirpier today

    2. Not a NSD, but got bargains....that I'm sure I could have left in the shops had I really wanted to, but I didn't ;)

    3. Saw OH, not for long enough, but took him to physio and then back to his for a cup of tea and piece of cake, nomnomnom. *sigh* We won't see each other now until Monday due to me being out tomorrow and hopefully Friday night then we're both busy/away at the weekend......

    4. I've put my piano up for grabs on Gumtree and Freegle, and have had one response already - fingers crossed someone will want to take it away!

    5. We've been invited to a wedding oop north in May :) My brother scanned in the invite to me but I can't tell if it's just for me and DD or for the 3 of us...
  • A hughe thank you for the hugs, I was in two minds to post it or not as some people of course have varying views on animals, but they are family here, thank you for the understanding.

Kittkins: Wow reading your grump about the obese programme could have been written by myself, I’ve always used the term Rubenesque for myself you really did have me giggling at the laptop.

Sorry if this is a bit of a ramble, but my numerous pleasures for yesterday..

Where to start, I put my all into an interview first thing in the morning, I have never tried so hard to “sell myself”, and it went well as I meet my would be boss tomorrow for 2nd interview.

We decided to go out, and thought since we have signed up to bookers we would pop over there and look around, it was a complete let down, we walked out empty handed as a vast majority of things we looked at were cheaper else where, I found it really hard to get my head around this as this is a trade cash and carry why on earth is it more expensive than the deals you can shop around and get we thought we must be missing something but barring one or two things they were just daft.

So we were went over the bridge and went bargain hunting in Essex, we discovered a “home bargains” which had very cheap bird food and cleaning odds and sods and some toasty tog socks for £2.99 each - half the price I have been able to find them at. We meandered around the market just “window shopping”.

Stopped at an all day truckers cafe for massive teas and all day breakfasts all round, we got chatting with the cafe owner who pointed us around the corner to a little
place that sells items that were close to or just past their use by dates! We picked up 30 diet cokes for £3, a large iced heavy fruit cake 99p, wagon wheels as it had to be done, they all have use by dates on of end of Feb, and I have been reliably told by DH they will not last that long!

We went back to Costco who were more than happy to start a new membership for us thankfully, as the in laws wanted some Kirkland loo rolls and we treated ourselves to loo rolls and one of their meat pork joints now cut into 3 and in the freezer.

We then found lakeside and took my mascara to the MSE trade in at boots and had no problem at all in getting the free Clinique one.

It was a weird day as we just don’t “spend” anymore, so it felt very extravagant.

DH did so much to cheer me up it’s ridiculous, which in it’s own right is my 5 day.

    For today
    A long lay in
Breakfast / brunch was given to us by the cafe owner yesterday – he gave us some sausages, as he was soon to close.
Finding out about my meeting tomorrow
Making a bubble and squeak as healthily as possible ish.
Feeling a bit more with it.

I hvae a frugal friend in Essex who would probably love to go there as she is struggling as much/even more than me these days!

Chicken - I'm literally laughing out loud! Too funny! :rotfl:

PK - that sounds like a fantastic day. I love a bargain! And how good is Home Bargains? It's one of my favourite shops! I wish there was one of those near-it's-sell-by-date places near me. And sadly I can't take advantage of the Clinique mascara thing as just too far from a participating Boots.
